Dear Boards,

I'm a player who recently returned to the game and am seeking advice for multiple subjects. These subjects include building up my starting roster, tips/tricks for getting my team to work together ( which seems impossible for me ATM ) in addition to learning my way around the new jungle ( the artwork and monsters on the rift have changed ) and anything you can bring to mind. At this point I'm dead in the water and really need some help.

My champion pool... My biggest concern is my champion pool; I don't want to make a large champion pool but want to start off with maybe three champions per role to practice on but am having trouble deciding on my champions. I've already found my three supports, two of my ADC, one of my Mid Laner, no junglers and two of my Top laners. That said, I would like your feedback on what you think of my picks and who I should replace; I actually have a few champions I wouldn't mind replacing.

  • Alistar, Soraka, and Taric will be my three supports. I can buy more expensive utility supports later on although I would be okay with replacing Alistar.
  • Jhin ( no image available at time of this post ) and Tristana will be two of my three ADC. I want to find a third ADC to bring some balance to my roster. I don't know who would be the best fit but would guess that the person would excel at early/mid-game.
  • Veigar is currently my only mid-laner and, as with my ADC roster, I want to to balance out my roster. I realize this most likely means an aggressive and/or long-range mage and an assassin.
  • I have no clue where to begin with Junglers ( I'm about to hit level 10 ) but I'm thinking of Malphite, Nunu, and Rammus as possible candidates for my supportive and/or tank jungler.
  • I currently have Garen and Teemo as my two top laners. I'd be fine replacing Garen but do want to continue using Teemo. This means I'd be finding one or two more top laners to complete my roster.

Teamwork... My experience since returning has been interesting yet nothing extraordinary. I began playing bots and upon reaching level four began PVPing as a support ( ghost/exhaust ) and was doing well. I won my first four normals and wound up in a game with a player who claimed (s)he had a high MMR and after that I began getting matched with/against people salts that were obviously smurfing; not in the process of learning/re-learning like I was. This made for some very difficult matches with the saltiest members of both teams usually leaving the game or loading into the game/not playing because they didn't get the role(s) they wanted resulting in about six straight losses, followed by a win and then a mixture of both afterward. The experience has made me a more cautious player and, to my dismay, I find that a lot of my team members ( including myself ) are entering games with low morale. If you have any secrets for boosting morale, coaxing teamwork/positive attitudes of my team mates and solving the "role call" disputes before the start of games I'd love to hear them.

Navigating the Jungle... The rift has undergone many changes; most notably the jungle. New monsters, seemingly more dangerous, are inhabiting the wooded areas and I'd love to know the best way to navigate them using the champions most readily available to low level players ( 3150 IP and under ) like myself. Which champion would you take and why? What clear route would you use? If you were new and wanted to limit yourself to three junglers just to learn the role with which ones would you pick and why? I myself am thinking of Nunu, Malphite and Rammus as my first support/tank jungler ( currently leaning toward Rammus ) but am open to other options or suggestions.

Seeking your miscellaneous advice... Are there things you feel newbies should know that I've not asked about? Feel free to share them! I'm sure a lot of new players/returning players like myself will see this thread. It would be wonderful if they could benefit from this thread ( assuming it gets replies ) like I'm hoping to benefit. Share your wisdom with us; we'd love to be able to play games with you one day.

In closing... If you would like to play with me feel free to add me; I don't care about your level. Ideally I'd like people my level for play on the rift but If you are more than five levels above me I'd love to play ARAM/practice my teamfighting with you! I'd also appreciate your responses being well spaced as I have a very difficult time reading solid blocks of text. Even though you've not responded yet I want you to know I'm thankful for your reply!

Best regards, Epheamenne. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

UPDATES:

  • 11/24/2016 ( aprox. 24 hours after thread creation ) I've picked up MissFortune and Tryndamere based on what you said! I've already enjoyed three games as Tryndamere; one ARAM, two in jungle with the first experience in the jungle being because I was forced to pick between that and ADC.

