I'm relatively new to the game and wasn't going to stick around until I happened to try Fiddlesticks on the FTP rotation. Needless to say, I bought him immediately. Come to find out that he may be fine in blind, unranked mode where there are lots of people who are new (like me), but once I actually get the heroes/level to go to rank mode, he's considered near useless. A jack of all trades master of none, with no burst outside the ultimate and easily counterable by ganks and CC. Apparently he started as a Jungler in earlier seasons? Most of the games I play have little team coordination, so it's usually me as Fiddle in a lane by myself, murdering people who don't have the sense to run away, or the burst/cc required to kill Fiddle before he kills them.
I found Soraka later, but it still makes me sad that Fiddle is really fun but not considered amazing for any role. (Apparently most people consider him a 5-6 out of 10 for Jungling, which is as close to a collective "meh" as I've ever heard. That means that I'll probably never get to play my favorite hero in ranked when I finally get there if I don't want to be reported for a made up infraction. Although, to be honest I'm having trouble finding any melee hero of any description that I really like, and I feel like Top lane and Junglers are mostly melee heroes. So I may not even get to play ranked at 30 if I haven't found 20 non-support/non-Fiddlesticks heroes I really like playing. I'm sort of afraid of trying it anyway, because I heard the draft system is capable of putting you in roles that you have no heroes for.
