[Character Concept] Boris, the Frost Hunter

(FIRST EDIT: Changed Passive. Was once before +15 MS if previously walked around an area, +30 if it's a jungle. New passive idea is +20 movement speed if enemy does not have vision, this applies to Arctic Camouflage as well. Finally, I've nerfed Mercy is for the Weak Contempt generation slightly.)

Lore: At a young age, the young Boris did not seem all that fit to have been born into the Freljord, having a larger hunger than most men of the tribe, while offering much less, with only adequate bow techniques any hunter would learn in several weeks, the only distinct act he had perform was killing a bear with a close range shot in the eye. The Clan's hunters had decided one night to cut their losses and, in an extremely barbaric move, kill the young hunter at the age of 14. However, when they arrived at his cottage, he was already gone with a note on the table:

"You guys aren't all that subtle, I'm already gone."

Satisfied with leaving him to die in the storm alone, the clan quickly removed any personal belongings (including the bear skull trophy he carved) and prepared it for another family. Boris, a lacking hunter, was not likely to survive alone, having depended upon the obviously brutish hunters to get in a close range with his bow, but during one particular blizzard, he had taken shelter in a cave that would change the way he hunted.

At a glance, the cave was not so important: it looked abandoned, and hopefully was, Boris was suffering from hypothermia at the moment and was starved, he would be easy prey if he found a pack of wolves. But as he explored the interior of the cave, he noticed several scratches on the wall too small and precise for any normal bladed weapon. Curious and ignoring any of the dangers, Boris traveled further and further into the cave until he found a skeleton that had been frosted over. The skeleton did not interest Boris, what did was the techmaturgical Rifle and the several loaded magazines he found with it. As he picked up the rifle, what hit him was a feeling of familiarity he had never known, as though he was born to hold THIS rifle and use it.

Curious to how familiar he was with the weapon, he picked up several bone fragments and lined them up, perfectly in a row of strangely well-carved ice. As he took aim, something within him took hold, as his rifle relaxed, he took a deep breath, and sighed, the rifle's kickback next to nothing as the shattered remains of bone flew and hit the walls of the cave behind him. Smiling at his new weapon, he instinctually checked the magazine, which was only missing one bullet, and smiled. Overtaken by an unknown sense of pride, he took his new found weapon and returned to the village.

When he returned, he found burning huts and bloody snow, the obvious signs of a raid, but somehow, he wasn't surprised and not even sad... in fact, he almost admired the sheer efficiency of it, not one supply was left in the village save for burned foundations and meat fit only for animals. He walked into the village as a dying man reached out to him in the corner of his eye. The Hunter, whose eye sight was never good to begin with, didn't recognize Boris from a distance. The only thing he recognized was the bullet flying through his eye socket for the smallest of seconds.

When Boris fired the round, he smiled at the fact he finally got his revenge. He thought everyone was dead, but the ringleader was alive long enough to feel the sniper's one and only return. Looking around, he noticed two new flags he had never seen before: Several of an almost frosty-looking bow (which were burned to the point he had to actually assemble them together), and one of two frosty axes, the only thing in the village that was not stolen or destroyed. it quickly became apparent to Boris that a lot has changed since he was last in contact with a real village, and set out to find the Winter's Claw (though he obviously didn't know the name beforehand) But not before taking one trophy.

When he approached a village, the outsiders quickly drew arrows and maces. What was likely the hunting party's leader called out to him: "Halt! Be you Winter's Claw, or Avarosan?" Boris's response would shock everyone in the village, but smiles would come upon the hunters as the head of the burned village's head chieftain was thrown in front of them. "You missed this one." He was quickly accepted into the clan, and became a prominent scout and marksman among the hunting party, where he would learn of the war for the Freljord war, and you can all guess who's side he's on.

"The Freljord belongs to those who can fight for it."