First thing's first; if you haven't already gotten the free starter pack from Amazon, do so; it'll give you some solid champions and an XP/IP boost.

So, it's currently disabled because of some issues that are being fixed, but Riot recently rolled out a new champion select, where you really only need to play two roles. I'm also a player that likes playing a large number of champions and really figuring out my champion pool, but I've recently been cutting down my champion pool quite a bit and just focusing on the 1-2 roles I've chosen (so far I'm going to play support, and I'm split between jungle, mid, and adc). In general, I'd advise against playing too many champions at once; learn things slowly, you'll improve more that way. You really only need 1-2 champions per role; if you can play them well, it doesn't matter if you're 'countered' since 1) people are bad at this game, and 2) you'll learn how to play around your counters. Anyways, getting into your questions

#Champion Pools

Overall: Limit yourself, learn champions one at a time, focus on learning the game instead of wrestling with all these different champion mechanics. A champion is only as good as the person playing them. If you want to have fun and play with random champions (esp. on free rotation. Another tip; use the free rotation to try out champions), that's great (I do this a lot; it also helps you learn the roster, what different champions do, and also how to play against them), but when it comes down to buckling down and getting better at the game, it's much easier to take things step-by-step. If I were starting the game again, I would just pick like, 1-3 champions (total) I actually enjoy playing, and just learn their roles, and start branching out from there.

  • Supports: Soraka and Taric are good; Alistar can be a bit more tricky especially if you're not great at his WQ combo. Malphite is a great tanky support if you want, and he's much easier to play. You can also play Annie or Nunu (both in the starter pack)

  • ADCs: Stay away from Jhin; he isn't even out yet, plus he'll be subject to at least a month worth of balance changes, so who knows how he'll end up by the end of it. In general though, he's really unique as far as ADCs go; if you want to really learn the intricacies of his play and devote yourself to learning him, go ahead, but if you're going for breadth (you sound like you're trying to pick up a lot of new champions), pick a simpler ADC that has more transferrable skills. Ashe is great (she's also included in the starter pack mentioned above). Tristana is good. Lucian and Caitlyn are very well rounded. Sivir is also in the starter pack; she's pretty good to learn, but also somewhat unique as far as ADCs go.

  • Mid: Veigar is good. Annie is also in the starter pack, and a great champion. Stay away from Ryze (yes I know he's in the starter pack, I don't know why, he now has some of the most complicated combos in the game). Morgana and Malzahar are pretty easy to pick up (you can also play Morgana as a support).

  • Junglers: Those three are fine. Warwick is the de facto beginner jungler (also in the starter pack), because he has great sustain so it's very difficult to die to jungle camps, plus there's literally a flowchart on how to play him (Is your ult up? Yes -> Gank, No -> Farm). You can build him tank if you want too; his ult is great CC for fights. Master Yi (also in starter pack) is slightly more difficult than Warwick, but he destroys games at your level (up through Gold rank, even). Personally I learned to jungle on Udyr and Amumu; Amumu is great, Udyr is a bit more unique, but also good.

  • Top: Those two are fine. You can also bring Malphite top lane (he's actually more common as a top laner). You can also play Nunu, but he's less common.

In case you're interested, here's my current champion pool. I'm focusing mostly on support, and I'm not including champions I either play just for fun/probably won't bring into a serious match or am still learning/not fully confident in my ability on that champion.

  • Support: Janna, Braum, Sona

  • ADC: Caitlyn, Jinx

  • Mid: Orianna

  • Jungle: Amumu

  • Top: I don't play top (willingly, unless there's something I want to try out)

#Teamwork

First up: Role call dispute [should] be solved by the new champ select. If people aren't playing the roles they are assigned, report them. It's really easy for Riot to detect these people and take disciplinary action. In the meantime, blind pick is a bit crazy, once you get access to draft, it can be a bit easier since people are supposed to go by pick order (though usually players still call roles). Getting into a group of friends is also a good way to ease tensions, even just adding random people that you had a positive experience with and want to play with later.

