Is Azir dissapointing to anyone else?

Idk what it is but I feel dissapointed in Azir. Between the lack of clarity in his abilities, the clutter he causes visually (the sand tethers to his warriors are just a nuisance, he just needs a simple direction indicator like orianna and zed have) or the many bugs he has, I'm pretty bummed out..

First is his warriors. They just don't make sense to me... The fact that his warriors are basically his basic attack yet they don't benefit from on hit effects like Lich Bane is just weird to me. I understand that riot is treating them as if they were abilities, but that just seems wrong. I mean Kayle can still proc Lich Bane even though she's technically using a magic ability that lasts for a set amount of time to damage her enemies when she auto attacks (sounder familiar?).

There is only ONE AP item that gives you AP and Attack Speed and it has an on hit effect... so if you wanted to build azir as an attack speed champion you would have to buy some kind of NON AP attack speed item or buy multiple Nashors.

The whole concept of Azir being a champ that commands his army to do his bidding doesn't really fit either... what kind of emperor can't multitask? And what kind of warrior has to be commanded on every single attack?

IMHO you should have 2 ways to build Azir

AD: His warriors should be a targetable entity that scales off AD and Attack Speed, and is capable of criting. They should also auto attack in the same way any other spawned entity does (Zyban plants, Shaco box, etc...) and prioritize champions that are in their range.

The warriors would literally subtract the AD they get from Azir's items. (Like how new soraka takes AP from Armor & MR stats) So if u buy an item with 80 AD you get like 40 and the Warriors get 40 + some kind of bonus amount. As you level up his W the warriors take a larger chunk of the AD. This kind of build would use Azir's other abilities as utilities used to position your warriors and yourself.

AP: Building Azir AP would put more focus on using his warriors as basically a medium for his spells damage(using his Q) or using them as ameans to dash to your apponent while imbuning yourself with magic (using his E). This would put less focus on Attack Speed and more on him being bursty.

As for his passives (since having an attack speed passive yet building bursty doesn't make much sense) I would have made his tower passive scale off his AP. This way you have a passive for both build styles. Another change to his Tower Passive would be to make it so he can use his W on the tower to heal it. The same way he can use his W to damage other towers (this would only effect his own passive tower not the normal towers).

Before anybody starts giving me hell for all this just please keep in mind these are my observations and suggestions on Azir, and that everybody has rights to their own opinions...

The reason he's different than other mages, and part of what makes him fun to me, is the aspect of using the soldiers and clever positioning. PLENTY of times, a kill has slipped by that one more AA with a soldier would have done due to my poor positioning. But this reliance on auto attacks makes people who actually play marksmen normally be able to pick up a mid lane position that may interest them more than the typical magic-casting champions, much the same way Lucian opened up the ADC role to people who enjoyed casting spells. It's simply a different style of play.

There's also simply the fear factor of having Azir's soldiers staring in your face as you rush down a lane. Personally, I like this aspect, but again, I love pretty much all mages in general.

To be fair, there are definitely still some bugs with Azir. However, I feel like he'll be a niche champion with an average to slightly below average pick-rate after his hype wears down.

New Soraka no longer converts Armor/MR into AP. I personally would've just liked a Sand Mage that actually uses things like quicksand, sand dunes and sand storms for abilities rather than a Puppeteer. I never liked his E either.

The most viable change in my opinion for Azir to make his AD build more interesting would be to give his soldiers an AD ratio on autoattacks. Specifically, total bonus AD should work fine with his current scaling. However, oh-hit effects may be tricky. I'd imagine gunblade would be viable with such a build.
