Welcome to preseason, and a whole lot of extra issues
> If it matters, for reference, I've been playing the game since late season 3, across all elos, currently plat 4.
Reworks were nice, I actually love the new assassin kits, despite being a bot lane main. But they do their jobs too well.
Katarina - despite not having to build hard AP items (zhonyas, RYLAIS,) has no problem 100-0'ing a squishy walking up and ulting. Increasing her shunpou range to that of Jinx with Rockets at level 15 sure spells counterplay to me. Assassins SHOULD fall off at some point later in the game, since they have more mobility and scale more quickly than other classes, as punishment for lack of roaming or map presence. The extra hp and sustain makes it ridiculously easy to play the champ.
Talon - I can walk up and deal like 7/10 of my laner's hp with one combo level 3-6 easily. Giving me a passive that deals a disgusting amount of bleeding AD within seconds was a bit overboard, and once I'm level 6, it's like taking candy from a baby. It is so stupid easy to do that it's such a slap in the face to more mechanically demanding roles like ADC, where positioning means the most out of any other class, where you're either glass cannon or deal minimal damage to the point where you aren't a major threat anymore, which can only happen assuming you have a ton of gold.
I think ADCs deal about a satisfactory level of damage late into the game. But it'd be nice to see a lot of these assassins buffs tuned down some with a tiny range increase on ADC ranges (maybe 50 units) or movement speed.
The random shit in the jungle is alright I guess. I honestly don't see why you guys insist on drastically changing so many aspects of the game ever year. And it usually gets worse ever year, although it's not that bad this year, with the loss of Strength of the Ages (thank god.) Clearing the jungle is a pain for non-meta picks, though. You talk about diversity but my god I get melted otherwise. Ditching the wolf camp ward and nerfing pink wards without lowering the price or raising the limit didn't seem to leave much room for counterplay. But wow, you gave assassins a ton of options, while quietly sweeping away the fact you've been nerfing a lot of ADC options since last season (QSS, youmou's, BF swords and completed items, zeal, Guinsoo's, Kogmaw, and botrk still sucks balls.)
If you want to call adding a ton of unnecessary extra elements into the game evolving, great, but it's no coincidence I've been spending less RP on the game, and a lot of veteran players and streamers have left the game for good. I can't even bring myself to recommend this game to anyone, especially if it would be their first MOBA. It is overcomplicated as shit. It is Nauseatingly team-oriented where your kills and bounties are evenly distributed across all teammates, even though your top Garen is "tilted" and isn't planning on playing his fullest with your hard-earned gold anyway. CC was always an element but now there's a lot more of it out there, with a lot more champs and other extra effects that do random things. I'm really trying not to look at it from an old timer's perspective but there's no denying the game will continue to be a mediocre experience going down the route it's going now. You can be a 4/1 nidalee and lose hard to an 0/3 poppy. Godbless this game, the real carry roles have become top/mid/jg. To hell with playing ADC this season, it's an autistic nightmare.