Other than that, don't sweat the small stuff. I know it's rough playing against smurfs when you're trying to learn, but everyone in this game has won and lost a ton of games. Win streaks and loss streaks happen, it's part of the game. If it's really bothering you, take a break, do something else; if you want to keep playing, you can try a different game mode or just go stomp Bots for a while.

Sometimes a "gl hf" in all chat (/all or shift + enter) before minions spawn can have a positive effect, sometimes someone will flame you (mute and report them). You tend to develop thicker skin the more you play the game.

#Jungling

I think jungling is really difficult at lower levels when you don't have all your runes/masteries; it's hard just surviving your first few clears. Also, a lot of teams don't have a jungler till like, lvl 20-30 (at least that was my experience when i was leveling my account in season 2-3). As I mentioned above, Warwick is a great first jungler, since he has built in sustain and probably won't die to jungle even if you don't have all your runes and masteries.

As far as clear path, it doesn't matter a whole lot; I think each camp gives you roughly the same gold/exp, so it's really either based on efficiency (not walking past dead camps as much as possible) or what smite buffs you want (each camp gives a different buff when you smite it, with blue and red buff giving you their buffs from killing them). There are a ton of good guides out there, I'm sure Stonewall008 has an intro guide on his youtube channel. Nightblue3's twitch stream is also a pretty good resource.

#Misc

In general, I recommend starting small, pick a champion you like and play them, slowly start to branch out from there. Stick to what you have fun with and the game will be much more enjoyable. There is a TON of information in this game, and trying to learn it all at once is an easy way to get overwhelmed and quit the game.

There are a ton of great resources out there, LeagueCraft's youtube page has very detailed (sometimes redundantly so) guides on the basics of the game. LS (lastshadow9 on youtube) does fantastic coaching videos, although he does give you a ton of information at one time, so rewatching videos is good for really absorbing everything. Overall, practice is most important; play the game with a purpose, give yourself 1-2 things to work on every game and you will improve.

Just remember to have fun! Good Luck!

in addition to learning my way around the new jungle ( the artwork and monsters on the rift have changed )

Whoa you've been gone for a while, dude.

Since we're on the subject, I'll quickly say that all the camps now give roughly equal exp. so junglers are now starting side camps instead of buffs for an easy level 2. All the camps also have an additional buff that is given if they are smited so read up on those.

WARNING!: In Rito's traditional spirit of "You have to play the game according to what our ideas are.", which I am sure you remember, you can't even buy a Machete if you don't have Smite, so don't forget Smite or you'll be even more screwed than before. Of course, maybe I am wrong and it's just due to spaghetti coding that made it difficult with the multiple smites. (Also, there are multiple Smites now)

tips/tricks for getting my team to work together ( which seems impossible for me ATM )

There's a trick to it. The trick is to present ideas. Don't tell them what to do. Present an idea; people can pick up on good ideas, if it's a good idea they'll go along with it. If not, they won't. It works pretty well. You don't want to be the guy who thinks he gets to be the shotcaller and is ordering people around (or even risk looking like him) because nobody listens to him, especially after he just suicided into the entire enemy team when he is far, far behind because he thinks we should engage. So make sure you don't even bear the slightest resemblance to him.

#Champion Pool Don't worry about it. You don't even need that many; there's plenty of guys who play only a few champions. And even only playing just those few champions, or even just one champion, those guys still get super high rankings. Because they know what they are doing and they know the champ inside and out.

What's more important is that find champions you like, that you want to play. Then play the hell out of them. You can do fine great if you know what you are doing. So play who you want, play them into anything, and you can play them everywhere if you want. Because knowing what you are doing is the important part, not owning the "right" champions.

