Wukong's Problem
I think many of us can agree Wukong's general design has many problems. One of these designs are what is commonly referred to as "feast or famine".This is where the champion has to get ahead to be relevant(which is not a healthy design to base an entire champion's kit on).Though this "feast or famine" is a problem that many champions may have struggled with at some point or another Wukong has always sort of had this, but it's especially a problem with Wukong because of how linear most of his kit is; which is another thing I'd like to address.
Wukong has an extremely bland kit which doesn't allow for any critical thinking at all (or much thinking in general) meaning that it his easily predictable to what he's going to do. Wukong doesn't have any options like playing passive and scaling (this is why there is more success playing him in the jungle despite his high mana cost and low wave-clear). Also if Wukong does get ahead and fed, there is little the enemy team can do with his insane team fighting prowess from his AoE damage, leading to little counter-play.
We all love Wukong's bad-ass Vastayan Chinese folk-lore aesthetics and would greatly appreciate a game-play rework, but I feel it would be more welcoming to make him more of a high burst- duelist like Master Yi and Jax. I say this because his lore and the lore he was based off of suggests that his kit would be like this.An agile fighter who may not do the best in super long-sustained fights do to his fight first think later attitude, still is a student of Wuju-Style fighting. I feel the player should be able to demonstrate his skill on the champion (and the champion's personal mastery of Wuju martial art) and feel rewarded just like they do when Yi alpha-dodges a skill shot or meditates a tower shot. As of the moment the most skill a Wukong player can demonstrate is juke someone(which many people can predict), though it is a part of his kit that I love. It would be more fun if reworked, they moved a lot of his power from his ult and put it into his fighting, or maybe even making his ult a fighting-enhancing buff(like yi's) that could give well timed ults more reward rather then just being able to press all of your abilities at once (like pre-rework
).
Thanks to all of you who took the time to read this and many of this is just my personal opinions of SOME of Wukongs problems and my outlooks on them and on what could change in a potential rework, Wukong can still be cheesy fun for all. =} (P.S you can find my rough-idea of how a Wukong potential rework could look here
