@Riot Anivia Q mechanic has changed?

I main anivia and I just played her after the patch. I thought the patch was just to show the radius of anivia's q explosion, but I was wrong. before the patch, her q could be aimed outside the maximum distance and anivia would still fire the skill from where she was. After the patch, if the cursor is outside the q distance range, anivia will fly the required distance before she can get the max distance. For me, this is game breaking since I would always be aiming outside the maximum distance and be wondering why the skillshot hasn't been fired.

Thanks for the heads up, Anivia moving into range to cast rather than casting in a direction is a bug, not an intended change.

The new Q indicator is an eyesore and more confusing than helpful. It hides minions and visibility on champions often and even though it shows the range of the stun, you're going to be aiming to hit a person dead center anyway most of the time unless you're trying to hit two people at once. Experience will teach that, some huge circle won't necessarily, especially since you won't be detonating the Q exactly where the indicator was in the first place making it not so useful as a real guide. It's easier to hit a skill being able to see it in flight and its path than a gaudy indicator. This is simply awful and I pray that they take the simple way of fixing the bug and just change the skill back to how it was. I've been missing a ton of Qs and I don't believe it's just because of the bug.

If you want to start adding new skill indicators to champions (I know it was recently done with Varus and people didn't like that either) just add in a UI option to display certain skill indicators in their 'optional forms'. As in, newbie guide mode and hey I actually know what I'm doing get this extra junk out of my face mode.

I tested this out and op is right. When you are running back and cast Q you run forward to cast it max range. That is a huge drawback and should be fixed immediately. It's basically like ziggs old Q which was a pain.

OH thank god i main Anivia and when i noticed the change i prayed it was a bug! Its horrible since i don't know whether ill fire or move in and die since i can't get away!

I didn't notice. I just now played her, but I never put my mouse out that far from her to fire it (since it will go up to max distance regardless of where I point, until I reactivate it). What I did have trouble with is that I'm used to reactivating when the ball is close enough (no need for an indicator or extra particles), but with the new particles now I'm misjudging the distance because I'm still activating when the particles are within a certain distance of my target. Yes, time will get me used to it again, but I feel the snowy particles added to indicate radius are unnecessary.

@riot can you tell us when it's actually getting fixed cause it's actually getting to a point where anivia is unplayable for me due to the playstyle restriction. Thank you

They are trying to migrate that among all skills. They did it for annie 2 years ago? And several other people too. It's really annoying

Might be a bug from adding the new cast indicator. At the very least, worth bringing it to rito's attention.

Just out of curiosity, how long would that hotfix take? I don't want to rank with anivia before the patch and I don't want to decay either lol

Yes I noticed as well that Anivia no longer shoots her Q to max range to if you click beyond her range, and instead will move up to shoot it. It's a really annoying change and has caused me to mess up my timing. I hope that's something they fix because normally when you shot a skill shot no matter where you click on the screen it should shoot immediately.

This. I also have had Anivia for a while and took me a while to figure out why 80% of my q's were not going off. I'm the same as you, and have always held my cursor outside of the max distance. It has seriously affected my play :/ Personally, the stun indicator is unwieldy and does not help me in the slightest.

Honestly, I think the indicator helped me able to get those stuns landed. Anivia's Q is not her damage output and is only suppose to be used to secure a kill or CC someone, her W is where the damage is at (Yes I know about the Frosted Passive that doubles W when enemy is touched by Q or Ulti) The indicator was suppose to help people gain vision of the AOE of the stun for the user, never the enemy. I don't see the bug described on top happen to me in-game. Do you use Smartcast or use the indicators?

Weird. Ive always had to move for the max distance when I played her with the Q. :c Hope it gets figured out though, it is difficult to deal with.
