If "Strategic diversity" is so important to Riot...
Then why does every pro game contain
? Seriously, these guys have been in too many games this weekend to keep it entertaining.

Wait, no
?
Do I smell buffs?

(hopefully Riot won't delete this post again)
There is a fair amount of strategic diversity in pro play, even if the champions themselves aren't that diverse. You still see poke comps, siege comps, split push comps, protect the carry comps, kite comps, pick comps, and dive comps all in the span in the span of a single LCS week. Why is Gragas picked so much? Because he potentially fits in literally all of those. He has the disengage that poke, split push, and protect the carry comps want, the engage that siege, split push, pick, and dive comps want, and he has the tankiness and sustained CC that protect the carry, kite, and dive comps want.
They seriously need to nerf these really bullshit popular champions
and buff the weak ones
so that we can see more diversity.
Since this game literally decides which side wins by champion select and there are a lot of champions that really need some QOL buffs or changes that will allow them to be decent.
Because seeing a lux Lucian zed and ezreal every game is getting really tiring
Lulu 100% pick/ban omg so much strategy and so much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111
"dont nurf lulu shes not op >:((((((((((((((((((((((((("
Rito's definition of diversity is "using less than 10% of the current champ pool".
Because Riot doesn't nerf and buff hard enough.
Morgana in every pro game? That surprises me
Remember when
was 100% pick/ban?
Every year gragas is buffed made god tier then nerfed/reworked.
Corki triforce and ezreal also follow that formula too.
Because there's always a pro meta.
Because these champions work differently in pro play than in solo Q.
It doesn't?
I haven't seen morg in ages in pro play.
I have seen quite a few other top laners other then trundle and malphite.
Kalista Corki and Gragas are all in just about every match though.
To be fair, of the champions you listed, they don't all play the same strategy.
Malphite and Trundle are great for running people down. Gragas' high points are in his fluid engages and disengages. Corki and Morgana are great in sieges. Kalista is a hyper carry. Each of these champions are certainly representing different strategies.
Because they are safe, consistent, and/or game changing? Every one of them is either super mobile with ways to get out of bad situations, Tanky enough to survive almost anything with ways to disengage and get away, or have that 1 ability that can change everything in 1 moment. Or multiple of those at 1 time.
- Valkrie to get away, is able to provide sustained dmg from a distance in multiple positions while simultaneously dealing Both AP and AD
- Belly bump to get away or engage, Keg for long range disengage or pick potential with almost no risk, Sustain passive in jg never gets low, Builds mostly tank + SOA mastery
- Literally hops everywhere, can save her support from any situation. Sustained dmg with ability to help secure objectives
- Super tanky and able to actually steal the stats of the enemy tank with great disengage and engage from a distance, Able to play multiple roles and fulfill multiple jobs
- Literally ultra mega tank that can get away at any time, or make a game changing ult happen in 1 second.
- the ap version of malphite. Black shield makes it impossible to catch a good one or catch her adc, and stuns throughout the entire game usually mean death or summoners gone.
Safe and consistency will always be the choice in the pro scene over risky but might pay off. IMO
Let the troll king have his glory.
Gragas was strong because disengage is strong like Janna is strong. He didn't fit lanes anymore but his jungle wasn't fast enough to be contested-competitive until now. He would still fit comps if he was tuned down, but not super annoyingly pickban. Thing is with Gragas is that he's more or less strong early, but he isn't the old Graggy endgame. He's just not damage anymore when it comes to later game and even with taking kills he's not going to always carry.
Malphite. Does too much damage burst to squishes for his easy initiation. The game would be better if his damage shifted to utility in tanking rather than having to just not miss the ADC.
Morgana and her GG every 8 second forever snare slowly has had its survive rate cut to a minimum. Miss Counterplay Jr. needs to get gutted out of competitive. Elise is a more fair version.
Corki's damage is a little overloaded, but he loses if his safety fails him and gets a cap busted in his mustache. I'd say to keep him where he is for now.
Kalista probably just needs her rend stacks on epic monsters to be capped, because that stuff is just busted. Hops mean nothing for targeted abilities or better poke. I'll have to see more Kalista games I guess.
