@Riot - Dynamic Queue Makes Me Want To Stop Maining Support
Support has always been my favorite role. When dynamic queue came out, the idea of getting to play support or another role of my choice sounded awesome. Even better, when I got support I figured would be guaranteed to have someone on my team who specialized in playing ADC, which was previously my biggest complaint as a support.
Unfortunately, this last part has turned out to feel hideously untrue. The ADC players that I get on average are so much less experienced at the ADC role than the average ADC I typically had under the old queue system that it's almost laughable. At first this puzzled me to no end. Recently, however, I've developed a theory as to why.
I get a LOT of duo and trio queues on my teams. This means that I get matched up against a lot of duo and trio queues. All things being equal, however, I am much more likely to get matched up with the duo and trio queues who don't have a support main. And when ADC mains duo or trio queue, they probably are more likely to do so with someone queuing up as support. So if there are two duo or trio queues to be assigned to teams, I am more likely to get the one that doesn't have an ADC main.
Now wait a minute, won't each team have a player who has selected "bot"? Of course they will, but not all of these players are equal. Players selecting bot as their first choice likely are much more dedicated to the role and have spent a lot more time playing it. A large number of the ADCs that I get in my games have most of their games mid/top/jungle who had to choose another role because they are playing in a duo/trio queue and didn't want to select support. I also get a surprising number of support mains who accidentally selected "bot" instead of "support".
I'm just ranting, and I don't have any of the data, but you do! I'm very curious if you were to look at a break down of win rates for supports in bronze/silver for those that are in a duo/trio queue vs those playing solo if it would show a discrepancy. Anecdotally, it FEELS that way, and I've actually heard the same thing from ADC mains as well.
