Reward Good Gameplay - Jungling/Bounties/Advantages
With the reworks of dragon, baron and the addition of the scuttle crab, you guys started rewarding map and objective controls and strong personal and team gameplay - creating a definitive winning and losing team. This is an idea that needs to be more explored and fleshed out, and accessible personal goals for each position. Currently, jungle is the most expansive role and there are a few more avenues to explore.
Despite this, the videogame at its base mechanic level creates a handicap for bad players. When Garen got reworked and killing Garen gave him a buff against you was considered "bad for gameplay," but this mechanic exists every time you get a kill streak. Although it is less visible, if the other guy has a lot of kills because you played poorly you get rewarded if you somehow take him out - enough to marginalize all his efforts and your mistakes.
I believe that ranked mode should be for more serious gameplay, and rewarding players for being bad is as healthy as is flaming them for it. I view normals as "fun mode" or just practice stuff, so it might be better to only apply some of these to ranked modes.
There are 4 kinds of junglers:
- Junglers that only farm
- Junglers that gank
- Junglers that counter jungle
- Junglers that do all three
The game, however only really rewards players who can both farm and gank consistently - but this is not usually a common situation in lower level gamplay. However, these suggestions will more-so reward higher level jungle gameplay and give map domination more vitality.
- Clear of entire jungle path will generate bonus gold for team (excluding jungler)
- Selfish/afk jungle farming generates toxic environment
- Teammates at a disadvantage - get pressured/ganked, do not get ganked
- Sometimes, jungler farms up and is a poor player causing team to decidedly lose
- Instead, make a complete clear generate bonus gold for teammates
- Compensates for lack of ganks
- Allows winning teams to further gain lead, allows struggling laners to get by
- Specifically rewards junglers who clear and gank
- Smite-users gain Kindred like icons with the jungle camps
- Each successful clear places a stack on the icon
- Each full clear (not counting scuttle, dragon, or baron) will cash in for gold
- Does not reward junglers who do not finish clear
- Allies clearing buffs still generates stack
- Allows jungler to share buffs
- Does not force jungler to selfishly hoard buffs
- Clearing enemy jungle camps generate bonus gold for team (or just jungler)
- Rewards and promotes good, aggressive gameplay
- Denies round of bonus gold for enemy team
- Poachers
- Unreliable item, usually poor choice, or only used in smurf games
- Instead, allows avenue to reward based on gameplay instead of item build
- Allow poachers to be removed or redesigned into something more reliable
- Scuttlecrab clears gives global gold
- Scuttlecrab should be more impactful, rewards good map control
- Make the gold global on either jungler kill or non-smiter kill
- Assists still give gold
- Devourer gains only 1 stack? - Will slow down devourer sated time, probably necessary nerf
BOUNTIES
I sure this should be changed for ranked SoloQueue, could still be fine in 5-man games. Having bounties is fun if you want plenty of comeback opportunities, but it really nullifies good gameplay. Players should not get rewarded for feeding a few kills and then getting comparable gold back.
- Allow good players to carry games and climb the ladder
- Bad players will not be able to comeback and fall down the ladder
- Sounds bad for their teammates, but those bad players will fall down ladder quicker instead of saying there by getting by off shutdown gold
- Reduces toxicity as bad players will be playing with bad players, good players will play with good players
- Changes focusing to players based on necessity, rather than going for the gold
- Decrease game length - i want late game to feel LATE game
Basically, make skill differences more identifiable. Games become more fun and challenging. People will be in the brackets they deserve more reliably.
