Ranked climbing is actually impossible when LP Loss is 20+ due to feeding teammates

I don't understand how I am supposed to climb in ranked at all when literally every game I play no matter how well I do in lane or performance overall whether it be CS'ing, KDA, objective control, etc. All it takes is one feeder on the team to int all game and then rage or ignore the team creating a 4v5 scenario and then the game from that point forward is unwinnable unless the other team has the same issue.

Ranked has become the same scenario every game where even if you do well guess what, because your team fed their asses off you lose 20+ LP and gain 14 per win, effectively making it impossible to climb at all. Why is it my ability to climb in ranked is tied to the performance of others who will do terribly or who just don't care. Why am I being punished more then the person actually inting. It makes no sense.

The MMR Gain/Loss in ranked right now tied to the overarching imbalances with champions going on end without nerfs makes playing ranked not enjoyable at all.

Why can't LP loss be slightly tied or lessened by the performance you have in game? Same with LP Gain. I don't get it. People should not be punished for doing well.

I completely agree. It's all to do with this COMPLETELY IDIOTIC concept of hidden "MMR". They try to make mmr and rank match up, by doing stupid LP tweaking. Its asenine. Make your rank be your rank. Make people only get matched with exactly the same rank. If you win, you get 20 LP. Ifyou lose, you lose 20 LP.

None of this "well you're rank X, but you 'really' belong at rank Y" crap. If you are always being matched with people at your rank, and you win more than you lose, then you should gain a rank. You have Shown that You Deserve It. Then its always easy to understand, and always fair.

Then a player can say to themselves, "when I make it to (gold 3), and get matched with (gold 3 players), I usually lose. So I guess I dont belong at (gold 3) yet" and they can easily accept it.

If you're getting only 14 LP in wins and losing 20LP in losses then your MMR is garbage. The system is trying to lower you to the rank that fits your MMR.

I proved this last season in a rather detailed post with lots of pretty pictures. I had to spend a month purposely falling down through silver, despite throwing all 10 of my placements, and once I got to bronze:

  • For every win you catch a loss. You lose more LP than you gain.
  • If you manage to carry for a streak, and promote to silver, you then get given low bronze players until you fall back into bronze.
  • No matter how well you perform, if you've touched Bronze, you're basically stuck there.
  • No it doesn't count when a challenger player who spends 12 hours a day logged in to LoL manages to carry anyway.

Put simply, this means you aren't supposed to climb because you're actually placed higher than your skill right now.

The object of League is to destroy the enemy's nexus. It is not to get a high KDA, high skill count, high objective damage, win lane, or anything else. It is to destroy the nexus. And that is all that matters. If you focus on your own performance at the expense of your team's unity and cohesion, and this causes you to lose games, you alone are at fault for the loss.

I had the same issue in flex queue I think its a bug honestly. but yea I still wish lp gain was personal performance based more than win based.

dude it's pre-season and they made huge changes, this isn't a healthy time to climb. ROFL

I can confirm that LP gains are definitely bugged for some players right now.

However, in your case, you are not supposed to climb with a winrate below 50%...

Lol. I read your title and thought, "yeah, but with gains of 28 it's possible - just frustrating". If you're losing 20 and gaining 14, league has decided that you don't belong at your current rank. It's going to be hard to climb until you convince the game you belong there or you drop to where it thinks you belong. Lol. I agree with the majority of your post. My advice is play jg or mid and win all 3 lanes. You're going have ass teammates, but if you can win 3 lines it buffers the shit teammates quite a bit. Bot lane is determined by mid/jg - bot has very little agency over the game.
