Champion Concept: Hih'San, the Void Imposter
Okay, so I've been having some ideas for champions lately, but haven't had the time to actually create an actualy document for them, so here's my first League of Legends champion concept released to the public.
Hih’San The Void Imposter Health: --/-- Attack Damage: --/-- Mana: --/-- Attack Speed: 0.675/1.000 Health Regen: --/-- Armor: --/-- Mana Regen: --/-- Magic Resist: --/-- Ranged: 450 Move Speed: 335 Main resource: Mana.
[Passive] Void Charged Claws Hih’San’s basic attacks consist of a laser, dealing [100 x attack speed] of total AD per second. On-hit effects like Spellblade are procced on the first tick of damage, though on-hit effects like Devourer’s magic damage and Blade of the Ruined King’s unique passive are applied every 100% of AD. Additional Information
- The logic behind the formula “100 x attack speed” is that a normal basic attack, take for instance Vayne, will apply this amount every second, because with 1.000 attack speed, Vayne will deal 100% of her AD, and thus 62.5% of her AD if she can attack 0.625 times every second.
- The logic behind the formula “On-hit effects like Devourer’s magic damage every 100% of AD” is that with normal basic attacks, the same occurs. With 1.000 attack speed, the on-hit effects are applied every second, but with 2.500 attack speed, it’s applied 2.5 times. Spellblade effects are an inconsistent on-hit effect, requiring an ability to be cast, thus applying it on the first tick of damage would be logical.
- Basic attacks aren’t blocked by Yasuo’s Wind Wall or Braum’s Unbreakable, as for the basic attacks aren’t utilizing projectiles.
- Unlike other champions, Hih’San’s basic attacks apply on-hit effect such as Devourer’s magic damage on structures, though Blade of the Ruined King’s unique passive only deals 3% of the targeted structure’s current health every second.
- Hih’San cannot move while basic attacking.
[Q] Void Ray Range: 900(cast range), 275(hitbox diameter) Cooldown: 10/9.5/9/8.5/7 (after last ray disappears) Mana Cost: 40/45/50/55/60 PASSIVE: Magic Penetration is reduced by 50% on this ability. ACTIVE: Hih’San conjures three dark solar rays that fall down at the cursor’s location, with 0.625 second intervals between every ray. Each ray deals 60/125/190/255/320(+55% AP)(+60% Bonus AD) magic damage and slows for 20% for 2 seconds. Any rays that hit after the first on the same target deal 20% reduced damage, down to a minimum of 40%. Additional Information
- Because of the passive, Void Staff’s magic penetration is reduced to 17.5% and Sorcerer’s Shoes and Haunting Guise to 7.5 on this ability each.
- The rays can deal up to 134/300/456/612/768(132% AP)(+144% Bonus AD) if successfully hitting every ray on the same target.
- The time between the initiation of the ray and the landing, when is deals the damage, is 0.9 seconds, meaning the rays can be easily dodged by a skillful player.
- This ability has no cast time.
- This ability isn’t considered a projectile and thus is not blocked by Yasuo’s Wind Wall or Braum’s Unbreakable, though Braum doesn’t receive any damage from the first ray, if he is facing Hih’San and has not blocked any projectile since he casted Unbreakable.
- This applies spell effect as an AoE ability, reducing Spell Vamp to one-third effectiveness and Rylai’s Crystal Scepter’s slow to 40% for 1 second.
[W] Withering Crystals Range: 1500(cast range) Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10 Mana Cost: 50 Initial, 40 Per Second. PASSIVE: Hih’San’s basic attacks and spells place Void Gems on his targets, dealing 10(5% AP)(10% Bonus AD) true damage to them every second for 2 seconds. ACTIVE: Hih’San empowers the Void Gems on his back to attract other Void Gems, pulling them slightly towards him every second. Once activated, all enemy units affected by Void Gem, are pulled 300 units towards Hih’San, extending the duration of the Void Gems, though at half damage, and furthermore pulling all Void Gem affected enemy units 150 units towards him every second. Additional information
- After activating Withering Crystals, the true damage applied with extended duration deals 5(2.5% AP)(5% Bonus AD) true damage every second.
- Any dashes cast by the enemies affected with Void Gems will negate the effect.
- Enemy units can only be pulled through walls on initial cast, though can traverse over champion-made terrain, like Anivia’s Crystallize, at any point of trigger.
- The Void Gems passive will still be in effect when mimicking other champions.
- This ability has a cast time of 0.275 seconds before actually pulling any enemy units.
- If Braum is using Unbreakable the moment of cast, all enemy units in a cone behind Braum will not be pulled in, though will still get the extended but reduced effect on them if Braum already blocked damage before.
- The passive applies spell effect as an Damage over Time ability, leaving Spell Vamp at full effectiveness and Rylai’s Crystal Scepter’s slow to 20% for 1 second.
