Ranked Season Ending

Curiosity: I am aware that the ranked season has ended, and that rewards have started to roll out, etc. However, what will happen if I go into a solo Q game now? Will it count as my preliminaries, or will it count as a branch off of S5? My ranking has not been reset yet, and I really do not want to take the chance to get demoted out of gold.