Hell, there's a guy who somehow got to Masters playing Teemo jungle.

#Jungle There's going to be a problem with you playing jungle. The problem is your level. A player can't pick the champion they want or play with the correct set-up for that champion because the jungle is just flat-out too difficult. Because it's tuned to Level 30 players and even champions who are amazing junglers are not going to work because it is too hard to jungle without runes and masteries. So you probably can't play the champions you want, and I say that in a very real and literal manner. As in "Players are going to get real far behind or just die to the camps if they jungle" just due to their level.

So if you are going to jungle you need to pick hyper sustain junglers like WW or Fiddle or Nunu if you should even jungle at all (and it's likely you still maybe shouldn't jungle for those games).

Heya. I've pretty much always been following the changes and patches that occur within the game, but I'm constantly having to take breaks from actually playing the game and as such I'm currently in the process of having to relearn or re-enforce good playing habits myself. Here's my take on things.

Champion Pool I would always be open to experimenting and finding a champion that fits your playstyle or simply feels good to play at the moment. At your level you aren't going to master or be playing against people who have mastered the intricacies of any given champion. As you learn more about the game, the metagame, etc. you will naturally start to gravitate to different champions anyways. That said, I have some suggestions for you to devote some time to exploring whenever you come across them in free weeks, or maybe to drop some IP on if you like the look of them. I'll try to keep the list on the cheaper side.

Support - Blitzcrank A drastically different champion than your current support pool, Blitzcrank is easy to pick up and play on a low level. He will teach you to respect skill shots and learn a little more about using high-impact abilities and playing against them for when you inevitably end up on the receiving end.

ADC- MissFortune is again a champion with a fairly low skill floor and a strong early game at the moment, unless Riot decides she ought to be taken down a peg in that aspect.

Mid - Lux is about the safest long-range mid-laner imaginable and a pretty forgiving champion for learning skill shots better. While not an assassin, Annie is cheap and a good champion to learn positioning and windows of opportunities with, the primary areas of success for assassin gameplay. Her reliable damage means she can pop just about any squishy who comes into her range.

Jungle- Honestly, just find a guide. There's a lot of thorough work out there that will help you more than any advice given. Junglers with good sustain are where you're going to want to start because you really need a good rune and mastery setup to jungle effectively in this game. Fiddlesticks is an easy starting jungle. If a bit slow, it's next to impossible to die to the jungle with him as long as you have mana.Amumu might have a little more trouble with sustain at your level, but he's kind of a "baby's first ganker" type of jungler who translates easily into teamfights. Nautilus is another safe jungler, though I'm not sure how he fares without the proper runes and masteries again. Nunu is another safe, cheap starter who requires no investment, but he struggles for relevancy constantly from meta to meta.

Top lane - I dunno. Top lane's a weird place and pretty much any champion with some sustain can just sit there and farm most of the game at your level.

Teamwork: Maybe the new champ select will alleviate the role call fights a little for new players, but we can't discount the general asshattery of smurfs and/or people who simply haven't learned the consequences of their actions. The latter, along with leaving and afking should die out a little more as you level up, so I would just keep your head up and keep grinding to the higher levels.

The easiest way to communicate without having to be involved in disputes (and honestly, I can't even find the time to type as much as some people do in a game) is to just get familiar with the ping system and use it religiously.

This is more of a general life tip, but you can't really control what others are going to do if they see no reason to trust you. That's difficult to establish at the start of a math. You can only control your own attitude and hope that others are encouraged to follow suit. I have had to coax a couple of players down from the proverbial edge now and then, but generally I do just take a neutral stance to any conflicts that are occurring within a game and focus on what I am doing personally.

-Never take sides in an argument between teammates -Encourage players who's mistakes have specifically affected you. Let them know you don't mind if they are apologetic. -If you do have the energy to be a little friendly and outgoing before the match starts, go for it. I don't often do so, but it really does help when you can manage it and can make all the difference if you personally were starting at a bit of a tilt.