- The active does not apply spell effects.
[E] Void Link Range: 1000(cast range), 1500(leash range), 475(hitbox diameter) Cooldown: 25/22/19/16/13 (after portal remove) Mana Cost: 90 7/6/5/4/3 (cooldown between second and up casts) FIRST CAST: Hih’San blasts an area, dealing 80/120/160/200/240(30% AP)(40% Total AD) magic damage and scaring all enemy champions into fleeing from the area for 1.5 seconds. A portal stays behind, dealing 2/3/4/5/6% of the enemy units’ current health as magic damage and 1/1.5/2/2.5/3% of their missing health as physical damage to whoever steps on the portal. SECOND AND UP CAST: As long as Hih’San remains in leash range, he can recast the ability to swap positions with the portal. Additional information
- If Hih’San is knocked out of leash range while he is still casting the swap, he teleports to the portal, but, because he is now out of leash range, the portal will disappear.
- There is a 0.3 second cooldown after the initial cast, to prevent accidental teleports when spamming the ability.
- There is a delay between casting and actually dealing damage of 0.2 seconds.
- This ability has a 0.5 second cast time on the first cast, and 0.1 second cast time before swapping positions with the portal.
- In total, to create a portal and swap positions with it, Hih’San has to wait 1.1 seconds(0.3 cast time + 0.2 arrival + 0.5 accidental teleport prevetion + 0.1 teleport casting time = 1.1)
- This ability isn’t considered a projectile and thus is not blocked by Yasuo’s Wind Wall or Braum’s Unbreakable, though Braum doesn’t receive any damage from the first ray, if he is facing Hih’San and has not blocked any projectile since he casted Unbreakable.
- The initial cast applies spell effects as an AoE ability, reducing Spell Vamp to one-third effectiveness and Rylai’s Crystal Scepter’s slow to 40% for 1 second, and the portal damage as Damage over Time and AoE, reducing Spell Vamp to one-third effectiveness and Rylai’s Crystal Scepter’s slow to 20% for 1 second.
[R] Nether Morph Range: 1150(cast range) Cooldown: 40/30/20(after recasting or respawning) Mana Cost: 100/125/150 ACTIVE: Hih’San fires a Void Gem at a target champion, bouncing it back once it hits, taking over the form of the target, copying all their basic abilities and deactivating Hih’San’s passive. Hih’San can recast this ability to revert to his own form, otherwise returning once he dies. After Hih’San retrieves the Void Gem, he starts a casting time of 0.75 seconds, where he turns into a pitch black ball and then breaking out of it, wearing his new form. This form differs from the original champion by being dark blue. Hih’San then stays his new form until he recasts this ability and starting another cast, this time of 0.25 seconds, where he turns once again into the pitch black ball and reverting to his old self. When he dies, he instantly turns back to his old body to represent his corpse. Additional information
- Hih’San can target both enemy and ally champions.
- When Hih’San morphs, he replaces his basic abilities with the basic abilities of the targeted champion, their basic attack and walking design, and their appearance.
- While Hih’San is mimicking the targeted champion, he has no passive.
- Hih’San does not gain the base stats or mastery, rune or item stats when he mimics a target, though he does gain the base numbers and scalings on the basic abilities.
- Hih’San is still affected by his own base stats and mastery, rune and item stats while mimicking.
- Any buff or debuff the targeted champion had at the moment of cast and retrieval, are not copied onto Hih’San.
- If Hih’San copies a champion that is wearing a skin, he does not copy the skin, nor does he copy any hidden advantages the skin, or even the classic skin, has, like Surfer Singed bonus move speed in Nami’s Tidal Wave or Vayne’s damage reduction from Leona’s Sunlight.
- Abilities will still be maxed in order of how Hih’San’s abilities are maxed.
- Both instances of the ability are blocked by Yasuo’s Wind Wall and Braum’s Unbreakable, and Hih’San will not morph into Braum if Braum blocks it.
