Fan fictions.

Hello peeps. I've made a similar post on the EU boards but with no response, so I'll try here.

So, for quite some time I've had the idea of a fan fiction brewing in my head, and recently, I decided to actually begin to write it. So, I'm 5 chapters in and I feel it's getting somewhere. So I do have 2 questions - is anyone interested in fan fictions really, and can anyone tell me if they should be posted on the boards themselves or should they be posted on some different site. (This question refers mainly to the layout of the boards - will that inhibit the reading experience perhaps?)

Hope to hear from you guys.

If its 18+, post it somewhere else. You'll get in trouble if it is mature content and you post it here will lead to a forum ban I think. If not, feel free to post it here, or if you have a youtube, make a story time reading of it.

Well then, here goes!

A Rift in Runeterra

Chapter 1

The time spent on Summoner's Rift had truly left its mark. The magic of the summoners would protect against certain aspects of the fights, like pain and death. The pain would be no more than a prickling feeling where you would have hurt, fatigue being the substitute – you would tire, and eventually not be able to keep on fighting. But this was different. This was real pain. When had he last felt pain like this? Never, he decided. His eyes were still closed. He was certain opening them would awaken the pain, but he could not keep them closed, his eyes not obeying his will. Instantly the pain shot through his body, icy cold daggers stabbing his entire body. His limbs felt alien and cold, as if he wasn't in control of his own body. His eyes teared up and he felt blind trying to blink away the tears. Where was he? There was no snow here. That was the last thing he remembered, snow... ”Ahhh, he is awake.” He did not recognize the voice, but how should he have? No one in this world had such a voice. ”Don't worry child. You will soon be better, just listen to my voice.” The voice spoke true – just listening to the melodic tunes was healing him. The words were like droplets of warmth, spreading throughout his body, banishing the icy daggers of pain. Whose voice was this? It sounded like a woman, yet no human had such a voice. He was not prepared for the bearded face of a man looking at him when he could finally see again. The shock must've been clear, for the man laughed and continued in the otherwordly voice. ”Do you not recognize me child? What happened to you?” His thoughts were travelling aimlessly in his head and he had a hard time pinning them down. He tried to speak, but all that came from his lips were a grunt, hardly hearable. Yet, in the distance, a memory came to him. ”Udyr?” he croaked, finally able to speak. He knew this man. The man smiled and answered in another voice, a deep voice befitting his appearance. ”Jax, don't strain yourself. Yfrit's healing can only do so much. You're in bad shape, I don't know how you survived... Whatever it was that did this to you.” Yes, Jax. That's my name. ”I... I don't remember much of anything.” He was still lying down on something soft, though he hadn't moved. His limbs were much too heavy to obey him though the pain had receded slightly. ”He was lucky you found him Lee Sin, had he been left in the snow much longer he would surely have died.” Another voice, much deeper, said the words. Another voice he did not recognize though it sounded familiar. ”Hah, we were lucky we didn't get squashed under him. He fell from the sky, not far from where we were training.” the man named Lee Sin replied. ”Good thing there was snow to cushion his fall.” Yes, falling, he was falling... A blue light, lightning... Memories were flooding his brains, as if his brain had just awakened. He was remembering again. ”A... A summoner portal. I escaped, just barely.” he managed to say. ”That was risky, you could've ended anywhere. The portals aren't stable when a summoner isn't overlooking it to guide someone using it. I guess what you were running from made the risk worth to take.” Lee Sin answered. He sounded slightly bitter, and Jax suddenly remembered why. Memory was returning in full force. He tried to move and was surprised to find his limbs felt less heavy. Until now, he had not thought of it, but where was he? Looking up he saw he was in a cave, but clearly a cave someone inhabited. The entrance was a curtain door that only moved a tiny bit, letting him see the snow outside for a fraction of a second. So much snow. He was in the Freljord. ”I remember no-” A heavy crash interrupted them. Jax gazed towards the sound and saw a young familiar woman and an a behemoth of a man standing next to her. The reason for the crash was obvious – the huge shield the man was holding. ”I hope Volibear won't mind us resting here a bit before we travel on. He-” the young woman stopped as she noticed the room was not empty. Ashe, her name is Ashe a voice in his head whispered. She looked taken aback for a second, but she seemed to recognize the people in the room and relief showed on her face. ”Sorry for the intrusion, we were hoping we could rest for a little while her. We've come from... We've come a long way.” ”Hah, the Lady Ashe always has my hospitality, you know that. Unfortunately, the bed is currently occupied, but help yourselves to whatever else you might need.” the deep voice growled. Volibear, a shaman of the Ursine. He was also an exile he remembered, like Lee Sin... And Udyr and himself. We used to live and train together, not far away... ”My thanks Volibear.” The young woman looked around the room, and her eyes fell on Udyr, who was looking at her intently. ”Ahh... I sense her in you child.” Yfrit was talking through him. Ashe looked at Udyr, clearly confused by the voice, but seemed to recognize something. ”Anivia? No, not quite, but it sounds like you...” ”Oho, I guess someone like you would definitely hear the resemblance. No, not Anivia... Her sister, in lack of better words. Hmm, and this here... Yes, this is surely a true child of the Freljord.” The big man looked at Udyr and laughed. If he found this odd, he never showed any sign. ”Where are you headed, and what is Braum doing with you?” Volibear interjected. ”He's helping me. I'm going back. To Summoner's Rift” The words stirred his memory. ”NO! Stop, wait... You can't...” Jax felt dizzy suddenly, but he kept going. ”The Summoners... I was running from the Summoners...” ”From the Summoners? Are you sure?” Lee Sin sounded worried. ”Maybe... I can't remember it all...” Why had he escaped the Summoners? Were they responsible for his current state? ”I'm not sure what happened, but Jax, why would you run from the Summoners? You've been with the League since forever.” Ashe sounded doubtful of his explanation. Lee Sin looked at her oddly, as if to say something, but Udyr grabbed his shoulder, and Lee Sin remained quiet. Frowning, Jax suddenly remembered Lee Sins past with the Summoners. Volibear broke the silence. ”We should go with the Lady Ashe, might be you'll remember what happened then. If nothing else someone might know what befell you.” ”Yes, she will need more than just Braum if she intends to join the tournament. We might be of help.” Udyr answered in his own voice. ”Your assistance would be most welcome, we would make a formidable team.” Ashe's word did not soothe Jax. He was returning to the League of Legends – he was returning home. So why did he feel so horrible about it?

