Melee, range, CS and gold
I had an idea recently to boost the last hitting minigame and improve the quality of life for melee champs laning against ranged champs.
My idea is this: Minions that die drop their gold at their feet for ~5s, if a player walks over that gold they pick it up, pretty much just like every old school game that had you picking up powerups. If you get the killing blow on a minion, the gold is automatically transferred to you (just like normal)
I think these changes would drive more action, as players that miss CS would now have the option to recover that CS by putting themselves at risk by walking into the enemy minion wave, creating mini objectives for players to squabble over. This would benefit melee champs much more than ranged, which i think is appropriate as they are already standing at a disadvantage to ranged opponents in lane.
I wouldnt even mind if this was only implemented with diminished returns, so that players are still rewarded more for last hitting, but get 75% of the lost gold by picking it up.
I also think this would help newer players, as getting the hang of CSing at the start can be quite confusing, this would make it REALLY obvious that minions dying drops gold that you have to collect, then last hitting is just a way better way of getting it that doesnt put yourself at risk. It might seem silly that rewarding players for not last hitting would help them learn, but i find that in most cases i have seen that new players just attack stuff without thinking, CSing isnt nearly as intuitive as picking up stuff on the ground, and once they learn that last hitting automatically picks the gold up for you they will try to do that instinctively rather than needing to read a guide.
Anywho, this is my argument for minions dropping gold, If you think its a good idea, give me a like, if you disagree, please leave a comment (reserve dislikes for genuinely bad comments please!) Id like to hear what other players think of this and what unintended side effects could be.
