I'm not improving at this game.

Hello, I've been playing league for about 2 and a half years? (Since Jan 2014) And I started out in silver 2 after 4 months of playing. I stayed in silver the entire season. How I played then compared to now is totally different the only thing consistent is that I like Mid still. I don't like playing most champs unfortunately so i stick to a very small pool, also made a couple smurf accounts like this one. In normals i'll be matched up with gold and plat players but in ranked im stuck with all bronze and low silver, i lost 8 of my placement matches this year lol. Season 5 I was in bronze the entire season, there was no way i could get out until october at the end of the season i got to silver 5. This season I am at bronze 1 starting out. 2 and a half years and still bronze. I watch videos, I watch streamers, I read guides on champions. I just dont know how to improve. Like sure I can read all i want and learn stuff but i just can't apply it.

Most of the things people in higher elos say doesn't even happen in my games. They seem to have teammates that have a clue what they are doing and they can pull of these plays. In lower elos there is no play making usually, it's really all about what YOU can do. There's not much coordination in low elo on teams unless they pick an obvious composition like malph and yasuo. I feel like there's so much about the game that i should know but don't have a clue how to take advantage of it. I don't have any friends who play this game (i'm the only nerd out of the group) so there isn't anyone i can go to for help.

It all just seems pointless to try when it's been this long and I'm still bronze. These people I watch on streams and what not have never even been lower than gold in their entire time spent playing league. Like is this game based on the person you are and your intelligence level or what? Sports are like that where its mostly genetics. Is league like that too? If i'm doing everything people are telling me to do to improve, am i getting bad advice or am i just stuck sucking at this game for life with no chance to ever get better?

Download some replay program, like Skin Spotlight Replays. Watch those replays, and see what you're doing wrong. Improve on the points where you're not doing well. Watch some streams, they can learn you a lot.

And try putting some enters when writing things, it makes a wall of text a lot easier to read. -- What is easier to read? Most of the people in Diamond have been playing since season 1 and played starcraft and warcraft / wow/ or Dota before league came out. Don't feel bad.

And idk try playing OP shit like Hecarim

League is about skill and experience and consistency. If you find that after years of playing you are still in bronze and not going anywhere, it's not that you will never be good. You must have maybe looked at it wrong. For instance when I was bronze, I hated the fact that I was surrounded by toxic idiots who never cooperated or did objectives or anything. They were just concerned about going into lane and dying for 3 creeps. When I posted on forums, people kept raging at me. I was honestly taken aback. I felt like I was being forced to be put in team with idiots and was the only one who consistently had positive KDA or right mind about objectives and warding. But everyone told me "STFU, you are in an ELO where you essentially have to learn to solo carry. Trust me, people in higher ELO's can all solo carry out of bronze and it is a universal skill you have to learn to improve." So I tried. It was annoying. I had to change how I played drastically. Like now I use smart casting when I used to think I could never do it. I also changed from lock view pretty quickly to unlocked.

Now I'm not telling you to conform to everyone's ideal meta. But take a look at it this way. Back in the baseball steroids era, if you DIDN'T use steroids, you were putting yourself at a significant disadvantage. So if you are at competitive ELO and you pick champs that aren't doing well in the meta and you get destroyed in game, you have no one else but to blame yourself. So I learned to at least pick some champs that were decent or strong in the meta rather than just spamming FotM. I learned how to properly counter build even if I didn't like building this path. I learned how to time objectives to match your teammates. Basically most bronze players think like "OK let's drag cmon cmon wtf no one coming wtf now i'm dead." You have to think "OK we can do drag, we can back and try to vision around baron, we can do this and that and that." Never force your teammate onto your own narrow minded path of thinking as they could be thinking about something else. At the same time, in low elo like bronze, always assume you have the biggest idiots or the biggest troll in the team intentionally there to mess you up... all the while you have to be a good teammate to these people.

Over time you learn how to carry. That if you're KDA is high but you lose most games, it's not your teammates fault it's that you don't know how to close out games. You change your perspective on how you look at what's considered "good" or "bad." Like I got to plat. 80% of the community would probably agree plat players are good at the very least. I disagree. I honestly believe the rest of us are basically trash players on average until D1 and above. I bet people who are in D1 or masters believe otherwise. It's a matter of perspective. If you see yourself not making physical progress when rank system is being made easier and easier every season, it might have something to do with you. Not trying to make you feel bad. Just saying try looking at this from a different approach.

Keep at it bud. I had a guy on my friends list who has been bronze for several seasons as well. He was bronze when I was plat 3. Now he is Gold 4 like me (I have since dropped in ranking). He kept at it and was super discouraged just like you, but he eventually got out.

I find the best part to progress in league is to always pick synergy with your team. It makes your teammates look at you and see you as more valuable and then they actually tend to weigh you into their decisions more. What I am saying is, if you have a Yasuo and you don't pick someone with a knock up, then more than likely Yasuo is going to have very little care when you are around. But if you pick someone like Chogath Yasuo is probably going to be riding your ass waiting for a 3+ man ult all game trying to wait for you to set him up to carry.

Yasuo is the easiest example. The same goes with a lot of champs. If you have an ADC that needs peel and you either peel for them or pick someone with a huge initiation more than likely they are going to stick by you if they are smart (but obviously far enough back that they are safe).

The worst thing about league now, is that it is more like DOTA where it is rock paper scissor to the extreme. Pick X comp to beat X comp or tie it.
