ROUND ONE
Sion shields; his shield is gone in under two seconds.
Darius spends the fight using basic attacks only.
Darius never drops below 90% health;
is made completely useless.
Sion Smites Darius; 20% damage reduction makes no visible change to damage being dealt.
Darius ults Sion,
goes on cooldown.
Darius continues basic attacking Sion, Sion's passive activates.
Darius continues basic attacking Sion, Sion dies.
Darius survives the fight at 100% health.
ROUND TWO
Sion exchanges
for
and
for
.
Sion catches Darius at Baron; Darius has gotten Baron down to half health and has just now started losing his own.
Sion Smites Baron, successfully taking the buff; Darius is down to approximately half health.
Once again, Darius uses only basic attacks.
Despite the fight at Baron and the buff, Sion is still losing the fight.
Sion leads Darius into lane; his shout is still making no dent in Darius' enhanced movement speed from Hemorrhage.
Sion is killed by Darius, who is still using only basic attacks as his health climbs.
Sion manages to kill Darius after dying due to his passive, minions, and damage done by Baron.
In both cases, Sion and Darius were the only two champions involved in the fight and in the former, they both came in at full health.
I ask two questions. One, is it fair that not only can Darius shred tanks, a role explicitly designed to be hard to kill, but can also solo Baron, and then proceed to decimate a near-full-health tank with little to no problem?
Two, with the removal of Executioner's Calling, there is exactly one on-the-fly counter to a lifesteal-based build such as this, and considering the status it left Darius in, it would almost never come into play. Should Riot return Executioner's Calling or at the very least, give another role a way to stop this from happening?
