(I looked you up on the LoL Client and you're only level 24, but you say you played ranked last season? Anyway...)
Platinum jungle main here! I made it up to Plat 2 75 LP earlier this season, but I had a huge losing streak and fell all the way back down to Plat 5 0 LP. Rather than risk falling back into Gold, I decided to just cut my losses and play strictly normal games to improve for next season.
Tip #1: While farming your jungle, keep your eyes glued to your minimap (you don't need to watch your champion autoattack Gromp 15 times, and you know he won't dodge any abilities), and ping whenever you see anything worth pinging, including:
- Enemy laner that's been out of vision for at least 5 seconds, but if it's a Twisted Fate or Shen, only 3 seconds can be worrisome.
- Whenever you spot the enemy jungler, or whenever you see anything that indicates the enemy jungler's position (Scryer's bloom cone of effect is visible on the minimap, even if you don't have vision of where the plant came from).
- Dragon/buff/baron/rift herald spawn timers, if you think you might be able to take one.
- That you're on your way to a gank. Always ping at least twice.
- If you're being invaded, ping for assistance. Your team might not always or often won't respond, but it's sometimes the best you can do if you're going to die with no hope of escaping.
- (anything else you might deem worth pinging, these are just a few basics)
Tip #2: Know when to deviate from a standard jungle item build path. For example, when I play Camille jungle (not often), at my first back I prefer to buy a Tiamat, then finish my jungle item later. This really helps in clear time. On Diana, I build an early Aether Wisp (before a Stalker's Blade), which not only assists her ganks from the bonus movement speed, but also buffs all of her spells with the increased AP. Oftentimes, simply knowing what items to build and when will give you a pretty decent advantage (this applies to all roles and champions, not just jungle).
Tip #3: Try to predict where the enemy jungler is, and coordinate counterganks with your laners. In general, most champions make their first clear in roughly the same amount of time, give or take 10 seconds or so. Assuming both junglers received a leash from their bot lane, then went to wolves/raptors/, then to the other buff, many players will then try to gank either mid or top at level 3. In most cases, this will happen at around the 3-minute mark. Conserving your first ward until this point can help you figure out what the other jungler plans to do. For the first few minutes of the game, the enemy jungler will usually have a position similar to yours, mirrored over the river. Some people like to purposely change this to mess up the other jungler, but most players in Bronze/Silver probably won't think to do that.
Tip #4: Know if you're likely to be invaded. Here's a short list of junglers who often invade early in the game to cheese an early kill or steal a buff:
- Ivern (perhaps the most likely to do so)
- Kayn
- Twitch
- Lee Sin
- Rengar
- Shaco
- Kindred (possibly just to take a mark)
- Nidalee
Tip #5: If you, at anytime, gank an enemy laner and you or your teammate dies without either of you getting a kill, immediately mute that teammate. Sometimes I mute the whole team. Don't say anything about it; just mute them, take a breath, and move on. Nearly all necessary information can be communicated through pings, and people like to blame the junglers for their own stupid mistakes, like re-engaging with 50 hp. In order to keep your own cool so you can carry the game, you never have to know what they're saying to/about you. Same goes if you haven't ganked a lane that's losing (whether you haven't been able to, or just haven't gotten around to it yet). They will often ping right over your face multiple times, or ping their own tower multiple times, which can be both irritating and distracting. Just mute them pre-emptively (pings too, if you must), and carry on with the game.
Hope these help!
