Maybe there should be a dmg item that decreases animation times?

What if instead of building assassins around armor pen, there was a stat that decreased animation times? That would make more sense wouldnt it? Right now, armor pen is being abused by every adc under the sun to the same or better effect.. But shorter animations would arguably be much better used by the assassin.

From playing draven, i know that a shorter auto attack animation will help you kite, but it wont increase your dps or make you much more deadly. It makes you a little safer because you dont have to stand still as long to auto a creep or enemy champion. You are safer vs skillshots that is a big efffect of the auto attack frame change to draven, but that is only important at times. For an assassin, these items would make you more deadly because they help you get all of your burst in faster. So as compared to armor pen, these items would have a distinction when bought on assassin vs adc. That is to the good. Just an idea that hasnt been tossed around. Although it really should have been. Flat armor and magic pen could be removed from the game in favor of these changes.

I think that this would have been a better idea than the current rework. They slowed the burst times of assassins so that a behind assassin cant kill adc before anyone can react. But if you put their animation speed on top of item, that will happen naturally and it doesnt require you to go and touch the champion kits in this way. It would mean that assassins have a harder time in early game teamfights, but you could make them stronger early duelists for that weakness.

This is a better design from a game technical stand point. Its simpler and smaller in scope, and it would have better integration with the rest of the game flow. Riot doesnt have many good designers outside of the art department and certain parts of the champ development team. They dont understand how to get fine resolution of a problem and then apply changes that directly address that problem. The prefered method is to tie the problem down so that it wont fly across the room when they get their balance cudgels and diversity chainsaws out.
