Its getting tiresome.
I wish someone could explain how people at the same MMR can have such widely different skill level. Like, i'll play a game and its the normal kind of challenge and teamwork i expect, then the very next game i feel like i'm playing with people 4 divisions down. its just not fun for me. Is there an explanation for this?

nah. I'm not going to keep playing once the match becomes unfun.
Don't afk. I can't tell you how many times I've seen teams want to give up and then end up turning the game around. If you can get some extra wins, that'll boost your mmr and you'll play with better skilled players.