Hidden Passive: He will taunt all (true) Frejlord based characters who are not sided with the Winter's Claw (He will also make an animation pointing his gun at them): When taunting Tyrndamere: "Don't worry, My King... your Queen will be joining you Six Feet Under." When taunting Ashe: "And with this shot, the Avarosan shall Fall." When taunting Nunu: "Why couldn't you just die in the Blizzard?" When taunting Anivia: "Anivia... You chose the wrong side." When taunting Lissandra: "I wonder if I can make a ring out of Blackfrost..." When taunting Trundle: "Ice Troll, Nice Troll... a shot rings out Dead Troll."

Resource: Boris has no Mana, instead, he builds a system called Contempt, which builds from auto attacks and abilities. The weaker the target, the more Contempt is built. (Auto attacks naturally build 2 Contempt from a full health target, at 50%, he builds 5 Contempt. If he gets a Last Hit, he builds 10 Contempt) When Contempt is at 100, your next auto attack will deal extra damage based upon how much health the target is missing, but will not reward Contempt. If a champion at 10% health, this attack is a guaranteed kill (unless the target is otherwise protected, such as a shield effect, untargettable, or otherwise cannot take health damage or damage from auto attacks.) Contempt will build from additional targets (such as an AoE ability, or Runaan's Hurricane) but only as calculated normally.

Passive (The Tundra Predator): Boris knows how to make himself scarce and to run before trouble arrives. When Boris is not in the enemy team's vision, he gains +20 movement speed. (Special Note: While Nocturne Paranoia is active, he will only be denied to bonus if any Enemy Champion can see him.)

Q (Penetration Rounds): Toggle: Boris replaces his normal rounds with Penetration rounds, which increase his range by (25/50/75/100/125) and deal damage in a straight line, but reduces damage dealt by (40%/35%/30%/25%/20%) and reduce damage dealt to Champions (seperate from previous reduction) by (50%/45%/40%/35%/30%) Contempt Generation is HALVED while this toggle is active. (Runaan's Hurricane shots will fire as normal, except they cannot generate Contempt.)

W (Arctic Camouflage): Using his knowledge of terrain, Boris can temporarily slip out of even plain sight for 3 seconds, during which he can auto attack once for an additional (+30%/+35%/+40%/+45%/+50% AD)(+30%%/+35%/+40%/+45%/+50% AP) damage. (16 second cooldown)

E (Crippling Shot): Boris aims careful at his target, charging for 1 second and firing a crippling shot, which deals (50/75/100/125/150)(+25% AD)(+25% AP) damage, slow the target by (30%/35%/40%/45%/50%) for 5 seconds and apply Grievous Wounds for the duration (12 second cooldown) (700 unit range)

R (Mercy is for the Weak): Boris will 'laze' the target several times over 2 seconds, creating (2/3/5) lines similar to Caitlyn's Ace in the Hole on the target. Like Caitlyn's Ace in the Hole, enemy champions can attempt to intercept the damage, and be rewarded with only 50% damage taken, but if attacks are not intercepted, each shot deals (100/150/200)(+150% AD)(+100% AP) damage. This ability generates 15 Contempt if intercepted, 30 Contempt if not intercepted, and immediately fills Contempt if target is killed, in addition to the skill going on half normal cooldown. This skill obeys normal line of sight rules. If sight of target is lost, skill goes on half normal cooldown. (120/90/60 Cooldown)(2000/2500/3000 unit range)

Stats: HP: 400 (+80) HP Regen: 5 (+0.5) Armor: 12 (+3) Magic Resist: 30 (+0) Attack Speed: 0.625 (+3%) Attack Damage: 50 (+3) Attack Range: 600 Movement Speed: 340

General Look: (EDIT) I spoke to the 'artist' of the piece I found, who had apparently taken it from another source, so I'm not too keen on using it.

Overview: Boris is a Marksman built around a hit and run ideal, but can also be played aggressively. He is mostly built around AD, although I added AP scaling to allow for some who prefer a bit more freedom with their champions. He is primarily Attack Damage and Attack Speed, with extreme viability for Life Steal thanks to his Penetration Rounds toggle. Positioning must be careful when playing Boris, although high movement speed can allow for slight errors in calculation. Like Shaco, he makes an excellent champion to place behind the enemy to try to pincer them, although low survivability may make this complicated, but not impossible. Champions who have higher range or extremely aggressive ranged pokes (Ahri Caitlyn Tristana) can usually end up on top in most trades, but champions with low movement speed or who are especially vulnerable to easy trades (Mainly Mages and other Marksman with less range) can easily be outpoked, especially with the Penetration Rounds toggle.

