I'm a Bronze Support.... what now?

Hey! So I've been playing League since the beginning of season 5 and didn't hit 30 until just before season 6 and I've hit a snag. I played with the same group of friends and everyone had their set roles to a degree and I went support.Braum Janna Morgana Thresh Sona

From the day I started this game until now I have been the support everyone knows but now that we've recently recruited some new League players my support role has been taken and I have been sacrificed to mid lane. I've been playing a lot of Ahri and shes really fun to play but every time I am up against a Zed or a Katarina I get rekt. I rush item 3157 and hold on to my tower like it was my first born, but I still die and feed. The jungle is a similar experience; I play Amumu and always somehow find a MasterYi taking my red or chasing me down after seeing me because we both wanted that skuttlecrab. After spam pinging the closest laner... I die. With Amumu I find it difficult to chose what to build if I'm going tanky and I always end up going full AP to be a not so useless squishy.

Fellow summoners, How do I stop being a bronze support? How do I efficiently expand my horizons and become bronze something else and maybe silver? I've watched Youtube videos and Streams and try to play the champs that are on free rotation so when I'm in game I know what kind of champion I'm going up against. Maybe I watching the wrong things, maybe i'm doing it all wrong. But my support mentality is not aggressive and I need some opinions or some ways how you summoners can help me change that.

Take morgana into the mid lane since you're used to that champ. Very safe and good wave clear. Then move on to other champs once you get used to laning
