Why is meta so important to some players?

Ok so i get it there's a system how people generally follow items and all. Tactics to! but what i wanna know is why people get so mad if the meta is broken! honestly from time to time As support and destroying bottom lane literally leaving gold in my hands why would i buy nothing but support items :P Technically that stage is done after feeding them adc and making them fat! so why waste it on early sightstone or finishing the gold coin??? but oooooooh boy when you do this it drives people stark raving mad! break the meta the community pro comes out and says "um WTF are you building!?" and this just makes team collapse happen.. my main objective of this rant is to understand is "is really going into a (ahem excuse my language) bitch fit?" does it really need to be necessary just because the meta has suddenly disappeared? i mean the lead was already taken by a huge gap and yet people go wtf GET SIGHTSTONES NOOOOO GET IT NOW!!!

and after the upburst comes the question every community "pro" has to ask... "Whats your Elo huh kid?" and i mean come on really whats with the kid thing to? is every league player some 42 year old guy masquerading as a "pro" and trumping over younger players as a feat? lets face the kid thing has to stop cause i mean come on makes you sound old and stupid and i dont mean that because it upsets cause i am "kid"( which im not 23 years old isnt a kid but what do i know right?) but the fact everyone think flaming a kid aka "child" is considered badass??? new generation welcome to idiocracy :D where adult angerly flame kids and are proud of it! anywho enough about that and back to the simple question of why meta is so important! you heard my rant lemme hear yours!?

Bad rant is bad.

Their is no problem with building non support items, unless you refuse to build a sight stone first. Part of your role is to support the team. If you want to support it through kills fine. But still fill the other side of the role of vision.

Usually because most of "out of metas" are ppl who have failed playing the settled roles/champions and want to find the super-duper exploit to faceroll enemies down alone not caring about teamplay because teamplay is part of meta too.

Honestly when I play support I think about what's best for me to build in order to improve my team's chances at winning rather than carrying them myself. Sightstone and upgraded red trinket are musts, then I provide what's needed. Do they need utility? CDR, Righteous Glory, Mikaels and such. Do they need extra defenses? Frozen Heart or Locket of Iron Solari. Are we winning and it's only matter of a few minutes before they surrend? Rabadon u_u

Wards win games...period. :) This question about people raging in game is rhetorical right? I deal with them everyday, i don't try to understand them, I use the mute function.

Why build item 3069 and item 2045 Simple really. They are extremely slot efficient and undeniably useful items. If you're playing an actual support champ, then you don't need item 3089. If you don't want to build full support, don't build full support. If you don't want to build the two core support items, don't play support.

Breaking the meta is fine and all, heck it can be pretty fun. But don't forget, the "meta" is simply put, the current best way to win, the strongest strategy that is currently in play. There's nothing wrong with breaking it, but have consideration for the rest of your team before deciding to call support but play like a carry.

If you are playing support you have certain tasks you need to do. One being take control of vision. Hence the sightstone you should probably rush. Honestly most support items aren't worth finishing until your 5th or 6th item anyway. I'm a support main and I know that its your job to take control of vision. Thats why you are playing the support. THe champ that helps the others.

Now when it comes to off meta supports you should get a sightstone. Not questions asked. After that honestly it doesn't really matter. Because you are still filling the same role where you need to control vision for your team. If you don't do it then no one does and unless your opponent is absolutely terrible they will make you pay for not having wards. Trust me its the first thing I tell my jungler in bot lane when I realize the enemy doesn't have any wards out and are relying solely on their trinkets. Easy kills every time. Same goes for late game. Dragon/Baron are now mine, your buffs are mine, and your jungle is mine. I will see where you go and we will be there.

That aside there are a ton of people out there that are afraid of meta breaking because most of them don't understand why you do it. In low elos people do it just to be different, but in higher elos breaking the meta is done to throw the team off and they know why and how. They know the purpose for it and the reasoning where it makes sense.

The higher you climb the less issue you have with it being off meta and more about not fitting in team comps and counter picking yourself.

You do know that even if you're following the meta build at every game, it won't guarantee you a 100% victory on every game, so going off-meta build, like stupidly going AP Janna with no sightstone or AP JarvanIV , is asking for a beating, or better, a ban at least.