Miscellaneous Tips -Brush up on your basic skills before you care about mastering any given champion, really

-Your last hitting can always improve! Gold can buy you happiness.

-Ward constantly! First just to get in the habit. Once you're in the habit, you can learn more about strategic warding. There are some good guides on the net.

-Always know the Dude Potential of any patch of hidden terrain. If you don't know where any given dude is on the map, assume they are right inside that brush you are about to walk into.

That's about as much as I think is useful for you to chew on from my brain at the moment. Good luck on the rift.

Sammystorm1/23/2016, 10:12:58 PM2 votes

Here is what I would add.

ADC:Lucian

Jungle: Warwick , Nunu , Udyr These 3 are all super easy to jungle with and are good for learning the role.

Top: I would add some type of carry or fighter top like Fiora or Jax

If you want to add me feel free. In game name "Sammystorm"

EDIT: Best tip I can give you. Focus on your own play. Best way to get better at the game. For jungling their is a few things I would mention. First being starting frog or double golems is usually best and you smite them to give you a bonus. Then move to either red or blue buff and then to whichever buff you haven't already taken.

Monsters when smited give you a buff now:

Frog gives you a passive that reflects damage when attacked.

Golem gives you a stun against monsters every 6th aa

Red gives you HP

Blue gives you Mana

Raptor gives you a passive that when spotted by a ward alerts you and gives you true sight

Wolf gives you a orb that reveals and chases any enemy that walks in that half of the jungle.

So for the first clear the only camps worth smiting either golems or frog. Then Red or Blue buff with Red usually beiong more valuable.

I'm not a great player, but here is some advice for you. First of all, I wouldn't learn Taric its not that he's really bad or hard, its just that he's getting a Sion level rework this year, so I would wait until then to see if you want to play him. Anyway, DrMundo and Trundle are currently one some the best top laners and junglers in the game, so I would play them, atleast for now, they might be gutted later on, also Poppy was recently reworked and is played as a support, top laner, and jungler, so I would spend the 450 ip needed to buy her and try her out. MissFortune and Lucian are also early game bully adcs that are doing well right now, oh and everybody loves Jinx so you would probably like her. Nautilus is my preferred support, and is extremely easy to play (If you can land a fast skillshot with a large hitbox and press e, you can play him), so I would try him. Watch Stonewall008s videos for jungleing, I don't know much about it that isn't from him, and his videos are pretty entertaining. I also love Gangplank, and lets just say he earned being permabanned in the eu and na lcs (he's a top laner and midlaner). I'll friend you though I may not be able to play on a reliable schedule.

World Ender1/23/2016, 9:30:44 PM1 votes

Hey there. I really relate to your experience because I had to pretty much re-learn the game as well after taking 6 months off after getting to about level 8.

First off, I want to say that learning this game is really daunting and discouraging. RIOT doesn't do enough to make the new player experience really enjoyable and approachable. Smurfs, trolls, ragers, and afk's can make this game really frustrating at times.

But, after playing for close to a year, I can say that League has become one of my favorite and most played games of all time. There's so much about it to love, and I'm glad that you're here asking questions, because that's how you really learn.

I've also found YouTube to be one of the best resources for this game, hands down. Some channels I'd reccommend are stonewall008 (jungle mostly, but offers good insight into decision making and play by play analysis) FoxdropLoL (jungle again, with helpful tips on actually jungling, decision making, and dealing with your team in a positive way) and HuzzyGames (plays lots of different champions and talks about their strengths, weaknesses, how to win lane, decision making, etc.)

There are other great channels out there focused on other aspects of gameplay, but in my opinion decision making and knowing what to do in situations and how to make the best out of a bad deal are the best skills that are fundamental to getting better at the game.

