My AR URF experience, Please share yours (Also a few other random things)
Please keep in mind i posted the following in a League of Legends group I participate in locally on FB so theres a line that will look kinda weird as it is about me coming here for a source, however please if you have time read and please respond i you feel you have anything to add or suggest.
To everyone who has spent their weekend down time to enjot the AR URF game mode, im interested in your feedback. As im sure most of you have had the chance to play URF mode prior to the random version they have just graced us with and although we were all warned they added the random feature in it Im sure we all just paid that very little mind and were just excited to be able to play URF mode.. However I really think riot used this mode that they know out of any other rotated game mode has been the most successful in players experience to try and lure players in to enjoying the game mode but also trying to expand their champion pool. I myself noticed almost every game (almost being 95%) that my champion is a champion that i dont ever play or have very little experience on. I believe any time I was able to play a champ I knew I would rek with was because a teammate was nice enough to switch me. I mean, what better way for riot to help us learn new champs than in a game mode you have oppourtunity to spam their abilities and have more chance to understand the combos that work best in situations. granted its harder when you have to factor in everyone has the short cooldowns so when you face players with experience in their champ you have more pressure on you, but that is also how you have even the more opportunity yourself if you can outplay them to feel more rewarded from the game when you are using a champ you felt handicapped from generally due to just not having played them much before. I mean I could be totally wrong, especially since I have only my own AR URF games to factor in my theory, but I have logged in leagueoflegends.com and scrolled the boards and see a lot of other people claiming not just they have been given champs they dont play but moreso champs people believe are weaker in such a gamemode and less likely being given champs that are considered op in the game mode. i dont think itd be hard for riot to code in the game that your given champion come from a bottom percentage champion you play. Which would not only give you a chance to learn them but disable you from getting a champ you play a lot and be able to just run over the other team. I think people who have more champions they enjoy probably spend more time in the game when they log just to be able to satisfy themselves playing the various champions than someone who mains one or two people and can get easily bored. I think if riot didnt have some kind of undercover intention on this and im just thinking too much then in the future it would be smart of them to implement in a game mode (this one in particular as i feel it would be easiest on their part) so people can get out of always playing their main and possibly find a new champ that they will enjoy and be able to have a larger selection of champions they can play so eventually you would think that would help you improve overall, just from your knowledge on new champions can help you even if they are on your enemy team by knowijng their capabilities and weaknesses and giving you more counter picking abilities when you play more competitively. I played this game for a good 6 months as Lux mid only, I have almost a 300k mastery score with her, until literally I had friends who would just be like dude, expand you champion pool or even ban her from me just because they were tired of me spamming her every game (which was the best thing they couldve done) Before i finally reached out to other mages and honestly now I barely play Lux because i find her weaker since branching out and discovering champs I cliqued with that I wouldve never expected. I must also thank Hextech crafting for the main expansion of my champion pool, because every three champion shards I would reroll for a champion and then after unlocking the champion I would give them a go and test them out. Not to mention when you get skin shards you think look cool so you feel more determined to gain skill with the champion so you can show off your cool skin. I know this is a long post and i kinda jabbered about more than just what I intended to but the morale of the story is people really need to pick outside their comfort zone and open up to trying out new champs. Even if you only play them once (theirs many champs ive only played once) if anything just being able to see how they work for yourself is good knowledge you can take with you in future games. An example, first time I played Karthus I discovered his long cooldown on his R, that has helped me be able to time him ulting me in all future games when I played against him. Zhonyas is always a must for me because the cooldowns will match for you and you should be able to counter his ult anytime that youd need to with it as long as its not used in other situations, granted you wont need to zhonyas for each of his ults because it may not be much of a risk. But knowing the cooldowns of champions abilities is always helpful, being aware of champions passives and their potential will never fail you if you can keep them in mind, and having a good idea of the damage each champion can put out is a great advantage and resource for you to use to make smarter plays and be able to predict their plays From my experience in playing the game Ive learned that outplaying your enemies is the key to victory (although their are other keys as well) that is basically unrecoverable for the enemy. The outplay will either just give you the advantages in your teams push or just tilt you enemy personally into letting their emotions continue their downfall. And their is no better way to be able to outplay your enemies than knowing their characters and being able to use that knowledge to build plays for your team to come out on top. So if RIOT did put a perk in the game mode to have us play champs outside our normal go to's then kudos to them. It may have people upset for now as they feel like URF was watered down but in the end you will eventually have a situation in which you have a better base of knowledge to make an outplay due to the fact the person you are outplaying is playing someone you only experienced for yourself in the all random mode. IDK, anyones input on their AR URF experiences and champions is appreciated as well as your input on what you think about more champion knowledge is an advantage and if it is necessary to have to be better and how you think players can benefit from it. Id like to hear anyones thoughts and appreciate you all anyways who took the time to read my thoughs.
