Failed champion designs.

Today a thought came a across my mind. I don't know if it has been discussed yet. But are there any champions old or new pre or after rework, that were failed. Like totally failed. Not in the way that they were bad but that riot just did not think we would build them or play them that way. For example they realese X champion to be a tank and everyone starts playing him as an melee adc, or stuff like that. Please feed me up, remember they can be old and not played that way now, but used to, might even just be for a patch. For example old sion - pre rework.

Edit: A lot of you guys probably did not understand what I wanted out of my thread, I mean that they were not failed in the way that they were balanced, for example many mention kassadin which is really unbalanced one way or the other and therefore he is failed in the way of a toxic kit, I aimed for failed in the way that they were meant to be a mage and people went tank with him, much like ekko.

Ekko right now. They're having to work very hard to convince people not to play him as a tank.

kassadin failed spectacularly. there was no phase in the game in 5 years were that champion was balanced. he was always either trash, or at 90% ban rate across all brackets.

imo tryn is another failed concept. he relies too much on early rng to get anything done.

fiora was until she got her rework now, even though she wasnt as bad as some of the other failed champs. she just didnt play out as expected and didnt live up to her fantasy as a duellist, but was still functional as an assassin.

Kassadin Reworked and nerfed several times, still never been in a reasonable state of balance. Ekko Will not be built bruiser or tank, and does in fact have burst. He's the second (failed) attempt of a utility assassin with "Low burst." Fizz The first failed utility assassin design attempt. Aatrox Was hastily nerfed when they realized a tanky damage dealer with mobility and extendable attack range was overbearing when powerful. Tryndamere Was an answer to melees being outclassed by melee back in the day of permakiting. Skarner Being re-reworked, indicative of the failed attempt the first time. Evelynn Oh boy,..Sunfire stacking, invisibility into stunlock burst, and was Olaf'd. Speaking of. Olaf Still not O.K. after rework.

Honorable mentions: Any champion that has been reworked or had fundamental problems but didn't break the game, or didn't require a rework to be fixed.

and the winner is,.... Ashe This champion originally caused mobility creep.

Old Karma was meant to be a support but was mostly played as a mid laner.

When people did play her that is.

Which was like two times a year.

Riot kinda gave up on her though to be fair, until they reworked her.

oh, how could i forget eve?

theyre still not fixing the core issue with her which is that its close to impossible to ward properly against her. at least not without putting yourself at stupid risks and walk into her jungle to ward her camps directly.

so theyre sticking with nerfs to her kit instead. for a short moment she was fine. then came the vision changes which removed a large margin of counterplay against stealth. and they didnt adapt the stealth champs to these changes.

so they rather keep her in a broken state and hit her with the nerf hammer every time she shows up.