As for your champion pool, here are my recommendations. Top: Malphite Tryndamere Jax as well as Garen and Teemo. They are all solid picks and pretty easy to learn and do well with. Mid: Annie is another good bursty mage like Veigar, but easier to use in my opinion. Lux is a long range mage and is only 3150, and isn't difficult at all. As for an assassin champion, Zed is good and fun but expensive. Honestly, I would recommend Kassadin . He's 3150 and is a very good champ and one of my favorites, despite being underplayed. His ult is a 3 second cooldown flash so you can get out of bad situations easily, especially helpful for newer players. Jungle: I would say Amumu should definitely be your go to jungler. He's my go to (and I main jungle) and just has so much utility and surprising amounts of damage. Warwick Shyvana and MasterYi are also good picks. I wouldn't recommend Nunu as he's pretty out of meta and doesn't really fit teams, but Rammus and Malphite are decent tanks. Support: Soraka and Alistar are good choices. Taric as someone else said is in line for a rework, so learning him now will be a bit of a waste, but maybe pick him up after that. Morgana and Blitzcrank are also easy to play, cheap, and are really useful in general. ADC: I don't play ADC (I hate the role, I suck hard at it) but I seem to do okay when I play Jinx. She's very strong and easy to pick up, and although expensive, I believe she's worth it. Tristana is a good pick, but I'd recommend staying away from Jhin for a while. He's a pretty complex champ and you really have to play around his reload, which might be tough until you get more confident.

As for team morale, the best thing you can do is stay silent unless you're congratulating someone (gj wp, nice!) or saying something like (care mid, rengar coming down). Arguing doesn't help anyone. There's also a mute button on the tab screen if people are being really toxic. If they're like that, they won't have anything useful to say. The channels I mentioned all talk about raging and how it's a bad thing in almost all of their commentaries, so just watch a few and you'll get what I mean.

Finally, as to jungling. It's hard. It's my favorite role in the game and I still just hate it sometimes. You have to basically control the map and make big decisions that could win or lose you the game. People say that ADC is the hardest role in the game, and they're partially true, in terms of skill. But as a jungler, you have to use your brain. You have to be thinking constantly about top lane being pushed, mid losing lane, bot lane feeding, getting invaded by the enemy jungler, ganking, counter-ganking, dragon control...in addition to getting gold and exp by clearing camps. I would recommend that you go into a custom game, by yourself, and just practice clearing. Foxdrop has a lot of videos about this that you're free to look up, but an easy clear is this:

Start at Krugs (Golems) or Gromp (Wraith) (generally, you start at bot side so you can get a good leash, i.e. help from ADC and support, and the camp changes depending on your side of the map) and smite it to get its bonus that helps you clear. Then go to your buff (red or blue, depending on the side) and then your other buff. Continue clearing camps until you get enough gold for your smite upgrade (650) or you get too low. I recommend learning with Warwick as he has innate life steal, making your clears without runes and masteries better.

Also, DON'T BUY RUNES UNTIL YOU REACH LEVEL 20, AND THEN ONLY BUY TIER 3 (GREATER) RUNES. You will waste your money buying lower tier runes. The best runes to buy starting out are AD and AP Quints (big ones), AD and Magic Penetration Marks (Reds), Armor Seals (Yellows) and Magic Resist Glyphs (Blues).

Finally, Riot just released a promotion with Amazon that gives you starter champions and boosts for free buy linking your account. Information can be found here.

I hope this helped, and good luck on the Rift!

Top laner could try out Trundle Jax or Tryndamere for some high damage tops. Thinking about it I didn't go as much into detail with top and adc. Meh. You do you with these.

