Some Tips to Improve How You Play

I will first Declare that this post is about methods that take time but is generally worth it.

Basics Many people have many opinions as to what counts as basics. Let's just say that in this post, basics means the skills used commonly in almost every role, for example warding, farming or map awareness. When people ask how to improve the basics, they usually don't get an answer that helps. They usually only get a not-so-useful answer like 'Ward when the bush is not warded' or 'Stare at the minimap'.

You usually get good at warding if you know where the places to ward are. If you're top/bottom, you would want to ward the entrances to your lane, which usually would be the triangle brush and another unnamed bush that is close to the river. When taking objectives such as baron or dragon, there would usually be 2 out of the 3 places that you could ward that you need to ward, which are behind the baron/dragon pit, the brush next to the blue buff, and another brush that is near the wolf camp (it's behind the wolf camp walls) For mid lane, there are too many places where you could ward so I won't list them all but I usually like to ward between you and your jungler's current position (Unless you see them going to the other side of the map) The reason for this is that if the enemy jungler ganks and your jungler is somewhat near, the jungler could flank them from behind and get a nice kill or two. (unless they're really fed, which in this case you ward opposite to your jungler so that you can run to your jungler if the enemy ganks).

For farming, I usually like to spawn a Lucian beginner bot, go bottom lane and try to get 30 cs before 5 minutes into the game. (You are not allowed to kill him though) I know it sounds dumb but the only other direct way of getting better at cs is to freeze in mid lane and get a near-perfect score of 34 or more cs, which sounds really boring. I'm sure you all know how to create a custom game and add bots.

For map awareness, you generally want to see what is there, but more importantly you want to see what isn't there. I know this sounds weird, but let me explain. Having good map awareness isn't looking at top lane and saying 'oh hey, the enemy top laner is at top lane.' That is complete bs. However, if you are sure that the enemy top laner didn't recall and he has gone missing, he may have gone to mid lane, take jungle camps or possibly even take rift herald. ( I am not talking about late game, I'm talking about laning phase and the early minutes of mid game) The only time(s) where you need to look for what IS there is the enemy jungler's position and also when someone is at a place they shouldn't be in, such as enemy mid laner in top/bottom lane, or enemy support in top lane. To summarize, you basically see what champions and lanes the enemy is going for, and if anything is irregular, ping. (If you have the time to talk instead of a fast ping feel free to do so, but you most likely won't)

Improving as a player (Solo Queue) I bet that more than 50% of you people reading this post are at least somewhat concerned about their rank. (What I bet is none of your concern) Why do you think you can't get to the next tier? (Or if you happen to be challenger and apparently reading this post, which is impossible, then 'why do you think you can't get to rank 1 in challenger tier and remain there for a year' would be my question) Is it your mechanics that aren't good enough? Is it your teammates that make you stay at your rank? Is it because every single individual that has a better rank than you are better than you in every single way? NO! It is your amount of game knowledge and time spent on league (and ping XD) that puts you at this rank. Even the best players in the world don't know every single detail that contributes to winning a game. I bet Faker doesn't know every single way to tilt the enemy team using /allchat (Again, what I bet is none of your concern) What IS important is that you know at least the same amount as the people that are better that you. The fastest way to learn isn't to play for 24 hours non-stop. Instead, you watch youtubers play league. This may sound boring at first glace - I mean, who wants to watch someone play video games if you could play it yourself... I personally think that watching people play doesn't help make you a better player. However, there are some types of youtubers that give really helpful information. They usually give uncommon information that is really beneficial if you know it while the enemy doesn't. One example of those useful youtubers would by Phylol. He usually talks about the meta and also how to just get better.

An example of a youtuber that isn't worth the time watching would be NightBlue3. He only shows gameplay highlights and usually doesn't explain why he does things. If you want gameplay footage, go watch faker or bjergsen.

A list I made of useful videos for improving (Don't want you wasting time finding videos) (Check the links before you click them, it might be a disguised url) Map awareness - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rk3NylyBK2E Low elo tips - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kvrgBjK_4g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUDUlUeu6d8 Tips for climbing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPDGmA2quRU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfkoLXbl4IE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6dNMnXRscs Improving playstyles - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQeT_XERd8A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuCv1PWsk7E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAC-lCe8l7Y

These are the most important ones. I don't really want to make a super long list, since if it was too long no one would bother clicking any of them.

Hope this post helped you. Have a good day, and good luck in solo queue.
