How does Kayn's trait work exactly?
So I'm getting Kayn and I was wondering how his trait works. If someone could fully explain it, that would be greatly helpful. I can clarify what else i need to know too. Thanks :)

Collect orbs to fill trabsformation bar
Kill ranged chanpions to get assassin orbs
Kill melee for darkin orbs
The later in the game it is the more orbs each kill grants.
If you fill the gauge and it doesnt have the form you want then wait 4 minutes and you can choose that one insteadd.
Hopefully by trait you meant passive. Otherwise i feel a lil silly
You've come to the right place! As others have mentioned, Kayn's initial trait works a bit like a quest, where your objective is to take down enemy champions:
- Kills and assists count as a takedown, and this is valid for takedowns on any champion, so as long as you participated in a kill, you're good.
- Champions you participated in killing drop colored orbs that are automatically collected at the end of combat, and each build towards a transformation:
- Melee champions drop red essence, which builds up towards transforming into Rhaast, a durable, sustain-heavy bruiser.
- Ranged champions drop blue essence, which builds up towards transforming into Shadow Assassin Kayn, a fluid, evasive assassin.
- Once either bar fills up, you gain the option to select Kayn's trait to transform into the desired form, which is permanent for the rest of the match, upgrades some of your abilities and gives you a new trait:
- Rhaast heals from his ability damage.
- Shadow Assassin Kayn deals bonus magic damage on his attacks and abilities for a short time upon entering combat.
- Once one bar fills up, the other transformation option becomes available after 4 minutes, so if you first unlock the "wrong" option you can always choose the transformation you wanted a little later on.

Damage champions to gather orbs
It doesn't matter what champions you attack UNTIL you've nearly filled his meter.
Whatever type of champion you damage last to fill the meter will determine which form you can pick up at the fountain.
Ranged and you become a burst assassin.
Melee and you become a sustained bruiser.
Of course, you can wait for the cooldown on your passive to reach 0 if you don't want the form you get first.
But once you transform, you don't get to change it.