For ADC Jinx can be good for her utility and damage, pretty good range and global ult. Vayne can also be good for her ability to ignore some of the enemy's armor and mr with her true damage bolts. Can 1 v 1 champs pretty well except mages. Those can be difficult. Twitch is assassin/like along with vayne. Don't really know what advice to give you with him but he can also top if you're careful. Can hold lane against a Darius. Barely. KogMaw is a hyper carry, like vayne, but can't really explore or push by himself because of his immobility and squishiness. Usually with him want to build on hit items like item 3124 item 3153 item 3087 item 3085 don't recommend item 3091 . Can attack dragon and baron using W. Only champion in the game that breaks the attack speed barrier up to 5.00 per second. Don't attack a ramous tho. That'll kill you.

For mid some picks can be Ahri with her burstiness and poke. Gotta line up a charm and her ball. Akali if you think you can use her pretty well. If done right she can 1 v 1 juggernauts. Anivia is pretty good for wave clear and burst with her E. Usually want to get 2 of these 3 item 3174 item 3027 item 3003 . Annie is pretty reliable with her cc and burst. If you like support style champs she can work like a bursty support. Can kill a kog'maw with her E. Diana is assassin fighter like. Very low cd ult. Some items to get can be item 3100 item 3115 item 3157 . Ekko idk what to say about him. I don't really play him. Fizz is just so bursty. His ult combined with the rest of his abilities can kill anyone. I think. Good items are item 3100 item 3157 item 3165 . Heimerdinger place down turrets, can either level q up first for turrets or w first for more mobile damage. Items item 3157 . Karthus can be fun. Useful even when dead with an unstoppable ult. Idk if you're and old player or not but if you are then this is probably useless info. Kassadin he does hops. Supposed to be the anti mage. item 3100 item 3027 are good on him. Katarina is an assassin the can decimate the enemy team, but very vulnerable if cc'd. Any AP item is good on her. Kayle is both a support and a mage. Also don't play her much but I assume she can be deadly. Leblanc I also don't play her much. Bursty. Morgana is a support/mage. I consider her a real anti mage with her black shield. Her combo is pretty much to poke q then w, farm just w, kill q, w, r, then whatever skills are up. item 3027 item 3151 item 3165 are all good. Nidalee again, don't play her much. Nasus lol jk unless you want to break the meta. Nunu can be a good mid. Very high ratios. But mana costs can also be pretty high. Orianna don't play her much but she is also decent. Swain god. So long since I've last played him. Idk. Syndra decently bursty. Like an AP kha'zix with her skills getting a bonus after hitting lvl 5 rank. TwistedFate is good for his utility. An auto attacking mage. Viktor is unique. Special items and special laser. Xerath poke them. This list getting too long. Yasuo adc mid. That's all he is. rar. Zed an assassin. God this is getting me bored. Here, just have the others Ziggs Zilean Talon Galio

Okay now junglers. I don't jungle much but meh. Aatrox usually gets devourer. Amumu gets tank with some ap items.item 1401 item 3151 . DrMundo can be a jungler. Sometimes. Cinder hulk and liandrys. Experiment with all the champs. Normals are just for that. Shoot, even 1v1 in Custom.

If Veigar is you mid, maybe Brand or Malzahar can be good for you.

For Top lane and Jg, try Trundle or Volibear. Easy to pick up, great waveclear (and if your good enough, take them as supp).

Rammus is great in Jungle. Malphite is better in Top lane.

For a 3rd ADC, perhaps try Miss Fortune or Jinx. You cant go wrong with Jinx, and MF is quite strong right now.

I recommend Renekton or Rumble or evenGnar as your top laners since if in ranked one of them is enough to surivive the lane, for jungle i recommend tank junglers since they are always reliable. such asZac RekSai or evenOlaf and i recommend Ahri and Lux for mid lane.

Pool

Support - Alistar Good. Soraka Easy but you'll piss off a lot of players. Taric Being reworked soon, don't get too attached. I'd add Thresh as he is pretty much the support gold standard and will remain perfectly playable forever.

ADC - Might want to see if Jihn is even a good fit for bot ADC first. Tristana Good solid ADC. Lucian Suggesting Lucian due to reliably always being good and great champion to practice stuff on.

