Riot please, I really want to love Bard

Even with the new buffs, he's still rocking a 40% win rate and every time I play him (because I love his design and have his skin) I think to myself, "what am I bringing to this match right now that's anywhere near as good as any other support?"

The answer is nothing at all. Everything he can do every other support can do ten times better. The only reason I play him is because I love the way he looks and sounds. There's absolutely no reason to pick him over any other support.

Has there ever been this lackluster of a champion release before?

He needs to, at the very least, be tankier and faster.

His win rate hasn't updated since the patch. You'll have to wait until the weekend to get any data on him.

EDIT: On the subject of Bard, I imagine he is still rather subpar. But I wouldn't say he does nothing other lanes don't do. I think he's the only support in the game who, if tuned correctly, will at least in some way support all 3 lanes at once. He can fit into some team comps that wouldn't exist without him - particularly those with particularly weak laners in top and mid that might need some help, as long as your ADC is one that can handle themselves like Cait.

only thing i don't like about him is his q it is to wide and too hard to get the stun through a minion it usually hits the minion next to it instead of passing through and i wish his med kits got stronger faster 10 secs is pretty long other than that i like him

He can do plenty of things other supports can't do: It's just that a lot of it isn't really relevant, especially outside of the laning phase.
