General Concept
Ritz is a melee AD/AP hybrid whose specialty is trickery, speed, and quickly generating gold for herself. Thanks to increased income compared to other Champions, Ritz can finish an expensive kit more quickly than others. This comes at a price of early-game stability, though, and she's definitely not built to take a hit well. Ritz can do both sustained damage and burst damage fairly well, and also gets more damage depending on how well she farmed.
In team-fights, Ritz can do massive damage to single targets with her basic attacks, especially if she managed to farm her Pickpocket passive well. This will prompt enemy tanks to try and stop her from getting at their carries, but Ritz is maneuverable and can avoid trouble fairly easily. Her dash also lets her play mindgames by creating a clone of herself when she dashes, letting her fool her enemies (though not always).
In terms of build, Ritz builds a mix of AD and AP to provide her firepower. She has excellent ratios, but poor base damage, so you can't build her tanky and expect to do much damage. Additionally, she has to get in close range to really do anything to an enemy, requiring that she take risks. If the enemy team hasn't kept Ritz under control throughout the match, she ends up being a lethal hyper-carry capable of killing most opponents with ease. The best way to counter this is to take advantage of her weak early game.

Last Update: October 11, 2014
P - Pickpocket
Whenever Ritz hits an enemy Champion, large monster, or turret with an attack or ability, she gains 5 gold. This effect has a 10/8/6 second cooldown (improves at levels 7 and 13, respectively) (not affected by CDR).
Additionally, when Ritz gains a kill/assist, she gains 15 bonus gold.
Q - Quicksilver Shiv
Ritz throws a shiv in target direction (skill-shot, 600 range), dealing 20/35/50/65/80 (+0.3/0.35/0.4/0.45/0.5 total AD) (+0.25 AP) physical damage to the first enemy it hits. If Ritz strikes a Champion with Quicksilver Shiv, she gains 15/20/25/30/35% increased movement speed for 1 second. This can be cast while moving.
Ritz stores a Shiv every 8/7.5/7/6.5/6 seconds (reduced by cooldown reduction), up to a maximum of 3 stored at once. Upon death, Ritz will respawn with 3 Shivs.
1 second static cooldown. Costs 30 mana and one Shiv Charge per shot.
W - Caltrops
Ritz spins and throws an array of spiked caltrops around her, immediately dealing 50/70/90/110/130 (+1.0 bonus AD) physical damage to nearby enemies. The caltrops (after a short delay) remain on the ground for 3 seconds where she cast the ability, dealing 30/40/50/60/70 (+0.6 AP) physical damage to enemies when they step on them and slowing them by 20/22.5/25/27.5/30% for 2 seconds. Each enemy can only be damaged once by stepping on the caltrops. This can be cast while moving.
9/8/7/6/5 second cooldown. Costs 40 mana.
E - Hoodwink
Ritz dashes forwards sending a clone of herself in the opposite direction (500 range). Enemies hit either by Ritz or the clone take 50/80/110/140/170 (+0.7 AP) magic damage. The clone lasts 2 seconds and takes double damage.
(After dashing, the clone will automatically walk forward in the direction it is facing until it expires.)
Hoodwink's current cooldown is reduced by 75% if Ritz gets a kill or assist.
16/15/14/13/12 second cooldown. Costs 70 mana.
R - The Big Heist
Passive: Ritz's basic attacks deal 10/20/30 (+0.1 AP) bonus physical damage, plus 10% of the gold she has farmed from Pickpocket. (This does not add to Ritz's attack damage.)
Active: Ritz gains 40/70/100% increased attack speed for 12 seconds. During this time, Ritz's basic abilities are all enhanced:
- Quicksilver Shiv: Throws three knives in a cone. Each knife can only damage one enemy, and each enemy can only be damaged by one knife.
- Caltrops: Increases the range and size of the Caltrops AOE, and doubles the potency of the slow.
- Hoodwink: Sends clones to Ritz's left and right when dashing in addition to the original clone. Additionally, she becomes untargetable while dashing (pops projectiles).
120/100/80 second cooldown. Costs 100 mana.
Tips and Tricks
Playing as Ritz
- Try dashing away from your enemy with Hoodwink to fake an engage. Your opponent might overreact.
- Keep poking away at enemy Champions to utilize Pickpocket as much as possible. The late-game gains can be very rewarding if you farmed it well.
- Use Caltrops to slow your pursuers if you are chased.
Playing against Ritz
- Harass or counterjungle Ritz as much as possible to prevent her from farming. She has a weak early-game that can be exploited easily.
- Wait for a moment after Ritz uses Hoodwink to figure out which one is the real Ritz.
- Ritz can be hard to chase. It may be best not to pursue her if you can't lock her up.
Champion Counters
- Udyr's invade power can make your jungling quite hazardous, especially if he goes with a Madstone build. You can't stop him from counterjungling you early on, as his good base damage will demolish you. Plant plenty of wards and call for ambushes if you see him enter. Later on, his crowd controls and tankiness will be a serious pain for you.
- There's little you can do against an invading jungle Lee Sin. He will straight-up clobber you early on, and asking for help generally results in him ward-hopping to safety if your teammates try to ambush him. During team-fights, he can use Dragon Rage to kick you out of fights if you activate The Big Heist.
- If Shyvana gets to a Feral Flare and BoRK before you get well-farmed, you're dead if you fight her. She can invade very effectively, and her high resistances mean she can tank you for a good while even once you are farmed up. Late-game you can outpower her, but she is likely to make late-game hard to reach. Plant wards and keep a constant eye on her position.
Background (rough; UPDATED)
You've earned it if you've stolen it. - Ritz
Ritz was originally a small-time pickpocket who stole money and food to survive, but she was clearly talented. One day, she ended up picking the pocket of a master thief named Legault, who happened to be the Guildmaster of the notorious Shadow Guild and was called the King of Thieves by many. Legault, impressed by her skill, caught up with Ritz and invited her to join the guild, and trained her personally in the arts of thievery. Ritz took to the lessons like a fish to water, and grew to admire her mentor. Through Legault's training, Ritz soon grew into one of the best thieves in the Guild.
But when Ritz was only 13, Legault passed away. Legault left in his will that Ritz was to be his successor, which was met with skepticism by the other Guild members. To prevent the Guild from devolving into a power struggle, and to prove her skill to the Guild, Ritz took on a highly dangerous job to steal a relic from The Black Rose Society in Noxus. Ritz managed to make her way to the relic, but was caught red-handed by none other than Leblanc, leader of the Black Rose.
Instead of killing Ritz, however, Leblanc used a spell to probe into Ritz's mind, and learned she was to be the next Guildmaster of the Shadow Guild. Seeing an opportunity, she allowed Ritz to escape, and even gave Ritz the relic as a "gesture of goodwill". Knowing she had to accept or die, Ritz took the relic and fled.
Ritz returned to the Guild with the relic, and the Guild decided that Ritz would officially become Guildmaster once she came of age. However, Ritz was left feeling unworthy of being leader, as she was essentially given a hand-out by Leblanc. Wanting to truly prove herself worthy of being Guildmaster, Ritz now seeks to pull off even more daring heists, while also seeking a way to turn the tables on the Black Rose and Leblanc.

Now how'd I get my hands on this? Trade secret.
I wonder who this one belongs to. Ahh, doesn't matter.
