Reason why you should complain about hextech boxes:
Blind box systems for nontradeable digital goods are scuzzy at best.
If you were able to trade shards? It would be a lot better than it is now. But there really is no incentive, financially, for them to make a system like that. Blind boxes/loot boxes are there to make money for a company through artificial scarcity.
And they rely on a few tricks to make folks to concede and let them perpetuate. One of which is the tasters, the free samples given out to folks. This isn't (entirely) goodwill on the business' part; this is a strategy to break the ice so that folks feel a lot less apprehensive about getting more, as well as to give ammo about it being a "free system".
It's really not. To get much out of those at all, you need to invest a fair bit in it.
Currently you can open a maximum of, what, roughly 140 per year, from grades at least, if you don't pay or get gifted any. And there's been videos of people opening nearly that many, if not more in one sitting, never mind the dripfed 10 or 20 every few weeks some folks get?
Yeah, sure, you can very occasionally get a BIG thing from it but that's really not a good reason to invest heavily in it. Never mind that because of how they had changed up its implementation, you also now need to burn a lot of chaff to get that thing.
If you like this system, more power to you. If you don't mind digital blind boxes, then fair enough. But I don't like them. I really do mind them. I complain about them because they're designed to entice obtaining more and more of them.
And if that annoys you, then you can just look away from my comment. I'm faced with looking at this system pretty much every time I log in, so.
Since when do Hextech Chests give skins? All the hundreds of them I've opened only give champion shards.
