Minion changes

Hi guys, riot, or whoever read this. I just wanted to share some of my thoughts on the game and see if anybody here thinks alike. I have been now with LoL for several years and over the time I noticed that riot is trying to make the game more dynamic, which to me equals more fun. Lowering cooldowns on champion skills, changing point-clicks to skillshots, adding "if" clauses (if circumstances are met it deals double damage, etc.). All in all I really enjoyed all these changes, since the game is now more dynamic than ever!

What however bugs me is that one aspect of the game has been almost unchanged for the longest of time. And that is how minions and minion farming works. I will tell it you right of the bat - it is horrifically boring to farm and farm and farm and farm them each game. But unless you are a farmer, you probably gonna lose. Of course teamwork is still more important, but heck those creeps do have a major impact, so don't say no. Now yes, people might tell me, play ARAM, well, aram is too short and mainly its random, I want to play whatever I want, I like Rift. Other people might tell me, play support so you dont have to farm. Correct, but I get bored af while my adc farms instead of engaging and having a PvP instead of a PvE game.

Lets face it, we cannot cancel minions, they are an integral part of the game, though in slew of today's choice of games they are very old school and no longer the modern 'approach'. So why not implement some changes which would make the whole process of farming creeps more action and less of what-number-of-creeps-do-you-have-in-this-minute?

So, my idea. Apologies if somebody already said this (who am I kidding, its the internet, of course somebody did!). Let minions have a gold pool, lets say 20g per minion. Now, each time a champ of opposing team deals damage to a minion he will get a % of the gold to whatever his damage was. Ex. minions has 100% hp you deal 20% of that, you get 4g and minions pool is now lowered to 16g. If the minion was hit by non-allied-champ and it now at 40% health and you dealing 20% damage of his full hp (so 50% of his remaining), you get 10g. If an allied champ hit him for 50% of his hp, he took 10g and that minion now only has 10g left that you can take, with a last hit or with dealing 50% of his hp. So, the benefits are as follows:

  • we get rid of the absolutely boring "you need to last hit, always" dogma, sure by failing to last hit you will lose some gold (that the creep had remaining in his pool, we can even say there is a minimum not 1g but maybe 5g that you cannot get any other way than by last hit) so it will still be important in high levels of play to get those last hits, but it will more allow people to focus on the PvP aspect of the game instead of the PvE aspect which is boring, not modern, and frankly not the reason why anyone plays a competitive MP game anyway
  • you can still freeze lane or execute any tactics concerning creeps to the same measure as before, because if no allied champ did damage to a minion just you with the last hit, you would get the full 20 gold (or whatever gold is originally in the minions pool)
  • it will motivate supports to be careful and not go ape-dung with skillshots on lane, as they will be stealing some gold from adc just by hitting creeps with spells and it will prevent gamers where pure farmer players with no PvP skills win due to hyperfarming (yasuo for ex.). Yes Im aware of counters or ending game quickly, but lets face it 90% of players are bronze or silver and I bet to say they play mostly blinds (I do too, did like 20 rankeds last 2 years), do you think people there want to end a game quickly? No win is not the primary purpose, fun is, and whats more fun than when you are fed and over and over and over again killing enemies? The number of times we were at enemy nexus and peopel started typing "dont end" are beyond count.

For counting in game how many minions somebody has, each time he gets around 20-25 gold from minions it would accrue 1 minion under his count. Anyway it will refocus the game from boring PvE to a proper PvP, where losing some creeps wont have such a major impact as you being crap with your champion. What do you guys think?