- This ability does not apply spell effects, though the abilities he receives do apply spell effects, in the same way they would on the actual champion
Motivation for Hih’San. It all started when the temporary gamemode “Black Market Brawlers” was released, featuring additional items, including Trickster’s Glass. This item allowed you to take the appearance of an allied champion for 30 seconds, attacking, casting a spell or dropping below 0 health. The first thing I thought when I saw this item was; there should be a champion who has this as an ability. So, I have my foundation for the champion, all I need now is the rest of his abilities. From a former champion idea I took the passive, because it was a very unique passive and versatile passive. The first ability was also from the same champion idea, only modified to fit the theme of the Void, instead of a more Atlantic theme, which the former champion was designed for. In all honesty I have to admit that I find the potential damage on Hih’San’s Q a bit over the top, but in comparison with his other damaging abilities, where he only has one of and a passive, it might be excused. His W and E are both idea’s that I made up exclusive for this champion. W’s passive is mainly centered around the idea that all Voidborn, aside from Kha’Zix, deal a form of true damage. The true damage on Hih’San isn’t that strong, but can still apply a lot of sustained damage. The active is very interesting, though not unique. After designing the passive, it came to mind that Black Market Brawlers also featured it on an item, the Puppeteer. Probably due to the idea of Hih’San’s ultimate, I unconsciously made the decision to add another BMB item active. I mainly made his E for defense, because Hih’San might want to morph into a low movement champion, like Kog’Maw or Annie, and has to quickly make an exit after getting caught out, so he can revert to his old form and E away. Because of the fact that Hih’San can fulfill practically any role, thanks to his ultimate, I made all his other abilities scale with both Ability Power and Attack Damage, adding in AoE Crowd Control if he is going tank, for the times he isn’t not mimicking another champion. That’s also why his E scares his target into fleeing(also, side note: I keep calling it “scaring enemies into fleeing”, because “fearing” is a completely different kind of Crowd Control). The percent damage component of this ability is built in a way that it will always deal damage, albeit either from the current or missing health damage. Because the ability features both types, I nerfed them in comparison to other champions like Malzahar’s Null Zone. Also, Hih’San’s E is based around the idea I always thought Zed should have for his Living Shadow, if he ever got a rework. Then, Hih’San’s ultimate, Nether Morph. Oh, how much hate I’m expecting for this one. This ultimate makes Hih’San capable of fulfilling every role, as I stated earlier on, but can also turn the game into a semi-Blind Pick or semi-One for All. I’ve recently been informed of how much the community hates mirror matches, and thus Hih’San would not be a much loved champion. Though it can’t be completely considered a mirror match, due to the fact that Hih’San misses out on two potential abilities that could be game changing. But think of the possibilities if Hih’San doesn’t have the passive of for example Yasuo, where he has the full critical damage. I can see problems forming around passive oriented champions like Tahm Kench or Gnar, but I’m sure there are ways to bypass this. While writing this, I also added in that Hih’San keeps his Void Gems passive, so compensate for the removal of his normal passive. This gives a lot of opportunities for some interesting combo’s, like a Nidalee dealing true damage with her Bushwack, or a Vayne with Crest of Cinders, Void Gems and her Silver Bolts.
Lore Hih’San is a Void creature, who had once arrived at a beach in the now called Yordle Land. Men believed this creature to be a sign sent from the gods, warning them for an unknown danger. Because that was what Hih’San was, an unknown danger. Hih’San had hunted creatures ever since he set foot on Valoran, to rip his foes in pieces and then harvesting their bones to keep as souvenirs to the places he had been. Not only did this monster like to kill, it was highly intelligent. He learned how to bypass security, only by observing it. He learned how to seek for weak spots, he learned he could outsource his foes before eventually killing them off. Hih’San even fought and defeated a queen frost serpent, together with her whole nest. Hih’San never knew where he came from, according to the few survivors, who Hih’San had spared, because each one of them helped him, with the knowledge Hih’San would kill them afterwards. All Hih’San could remember when the survivors asked was that he emerged from a portal on an outlandish island that is far away from Valoran. To date, not even the greatest explorers haven’t found the island yet. Hih’San always referred to the island as “the Portal”. It was believed by many people that were alive when Hih’San initially arrived, the crystals on his back were what was under the ground, keeping the people on the ground and letting apples fall when they released from trees. After many decennia, Hih’San returned to Valoran, once again butchering the creatures he had not gotten a bone from. Until he came by a man who was consumed by the Void, and told Hih’San where he came from. Hih’San was skeptical about what the man told him, but after the man had proven the portal Hih’San came through was connected to the Void, and Hih’San visited the realm to find out there were more of his kind, he was suffused with happiness. Not long after, Hih’San met a creature, who claimed to be the most intelligent Voidborn, and that creature told him about the League of Legends, a place where any Voidborn creature could participate in battles with other creatures. Of course Hih’San was immediately convinced he would join this League of Legends, so he could discover more creatures and get more souvenirs.
“As long as Hih’San Lives, trust no one, or else he could be closer than you think. And then it’s already too late.” –Kassadin, the Voidwalker.
Well, there it is. One evening of writing about a champion. Though it would seem like I didn’t put a lot of effort in it, I did. I left a lot of the statistics out, mainly because I’m not really sure what stats I should give this champion. Even the attack speed is heavily improvised. I hope this document even reaches Riot’s office, and in best case scenario it will be read and considered. Thank you for reading.
I actually also wanted to add a picture of how I see Hih'San, but sadly I haven't been able to add it