I have 5 chapters so far, so lemme know what you think and if anyone is interested in more.

Chapter 2

Not for the first time, Tristana asked herself what she had gotten herself in to. Sure, her superiors had given her explicit orders, but it wasn't as if she had defied them. She had just taken them as guidelines, and truly, it wasn't like the 3 Hextech Tanks that blew up were that expensive. She had needed a distraction! However, her explanation hadn't appeased anyone, and the higher-ups decided to send her to the League of Legends as part of the team from Bandle City, for the tournament being held to celebrate... Something, she hadn't been listening really. Since the Gate wasn't far from Bandle City, they had made good time, which meant the Gate was still closed. The gate radiated power, even when it wasn't active. It looked ancient, an arched door to nowhere. Runes and symbols, unknown to Tristana, decorated the Gate, and just like every time she looked at the Gate, she was mesmerized. Noone else seemed impressed however. Looking around, she saw her new teammates and shuddered to think what was going to happen once the fighting started. Poppy sat for herself, stone-faced and serious. Ziggs and Rumble were arguing animatedly about ways to integrate the hexplosives with the absurd robot Rumble used. And to top it off, Lulu was running around, chasing things only she and her pixie friend could see. They were doomed. She looked towards Rumble and Ziggs with a slight smile on her face. At least I won't be low on explosive distractions.

Chapter 3

The burning sensation hadn't faded entirely yet, but it didn't feel uncomfortable anymore either. At first, using the new hand had felt odd, but he quickly grew to like it. It is more powerful than my old hand. I should thank whoever ever tried to kill me... There would be time to thank his would-be murderer when he was crushing his windpipe. This was my trial by fire, and I emerged stronger. His old trusted blade had held a surprise too. He had taken the blade in his gun hand first, but it felt strange, so he changed to his new hand, and to his surprise, the burning sensation grew stronger. After a few seconds, he could feel the heat leaving him, as if absorbed by the blade – and the blade suddenly lit up. My rage is feeding the blade, and it will burn my way to vengeance. But who had tried to kill him? The list would be endless, but he knew how to find out. Someone who would risk suffer his wrath would surely finish the job, should they learn that he still lived. So he would announce that he still lived on the biggest stage there was. The refuge he had found barely offered any leisures and smelled of rot and vomit, but there was a hearth with a small fire, a table and a chair. A pot was boiling over the small fire, but he was staring at the flames, thinking hard. I'll need a team. He knew noone he trusted, so how to find a team?_ I don't look like myself anymore, everyone thinks I'm dead. I'm just a drunken fighter from Bilgewater who lost his arm in a fight, like hundreds of other brawlers from Bilgewater. Yes, that's how it must be done. Noone would look at this ragged man and see the Pirate King. _ It would be prudent to gather some information first. What good would it be to announce that he still lived if only to be killed moments later? Hah, as if they could kill me. He had simply been caught unawares – none of his enemies had the necessary power to try to kill him the way they did. An unknown enemy is truly the most dangerous. Not this time though. The pot had been boiling too slowly for his liking, but it seemed ready. Emptying the pot, he finally had it. He had always loved scrimshaw, but this would be different. No carvings - this bone had a different purpose. I hope they are ready for their trial by fire.

