Riot should bring back High elo Spectating.

Alright. so don't get me wrong. this Isn't a hateful post at all. infact i love riot. but I'm sure we should remember the feature riot use to have that Allowed you to spectate high elo games at the bottom right of your screen. I have no idea why riot removed this but i think it is a great feature. People who are new to the game can find that a way as A) Seeing high elo gameplay B) learn about a champion, and C) overall Observations. This helped me when i was new set a goal for my rank and learn about my main at the time Katarina. I feel as if new players of now should still be filled with the excitement of scrolling through and seeing a high elo summoner playing as their character. My moral is i think riot should bring that feature back. What do you think?

Or better yet, have a search filter to watch a game that have a specific champ. There are some occasions I just want to watch a high elo game with Soraka in it but every time I spectate a game, it's always Thresh, Nami or Braum.

Riot:

"Why waste time spectating high elo games when you can be bombarded with LCS stuff?"

"Why look at games from your server when you can watch the same people from Korea over and over again?"

"Why waste client space on a game spectate option when 70% of the client home page can be covered by the body of this amazing fat asian? "

LC$ sells. Local Diamond/Master games don't. It's all marketing.

Almighty.

I loved it when I started to play. I often spectated them playing and at first I thought it was just random games. It took me a while to notice it were games of the best players. It may not be as educating as watching pro streams, but it's interesting on its own. You can actually spectate good player, analyze the game play without some streamer talking or trolling and stuff. I think it's a feature that should be brought back.

I was a very new under level 30 player in late 2015. I really loved watching high elo people play the game. It was exciting and I felt like there were so many great things for me to learn.

Never got a chance to experience this but, well it sounds awesome so have my upvote dude.

KaijuJaeger11/3/2017, 8:42:34 PM3 votes

Yes, I completely agree. It helped me get better with Riven when I started.

Sometimes I just didn't want to play a game of League, but I would just watch a bunch of high elo matches. It was an epic way to watch games without needing to use lolnexus or whatever.

Spice POWAH1/3/2017, 7:53:13 PM2 votes

You know, it seems that they no longer have the spectating eye for when you look at the people in challenger, so it's even harder to see high elo games than before without going to legacy client.

ramadino1/3/2017, 11:20:39 PM1 votes

Rito is not gonna do it because they want people to watch streams not ingame spectates

B1naryB0t1/3/2017, 7:01:48 PM1 votes

My memory is hazy, but I think the reason they took it away was that some high elo players complained they were losing potential viewers from their streams.

I remember going through any games I could find until I saw the champions I wanted to play, learn, or just enjoyed in general to learn what I could about them and get better. Its how I learned that you could stealth while backing as twitch, the potential of karts, and how to play viktor properly. I really see no reason why they shouldn't bring it back.

If there was an issue with things like people not wanting to be watched while playing there plenty of ways around that such as removing names of the players.

They benefit more from their more-fun-to-watch-than-play game being watched on Twitch than in the League client. Twitch provides free advertising for LoL and the client does not.

Wow alot more people responded then i thought. LETS SPREAD THIS AND MAKE RIOT BRING IT BACK

PeachsProperty1/4/2017, 9:24:38 AM1 votes

zaire901/4/2017, 9:44:42 AM1 votes

i was just thinking this too surprised im not the only one that wanted this anyone know why they got rid of it

cocacolalips1/4/2017, 6:15:26 PM1 votes

For the ppl interested, this is Riot official stance on the matter

There aren't any plans currently to bring exactly that feature back. We removed it from Home in the legacy client when we upgraded to requiring HTTPS for all content we display (out of a desire to keep you more secure). We also saw very low engagement with the feature, and in general it didn't align very closely with any specific intent.

If we were to build a replacement in the future, it would probably provide better controls over which games you could spectate (champions, matchups, level of play, things like that).

Definitely upvoted.

I miss this feature and would love to see the return of high elo spectating. Very handy especially when wanting to watch some of one's favourite champions being played at such a high level as well.
