It might be time to do what you did to Kog'maw to the entire game @RIOT
Like, it might be time to just give up and admit some problems. The changes you made are not working and are affecting a large portion of the community. Like that person who's thread got on the front page of the boards said, it isn't just a vocal minority of bronzies, it's a massive portion of high ranked players.
Even some of the top pro players are dissatisfied with the state of the game. You literally just put out an article about Rekkles and his troubles in EU. He's getting force out of his role by meta shattering changes. Somehow, you tried to justify that using TP among other things as an example, but that doesn't change the fact that your changes have been bad for the game. Something that shatters the Meta isn't always a good thing.
Doublelift said it the best in his recent content pieces and interviews. Faker is having to play Taric and then benched. Faker was more than just a really fucking good player, he was an inspiration to players by showing how fucking awesome a player could become with enough practice. Back then, people who looked up to pro players tried to be better players because we admired their skill and shared their enthusiasm for the game.
Back to the Kog'maw thing, it just time to give up pretending that everything's alright. This is a bit larger then just swapping around a few things on a champs kit to make people happy. I think Season 8 has been a failure, so at this point, here's what I would do: Give up, be transparent, and talk to the big names of this game that make people stick around. If you are really transparent and really take criticism and ideas to heart for a good few patches, then maybe the game gets fixed by worlds and Pre-season. I don't know. There are so many tournaments and pro play matches that happen, that it is going to be hard to make drastic changes. What I think is that a bit of Turbulence in the scene for the summer season might be the only way to guarantee viewership and a healthy game community.
The only thing left to say is that we are behind you. We as a gaming community, from the bronzies to Faker and Crown, share a passion for this game unlike any other game out there. The game has changed from the small prize pools of season 1, but the passion the first players shared is still alive here. If the game has to go through a turbulent time, we will be there to support you but also to criticize. So, IDK, Good luck or something. I won't be playing too much for a while, but I'm gonna follow League news and pro play. Maybe something comes out or changes and my passion is reunited, IDK.