Early Game: I'd like to imagine Boris has some Jungle viability, but could be played in Mid lane or Bot lane. As a Jungler, Boris's job will mainly to be farming and ambushing enemy champions (especially other junglers) Careful positioning will allow for a few early hits with Penetration Round to hit 2 or even 3 creeps. Generally this is the point when Boris is most vulnerable to early shut downs, so play cautious, only go in for the kill if you are positive you can score it, or if the team Jungler is nearby (in the scenario YOU are the team Jungler, try to make sure the lane champions have some health to absorb more damage)

Mid Game: This is Boris's best time in the game. A maxed out Penetration Round will help you out-trade almost any champion from a relatively safe distance, Crippling Shot will make sure they can't get close or run, and Mercy is for the Weak makes an excellent Contempt Builder (remember: If they are under 10% with a full contempt bar, they are essentially dead.) Make use of your passive and try to get as many ganks as possible and keep the enemy team on lock down to ensure easier farming for team mates.

End Game: If you played Mid Game well, then End Game should be a Blast, regardless of whether you actually scored the kills or just assisted a few times. Maxed out Penetration and Crippling Strike will ensure almost every single 1v1 is extremely in your favor. If they get in close, Arctic Camo will usually make for a clean get away. Team Fights will be a bit more complicated... Try to keep a strong position and hit as many champions as possible with Penetration rounds. If a target is low (and preferably Isolated) then Mercy is for the Weak should almost ensure they die, and the (hopefully) Maxed out Contempt may even allow you to quickly get a second kill almost immediately after. Like mentioned before, coming up from behind with Boris is risky, but can be extremely rewarding, especially if any of your team mates has an AOE stun/slow or is able to lock down the majority of their team.

Dialogue: Champion Select: "I like Assassinating Assassins: They never see it coming!" Walk 1: "Gotta go." Walk 2: "Yea yea, I'm going." Walk 3: "Okay okay, I'm going!" Walk 4: "Careful of the Brush." (This can occur anywhere, whether Brush is nearby or not.) Attack 1: "Never know what hit 'em!" Attack 2: "They'll never see it coming!" Attack 3: "It's a Trap-For them!" Normal Joke: "They say the best Defense is a good Offense... If that's true, I'm the best Bodyguard in Valoran!" Alternative Joke: Boris sheathes his gun on his back suddenly gets on one knee and produces a ring for a few seconds "Didn't expect that, did you?" Boris puts the ring back and takes out his rifle Normal Taunt: "Peek-a-boo, I see you!"

Special 1: Interrupting an Enemy Champion recall "Nope!" Special 2: Interrupting an Enemy Champion recall "Recall? You ain't got time for that!"

This is is very funny layout for a character, the Taunts and what not. The overall abilities seem pretty well balanced except for his passive. I don't understand if you mean "Every last place he was" or "The very Last place he was", because this could mean two things, 1. If he travels the whole map, he becomes incredibly fast if he uses Boots of Swiftness - Alacrity. Making him very OP when it comes to chasing enemy's down. 2. The very last place he was, he becomes fast, after he leaves that area a new one will appear. This would work IF there is a cooldown, otherwise it would be the same thing as '1.'. Other than that this would be a cool character. You should check out my character as well, because it seems like alot of people like it, mainly because I have 4+ points on it XD, but yours is well thought out, just needs a little tweaking.

I can tell you put a lot of work into this champ, and you did good work. This champ seems really fun to play!I've only got a couple of issues with him.

His passive is a bit confusing at first glance. Is there going to be some kind of a notification to let players of Boris know where he's been? Maybe the minimap just changes colors slightly or something.

How much contempt does he need to fill up his bar? I originally felt like an instant kill at 10% health was too strong, but if it's particularly hard to build it up and it won't be procced very often it won't be a problem.

Otherwise, this champ looks pretty good to me!