Mid - Veigar Good champion, Viktor Similar but more early power and little more raw trading power. Zed Should always have the ability to play an AD mid-laner, also "babies first assassin" with relative safety and reliability even when you screw up.

Jungle - RekSai Baseline jungler, fairly simple and easy to pick up. The ones you mentioned can have issues in a lot of matchups. Nunu mains are things of nightmares however, please don't invade my dreams, but he's playable even while leveling, 450 IP.

Top - Garen/Teemo is at least variety, suggest Poppy as another tank with carry potential. Also 450 IP.

Learning the Jungle 101.

Play Nunu and Reksai. They can jungle without full rune setups decently and can take many paths. Small Camp -> Buff Camp -> Small Camp -> Buff camp -> Home is fairly standard start, you can start buff camp if you want or fear an invade/plan to invade.

Try flanking pushed lanes, ping before going in (more than once), know when to flee so you don't feed kills to that lane, ignore ALL team mates screams for ganks.

My advice to 90%+ of the population?

Suggested Item Builds SUCK

This takes a lot of experience, but guides for champions on Solomid.net are pretty good, look for UP TO DATE guides. Remember to build ACCORDING TO THE GAME, both in compositions and state (winning/losing). For example, if you're playing top lane Garen and you have 12 kills, you should probably have a bit more damage in your build than if you were 0-3 where you need to be built as pure tank. If you're the only AD or AP threat on your team and the rest of your team isn't just stomping, you need damage ASAP.

and my other piece of advice...

Make sure minion waves in your favor (hitting enemy towers) as often as possible before you group/force team fights. Losing a team fight but having pushed waves can prevent losing objectives, winning a team fight with pushed waves can get you several objectives.

This guy is so nice and civilized I'm beginning to suspect he may be a robot.

I think for mid if you want a long ranged mage you might want to get Anivia or Brand. Also for Jungle Jax and Rengar are really good right now. (sorry i don't know how much they cost) Also MasterYi is good for beginning to jungle and he is cheep. Personally i like Caitlyn as an adc.

For top i have heard that Darius is op and he almost always gets band in ranked.

What i do or trying to boost moral is:

  1. at the beginning of the game say good luck have fun
  2. To just give encouragement and say things like nice/good job.
  3. When someone dies i say something like "aw" or if they die and where close to killing somebody i'll just say something like, "aw you were close."

The main thing that i wish beginners wold know is what are wards, the baron, and the dragon. Also i think it is (not necessary) but nice to know how to chat with someone who is not in your game. So if you don't know it is /r. To ping which i was surprised at how many low level people don't know how to do.

I will send you a friend request! Hope this Helps!

I think the biggest thing is knowing most all the champs in the game, and understanding what they are trying to do to you. As for mid and marksmen picks, safe picks rule to make sure you can always be helpful and not have too many bad games.

Best Darius KR1/23/2016, 8:08:44 PM1 votes

Well, I can't help very much since i pretty much only play Darius Darius.

So yea. There you have it: Take Darius Darius top lane, take Darius Darius as your jungle tank and while you're at it take Darius him full AD mid too.

Ok, seriously now. When i go jungle, i usually do bottom side mini-camp with smite (that would be Krugs/Gromp), bottom side Buff and then do scuttle crab before killing the top side buff and ganking. Doing the scuttle crab usually helps a lot because you end up regenerating most of your health while doing it because of your jungle item.

Now there's one thing i want to ask you, why do you play Teemo? I feel like there are soooooo many better options after Riot decided to nerf him

For a ranged mid you can't beat xerath and lox, lux is pretty popular right now. Aniva is as well. For assassins zed is always a strong choice. Lb has seen more play lately.

As mentioned Lucian and miss fortune are very strong and popular picks right now, I prefer MF myself.

I don't jungle much but I see shaco rengar jax Lee and xin a lot lately.
