Avrio, the Time Walker
Avrio, the Time Walker
Avrio is a fighter. It has the possibility to be built utility oriented or glass cannon, or a mix of them, depending on what your team needs. He is a time walker that comes from the future to stop the murder of his master Zilean. His kit features some damage tools as well as a light CC and a displacement. He uses a sword he found in his time journeys: a lightsaber. He's from the future. In future we will have lightsabers. His name comes from αύριο which means tomorrow in Greek.
Lore:
The future.
Certainly, future will not be as we imagine it now. After all, who can foresee the future? Altough we can't be sure on what will happen in the future, we have the capability of changing what will happen in the future, as the future is the consequence of out present actions. We are authors of our future and as such we are compelled to ponder every decision we make, since unlike future, past is set in stone.
Or is it?
Our inability to perceive time as a dimension where you can go forward or backward like space leaves us in panic every instance we are scared to make a decision. "The study of time requires a lot of... time" said Zilean when I asked him to teach me about his abilities. Even tough he has always been nice to me, I never understood why he decided to accept only me as his student and nobody else. It seemed like he already knew that I was going to ask him.
After all he knew more about future than I did.
Unfortunately, my teachings were interrupted halfway their completition. That horrible monster, Vel'Koz murdered Zilean and absorbed his power. Runeterrra entered in a dark era: with his new power Vel'Koz was preparing the invasion from the void and nobody knew how to stop him or which monsters he could summon. In that period I visited the archives of the institute of war, seeking information about the past of my legendary master. In that instance I learned about the chrono-displasia he suffered, but more importantly I found out who cured his disease: me.
In that moment everything was clear to me:
Zilean knew that I would have become his student because I told him so, travelling in the past. I refined the art of time-walking and taught him how to cure chrono-displasia. Zilean then taught to the young me what he learnt from the old me. He did it in order to give me the possibility to avoid what was going to happen. And this is why I'm here today: I'm going to reunite with my master and protect him.
The future relies in my hands. - Avrio, the Time Walker
Abilities: Passive - Burning Edge: Avrio's sword burns every material it comes in contact with. Every basic attack shreds 5/6/7.5/10% of his enemy armor. It caps at 30%. (Levels 1/6/11/16)
Q - Double edge - CD: 14 - Cost: 50 mana Avrio extract the other edge of the lightsaber (like Darth Maul). His next 3 basic attacks will strike twice, dealing 65% of his attack damage and both of them will apply on-hit effects. When the third strike hits the enemy, Avrio will sweep his lightsaber around him, dealing 45/70/95/120/145 + (0.6 AD) in a small radius. This skill damage is increased by 1% for each 1% of his enemies missing HP. Time Distortion Bonus: Time distorted enemies will receive 50% additional damage and will have the time distortion debuff removed right after.
W - Omnislash - CD: 16/15/14/13/12 - Cost: 80 mana Works like Hecarim ultimate but with range and width reduced. Avrio strikes in multiple dimensions, in a line path dealing 60/100/140/180/220 + (0.7 of Bonus AD) physical damage. While striking he becomes untargettable. Enemies caught in the circle where he lands take an additional 30% damage. Time Distortion Bonus: if Avrio walks through his Time Distortion when using Omnislash, the cooldown of this skill is set to 6 seconds.
E - Time Distortion - CD: 12 - Cost: 50 mana Works like Malzahar or Anivia's gate. Avrio creates a time distortion which is 400/450/500/550/600 units wide. Projectiles that pass through the distortion will be slowed by 50% and enemies who walk through it will receive the Time Distorted debuff. Time distorted enemies have their movement speed slowed by 40% and their attack speed slowed by 10%. On top of that, their projectiles will be slowed by 40%. The debuff lasts 2/2.25/2.5/2.75/3 seconds.
R - Final Strike - CD: 90/80/70 - Cost: 100 mana Vector targeted, like Rumble's Ult or Viktor's E. Avrio blinks at target location and charges in a line. The first enemy hit will be displaced by 400 units with him along that line and takes 200/300/400 + (1.0 AD) physical damage.
Design Discussion:
As I said before Avrio can be played as an utility oriented fighter or damage oriented fighter. His passive will work well in both cases since you only deal phisical damage and amplifies damage from your teammates. The scaling is non-linear because it will require you to attack 6/5/4/3 times before getting full stacks.
His Q would work like a buff for autoattacks that requires great timing beacuse of the execution part in the end. It also applies your passive faster.
For example: with Master Yi you are going to use his E as soon as you want to increase damage. With Avrio instead you are going to wait the right time to use it, in order to optimize the damage you get from the AA buff and the execute in the end.
If you use it too early your execution will not deal enough damage, but if you use it too late your execution will be delayed and your enemy can kill you/escape in that window of time.
His W provides mobility as well as a good chunk of damage for those who are caught in the circle.
His E defines the champion itself. Thematically speaking an AoE circle would fit better than a gate, but this could make the interaction with his ult really easy to reproduce at every angle, while with a gate you must be more precise the more the angle tends to 90 degrees.
This means that if you want to just push away a frontline tank with the ult and then jump on the ranged, you can do it at every angle, but with ranged enemies you must do a choice out of three options:
-
You can just try to aim good even if the wall is not perpendicular to the ult direction.
-
You can use your W to get closer before placing the gate.
-
You can dive the ranged champion ulting him and then placing the gate in the direction they are running hoping that they will pass through it.
In general I like the fact that you can have different options to achieve the same goal which is why I think a gate should be better than a circle.
There are some combos that you can land with this kit:
-
First of all if you want to reach a ranged character and displace it. W > E > R into E > Q
-
Your team has a powerful CC but their frontline doesn't allow you to land it: R into his frontline tank > W > E > Q
-
Catching someone very far from you: E > W with cooldown reduced > R > W > Q
-
Catching someone and avoid him from running away: W > R behind him > E facing the direction he wants to escape.
This is it I guess. As always feedback is appreciated.
q but i like the interaction with his e. Makes it a very crucial skill to master.