Chapter 4

They stayed the night in Volibears cave to let Jax recuperate. His memory had returned entirely save for the days leading up to his escape from the summoners. He could only remember fragments, so the return to the League of Legends had another reason than just helping Ashe. The six of them sleeping in the small confines made him remember his days in the Temple, with Lee Sin and Udyr. Another life, a time before we joined it... The evening brought other surprises as well. Braum had promised to help Ashe, but for no other reason than boredom it seemed. ”What is this League of Legends?” he asked with a hearty laugh. He laughed a lot. ”That's... Quite a long story.” Lee Sin answered. ”But I guess we're not in any hurry anyway, so... I could give you the short version. As you probably know, Runeterra has been in near perpetual war as far back as we know. The books are filled with stories of the wars between the kingdoms of Runeterra, and the numbers of lives lost in the wars... Well, you can guess. But there was more damage done than just the lives of the people. Runeterra itself was being hurt, and hurt badly. As our knowledge of magic and warfare grew, so did our weapons and the destruction. And one man seemed to notice it more than others.” ”Ryze the Mage...” Ashe interjected. ”He's the Rogue Mage now, but yes. He had travelled Runeterra, and there were signs of magic anomalies throughout the land. His studies showed the abundant use of magic in the wars had awakened dormant magic in the land itself. It was lashing out in response, and Runeterra was destroying itself, and the people living on it, slowly. He presented his studies to the most powerful magicians of Runeterra, and they decided to do something about it. They founded the Institute of War, and started searching for places that hadn't suffered from the magic and study why. They found that certain places in Runeterra had such strong inherent magic that our magic had little to no effect. These places were safe places to fight, and an idea was born...” ”Fighting battles that don't cost lives.” Ashe said solemnly. ”Indeed.” Lee Sin nodded. ”The inherent magics of these magic havens could be harnessed for another use, and overnight, wars on the fields were replaced with battles on the safe places, like Summoner's Rift. The best warriors and champions of the kingdoms would fight their... 'wars' without bloodshed. It saved lives and having contained the magic, it saved Runeterra. The League of Legends was born, and wars changed. The political reasons stayed the same, but the fighting became... Shows. Shows to parade the might of the heroes, the pride of the kingdoms. Wars as entertainment...” Lee Sin finished with a disgusted tone. Braum noticed. ”It sounds like the League of Legends does much good, saving lives and the lands. Why the anger in your voice friend?” Braum asked unsmilingly. A tense silence filled the room, and Jax decided to change the subject. ”So, Ashe, why would you return to the League of Legends?” ”The greatness of the Lady Ashe's heart!” Volibear answered fiercely. Ashe looked as if she was about to blush. ”Please, Volibear, don't...” ”I speak only the truth my lady. The truth that exiled me, the truth worth fighting for. Whilst the rest of the Freljord is fighting eachother, you alone stand as the voice of reason – unite before we are all killed. The spirits told me so as well, but my Ursine brethren are blinded by pride. You are truly the leader the Freljord needs if we want to survive...” The rest was left unsaid. ”Volibear... I never meant for you to... No, I guess it was your own choice.” She suddenly seemed determined. ”Yes. We need to cease the fighting and unite, lest we all perish. And I'm gonna keep telling everyone this until someone will listen. Well, someone else than Volibear.” ”Hence the League of Legends. Mmmm. Winning might give you enough influence to sway the right people. Hmmm. It seems Anivia chose her champion well.” The slow and ponderous voice came from Udyr, but it was neither Udyr himself nor Yfrit speaking. This was Doohma, another of the spirits tied Udyr. Where Yfrits voice was melodic and enchanting, Doohmas voice sounded wise and ancient. ”R'kesh and Ursa will be happy, they've been restless, urging us to action.” ”As it stands, the Institute of War is holding a tournament, to celebrate the anniversary of the League of Legends and the many years without bloodshed. All the leaders of Runeterra are to attend, and this is the perfect platform to reach them. We must tell them to cease these... Proxy wars and political games. True war is coming to Runeterra, and our enemies are coming from everywhere, not just from the Freljord...” Ashe looked to Braum who had a strangely sad look on his face. ”What enemies?” Jax asked. ”Runeterra itself.” Ursa had taken over. Of all the spirits bonded with Udyr, Ursa was almost indistinguishable from Udyr himself. Strong and fierce, Ursa even sounded like Udyr, though his voice did have the air of otherworldly, like the other spirits. ”The spirits have felt them coming. The magic of Runeterra has manifested itself, and is coming for the beings that would hurt Runeterra.” ”What do you mean, Ursa?” Lee Sin asked. ”You will learn when the time is right. But what's more important is that we would be ready for what is to come.” Ursa said in a grim voice. ”But tell me child, what happened?” ”What do you mean what happened?” Ashe asked uncertainly. ”You know what I mean. We can tell. If you want our help, we need to know.” Ursa said brusquely. Ashe hesitated for a moment. A sad expression flashed over her face, only to be replaced with an expression of anger. ”Anivia... Anivia was killed. The protector of the Freljord is dead.”

