Why Do ADC's Think They Can a tell You What Support To Play?

KeikaiSekai·5/4/2016, 7:43:25 PM·15 votes·3,736 views

So I'm a support main, and there is always that special adc that tells me what champion to play. I know there's synergy and what not, but you don't see a support telling the adc who to play, or else every adc I carry would be Lucian. I just wonder if anyone else experiences this, and why it's so common?

Sometimes it's helpful to be flexible when people ask you to change champs. Once had an ally Yasuo ask me to pick a different champ because I was picking a melee support when we had melee mid and top already. I thought about it for a second, then had the best idea and told him, "Oh man, do I have the support for you."

I picked Lulu. And every time I ulted Yasuo, sweet sweet airbornes on every teamfight.

Listening to his request made that match GLORIOUS.

Mostly because ADC's are the babies of the lane, and are largely useless without a good support. They ask for a champion that

  1. Fits the team comp
  2. Synergizes well with the adc
  3. The adc is comfortable/familiar with

I know there's the whole "adc's are jerks and supports are saints" stereotype in league, but you have to realize that adc's are put into a very vulnerable position just by picking that role and should be allowed to ask for something that fits their early game needs. You can hate the classic "adc's are jerks" but bottom line is, you need them as much as they need you and the situation is that you should be going something that synergizes well with them. It's just how the relationship works.

I'm not saying it's ok for an adc to bully their support for not doing everything you say, but a support's primary job is to help the adc through their early game. You service them (which does NOT mean you are owned by them). They should appreciate you for your service, as they can't do anything without you, but they should be allowed to ask for something that fits their needs.

ALL the time. Vaynes are especially more bossy towards the support.

Vayne: Pick something with CC and tankyness Me: Picks Sona/Soraka/Janna because that's what i feel like playing. Vayne: nub. (Vayne leaves)

This is hands down my fave scenario.

Don't let any stranger on the internet tell you how to have fun.

No I typically ask the adc if there are any support he would like me to play.

MunchCrunchLunch5/5/2016, 5:17:52 AM2 votes

mostly I see supports asking adcs which they prefer rather than the other way around. there is nothing wrong with it

This isn't support exclusive rofl, I have heard of teammates telling my junglers, midlaners, and even toplaners on who to play on a very regular basis.

If you are seriously finding that a problem, then that's on you. The moment I hear this kind of shit, I will know from the bottom of my head, this teammate is probably bad, and that I can disregard anything he says.

I just lock in Lulu/Sona and babysat and carried their shitty asses anyways.

It's even worse when you pick a non-typical support. I've been called everything from a "Neckbeard troll-picker" to "Kumquat fucking racist" for maining support Gragas.

Because ADCs think that support is their bitch, which isn't the case.

Support is just there to help you get started since most adcs suck badly early game, and them getting ahead has a very big impact on a game.

Just ignore them, I usually mute ADCs that act like I should praise them, hell I would take kills and CS from them to spite them. Not everything is about the ADC which is an unknown concept to them.

What I would do is do what you want to do, but also take into consideration what the team needs/what the enemy has. Like if they have a Blitzcrank, it may not be a good idea to play Soraka or Sona even if you want to since if you lose lane, its very likely you will get blamed and to be honest, it probably was your fault too, either because you got grabbed, or they got grabbed and you had nothing to stop them like a CC champ would. But if you are good at those champs where you are confident at the matchup, go at it, just better be ready to prove you can not be a hinderance.

whoever picks second should be able to pick a champ that synergies with their lane partner cant count the time ive picked leona for an adc teemo to show up facepalm

I usually don't have an issue switching up my roll in PVP or "rotations"...but when I have a full line of Tanks or ADC's and they expect a support...HA! No. Quinn or Twitch or Tryndamere would be my go to's from there on out.

I don't get why people demand specific champs to be played when you damn good and well know that people play with certain strengths and weaknesses...and the most common weakness is the most obvious! People forget to build ARMOR to protect themselves from getting 1 - 3 shotted by a mediocre Katarina or some other burst damage champ.

When I get ranked people in AI or ARAM see the build i go with for my character...I get called a noob, flamed, and "reported" for feeding and being unsportsman-like.

There will always be toxic mofo's in games like this. Best bet is to take it with a grain of salt and just move forward from there.

lostbob1175/5/2016, 2:50:03 AM1 votes

Because we don't want a support that we can't work with. If you pick Leona for an ADC that wants to sit back, relax, and farm then you both won't well together. Where you could have picked Janna instead and helped out a lot more for that ADC.

siilentdeath5/5/2016, 2:54:50 AM1 votes

only demand i make as an ADC is that the support pick a legit proven support none of these champions. then play like a support and not build pure apc with no warding or sightstone purchase. champions i have gotten as support this season that were WTF are Azir AurelionSol Kindred Lucian LeeSin Trundle Yorick Mordekaiser Illaoi not making this stuff up.

"but you don't see a support telling the adc who to play"

Then you don't play league of legends

Tentacle Love5/5/2016, 1:07:07 PM1 votes

YOUR adc shouldn't determine the support you play. The ENEMY adc should be the deciding factor.

MrLlamaWaffle5/5/2016, 5:41:44 PM1 votes

I usually don't mind, usually just means that the support they want me to play is one they are comfortable laning with, fine by me.

SpongebobIsLife5/6/2016, 2:45:29 AM1 votes

I think it comes down to the fact that certain supports fit their playstyles better. For example, if you have a draven main, you do not wanna pick a passive support like raka or janna. Also, some people just dont play well with certain champs, for example, Supports make 90 percent of the plays in the bot lane, therefore play making supports snowball faster. On the other end of that, there are players who prefer to just farm a lane out and not really get aggro as adcs scale harder with cs (items) then most champions and do not want to risk getting behind. I do not say this to sound rude, but adcs are supposed to be the carry, so anyway that you can help them carry is beneficial for you and for your team.

Around999People5/4/2016, 7:55:28 PM1 votes

I see this pretty often, but 90% of the time its for the team not just the adc. Like, ADC asks me to be a tank, so I check my team and we have no tank so I go Thresh. Stuff like that.

theragingnerd5/4/2016, 8:02:24 PM1 votes

its just in the best interest of the team to pick what the team needs these people are saying this because they want the team to win and as your lane partner they are the most qualified to ask this

spombjop5/4/2016, 7:52:47 PM1 votes

pick raka always when is not banned. i don't play supp but i always win when i do with raka
