Jungle Failing with Sejuani

I really want to make it through the jungle with Sejuani. But her first time through isn't survivable.

Maybe I'm not using the right rune set, but that alone shouldn't make or break 1 jungle run. I would like to believe that having ANY runes/masteries (a full set) it would make the 1st jungle clear, depending on the set up, anything from easy - mediocre, and at least finishing with enough HP for a gank at lvl 3.

I'm starting with W at lvl 1, E at lvl 2, Q at lvl 3.

I would recommend taking Q a level 2, since it allows you to gank, escape, or interrupt monsters' attacks to reduce damage taken.

I can't see your runes and masteries, but if you are having difficulties clearing then I would recommend:

  • Backing after you clear one side of the jungle
  • Purchasing Ranger's Trailblazer (Poacher's Knife is the worst option, especially for a champion like Sejuani).

Also, I would recommend building Cinderhulk instead of Runeglaive on her.

I prefer to go W>Q and when I hit 3 I make the decision on if I feel safe enough to clear the rest of the jungle. It is survivable, but will leave you incredibly low and if the enemy jungler comes they WILL kill you. If I am going to try to clear it, I go W again at level 3, if not I back and get E.

I, like jefftiffy run tank runes. I want to say it's armour marks, hp seals and quints with 5% cooldown for glyphs and scaling MR for the rest of the glyphs.

So, I'm not sure what your mastery/rune pages are, but in my experience this absolutely can make/break your initial jungle clear. There's some micro that you can do to help the clear, but ultimately a lot of it is just your stats against the jungle, and if you're not using an optimal set, that could be the difference between finishing a final camp and wasting time/backing early.

If you tell me what the names of your pages are, I'd be happy to look them up and lolking and let you know if there are any obvious optimizations to make. Again, these optimizations really can make the difference. To give one example: I'm a low-level player and admittedly a bit bad at jungle micro with Jarvan IV. I actually use the Bladed Armor mastery on Jarvan (which almost no pros do) because it helps my initial clear a lot. (Pros are good enough at the micro that they can get away without it, so they take a more effective mastery for PvP.)

I like to go W Q personally especially if any of the enemies are easily gankable (lvl 2 gank against lvl 1s can be very strong and even force flashes) otherwise I go E. If not I wait until I get 3 on my first back then going for a gank or continue farming. I always take tank masteries on her as HP = damage and gank presence is in your kit.

her early is weak and she needs a lot of gold to be relevant. I switched over to amumu, similar playstyle with a little less mobility, easier to play when behind, cries on tanks, can make plays and set the team up for success.

The embarrassing thing is that I'm a veteran player. And I've played ol' Sej for years. But only recently dusted her off and started jungling with her for the last several months. But it seems like with maybe recent tweaks to the jungle, her first clear has gotten worse since even last Sept. I dunno.

Maybe I'm just old now and things like 2 "seasons" ago wasn't that long to me. Lol.

After a lot starting and restarting custom matches experimenting with armor +CD runes or HP,Armor+CD or magic pen. And different masteries, I've realized I may need to have Full tank masteries instead of 8-22-00 which I was previously using(and failing). And I need to make a range page with using mostly HP runes w a few Armor with CD blues.

I've also added the Baron-side river bug while I still have the blue buff to my first run and it certainly helps. Duh. Stupid me.

Still in the works, and I appreciate the help. In the mean time, I'm biting peoples faces off with Volibear.

I WILL rule freljord!

I also forgot to mention try to time your Q's for popping up the jungle creeps in the middle of their attack animations. It can drop the damage you take per camp drastically (even stopping 1 attack from a camp saves you 75+ hp).