Chapter 5

Had this message come from any other scout Jarvan would've dismissed it, but the handwriting was clearly Quinn's, and Quinn was never wrong. Suddenly his study felt cold despite the fireplace being close enough to heat him up. ”You seem troubled. What's wrong my lord?” Lux asked. ”Troubling news from Quinn.” Jarvan answered, looking up from the scroll. ”And the tournament is around the corner. That's no coincidence.” He looked down again. The ornate table in his study was scattered with dozens of scrolls, all of them reporting nothing new... Except the one in his hand. The one scroll he wished had nothing new to report. ”Quinn... That means Noxus.” Lux paused, thinking. ”We need to prepare to leave. Does this change anything my lord?” She never asked what written in the scroll. Not that it made any difference - Lux was so brilliant, she probably already knew the gist of it just by knowing it was a message from Quinn. ”Yes. If half of what Quinn writes is true...” Jarvan left the rest unsaid. His gaze hardened and he continued. ”Xin Zhao stays, and Quinn will not meet us there either. We need to alert any scout on duty and the guards of the city must be told as well.” Jarvan frowned, thinking hard. ”I would rather leave you and Garen here as well, but I can't. They will expect our best. At least some of them. I cannot lose face either and lose in the tournament without a proper fight. Still, the safety of Demacia comes first.” ”It always does my lord, and the guards never fail. With Xin Zhao here and Quinn scouting we are well defended. We must presume Noxus also will send some of their best to the tournament, they would have noone to lead an assault. Garen and I should be with you, in case something happens at the rift.” ”Hmm... Yes.” Jarvan answered absentmindedly. ”Your boyfriend, is he as good as you boast he is?” Lux seemed taken aback for a second, but regained her composure quickly, albeit she was blushing slightly. ”We're not... Yes, he is probably better than my boasts, my lord.” ”Good. It's about time he helped us out I think. A young man like him shouldn't spend that much time in a library anyway. Tell your brother I want to see him. And send for her.” Lux nodded and left the room. Garen entered mere seconds after. ”Yes my lord?” ”Here. Quinn's latest report.” Jarvan said as he handed Garen the scroll. ”Hmpf. It matters not, we will proceed as planned I hope?” Garen asked casually after having read the scroll. ”Hah, I guess that is the reaction I should've expected from you old friend.” Jarvan almost laughed. He felt better for just a second. ”No, not entirely. We will be leaving Xin Zhao in command and Quinn will keep eyes on Noxus. Your sister's boyfriend will join us and..” ”Her boyfriend?” Garen interrupted. ”What boyfriend?” he demanded. ”The explorer from Piltover... What was his name... Ezreal I think.” ”Oh.” Garen simply said. He had an odd look on his face. ”Well, as long as he can take care of himself in a fight.” ”Lux thinks very highly of him. She seems to trust his prowess on the battlefield.” ”Then I trust him as well my lord.” Garen said immediately. Jarvan nodded. ”We will leave tomorrow, at noon. The gate should be active by then and also give time for her to return. Go if you have any preparations you have to make.” ”My lord.” Garen said before bowing slightly and leaving the room, leaving Jarvan feeling slightly uncomfortable. He had never quite gotten used to Garen calling him 'My Lord' or 'My Prince'. They were childhood friends, and Lux too. Simpler times, when the fate of Demacia was not in their hands. He did, however, feel blessed to have them by his side – he could ask for no more loyal, competent and extraordinary friends to aid him. Jarvan reread the scroll again. Is this it? Will this be what plunges Runeterra in war again? The scroll's message was truly terrifying. I won't let them destroy the fragile peace Runeterra has. Noxus, you have gone too far!
