Summer-Time Scrubs! Where all the kids think KDS ratio is > objectives

Would you rather win with a bad 6-15 K/D ratio or lose with a 30-5 K/D ratio?

So summer vacation is close at hand for those in school and the younger freshmen in college are all taking a breather from school life. A popular game that everyone raves about is a perfect way to spend the summer, whether it is an FPS, a MOBA, or a good ol' MMORPG. League Of Legends is one popular MOBA that a diverse group of people can enjoy.

I will admit, a recent increase in "difficult to play with," players does not correlate to kids being out of school, however, that does not excuse the fact that those who enter this game with a mentality that the KDS ratio is the most important factor to winning the game, albeit it is can help early in the game if the opponents cannot keep up. A post from 4 years ago by Propaganda Ink has the same complaint about players who tunnel focus on their KDS ratio rather than helping the team by assisting with certain objectives such as towers, inhibitors, baron, dragon, or even just plain joining the team in keeping pressure in a lane. As Onegarion puts it, "the FPS mind of my score is good so that means i played well. Mobas don't operate like that and its not how it works." It is an attribute in a game that can heavily rely on teamwork, that can win or lose games consistently.

What are ways to address this issue? There is no report option and it seems to be an increasing problem as summer hits.

Mhmmmmm..... it depends on the type of game I'm playing. If by KDA you mean playing safe and not risking a death over team's benefits in fights then I agree with you. There's nothing I hate more than passive players; although I understand their reasoning, but it's still annoying not being able to fully count on them for follow-up.

But if by KDA you mean like kills > objectives, then it really depends on the situation. I generally care more about objectives and competitively look out for myself + teammates when I'm playing ranked. In normals, however, anything goes. I play normals to relax and engaging fights seem much more fun than playing smart (though I do try to provoke a fight in a smart way). So by this definition of KDA: objectives > KDA in ranked, and KDA > objectives in normal.
