Hey, guys! I've been thinking there aren't as many explorers such as Ezreal in the League of Legends community, so I figured, why not make a new explorer champion? Attached to this discussion, are two files that contain information on my concept champion, Remington! One file is the Champion Spotlight and the other is the Champion Description! I hope Riot and the other community takes the time to look at this! This is a rough sketch of the character, and I will try to flesh out patch notes soon!

Thanks for reading this, and leave your response to my character concept it the discussion! :)

Welcome to the League of Legends Champion Spotlight! Featuring…

Remington

The Grave Robber

“I’ve got a bad feeling about this…”

Summary

Remington is a close-quarter Attack Damage fighter. Remington enters the League of Legends armed with his trusty bullwhip and trademark fedora. The second explorer next to Ezreal in
Piltover, Remington strives to become the greatest treasure hunter in all of Valoran.

“Hey, Ezreal, a Yordle and a Man walk into the sun. What? You heard of that joke already? Darn it…”

Even though he is a melee fighter with tons of damage, Remington is an efficient jungler who can quickly close the gaps between enemy champions and initiate team fights. Both useful at holding and assaulting positions, Remington is a great fighter for dishing out tons of damage in a short time.

Abilities

Passive: Fortune and Glory

Remington’s passive works two ways. His first part to his passive, Fortune, gives extra gold when killing minions or monsters. Additionally, every monster Remington kills gives Remington bonus attack damage for a prolonged time. Fortune’s attack boost resets every time Remington kills a monster in the jungle. His second part, Glory, gives Remington a third percent chance to miss any lethal blows when he is below ten percent health. This part has a cool-down timer, and the percentage does not increase when ranking up.

Q: Whiplash

Remington’s Q makes Remington lash out his whip in a skill shot direction. It deals bonus physical damage to monsters and minions and deals extra true damage to champions low on health. At the tip of the skill shot, the whip can execute low health champions by dealing a percentage of their missing health as true damage. Take Whiplash at Level One when laning, or at Level Two when jungling.

W: Cursed Idol

Remington’s W makes Remington drop the Cursed Idol of Shurima from the sky at a desired location. When near the Idol, Remington and allied champions gain bonus attack speed and damage. However, enemy champions suffer reduced armor and movement speed when in very close approximation near the idol. Remington heals a part of his heath if he attacks monsters within the idol’s radius. If the idol lands directly on an enemy champion, the idol traps the champion for a few seconds, then releases them with reduced stats. Take Cursed Idol at Level One when Jungling, then max it second for increased ganking efficiency.

E: Combat Slide

Remington’s slide makes Remington dash towards a target location, dealing physical damage on impact. Enemy champions hit by the slide are knocked up and slowed for a short duration. Additionally, Remington can dodge skillshots when he slides, making it a useful escape tool for dodging ultimates with skill shot range. Take a point in Combat Slide early, then max it last.

R: You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet

Remington’s ultimate, You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet, is an ultimate that can only be activated when Remington is below thirty percent health. In this mode, Remington uses all of his remaining strength to greatly increase his attack damage, movement speed, armor, and health for a few seconds. Additionally, the ultimate grants Remington additional health and regeneration when activated. Also, Remington’s passive, Fortune and Glory, is greatly increased, and Remington can use Glory three times to avoid dangerous situations.

Gameplay

Laning

In top lane, Remington can farm minions while receiving extra gold from their deaths. This will make situational items such as Infinity Edge or Ravenous Hydra much easier to obtain when farming creep scores. Keep an eye out for enemy champions that will try to deny you farm, as they will stop you from gaining too much gold. Try to practice last hitting minions to maximize Remington’s passive, Fortune. This will give you more gold when you recall to
base.

When getting caught in lane with Remington, remember that Glory’s passive has a chance to miss lethal execution shots. When caught pushing too far from the turret, Nasus ganks Remington from behind and Withers him, slowing Remington’s movement greatly. Master Yi sees this as an opportunity to take down a low health Remington, and under the cover of the turret, uses an Alpha Strike on a nearby minion to reach Remington. The hit connects, and with Yi’s luck, also critically strikes. However, Remington’s Passive Glory causes Yi to
miss his skillshot, and Remington activates his ultimate for a quick escape.

Remington can isolate a single enemy champion from the rest of his allies, and his abilities can quickly execute fleeing opponents from a distance. Remington teleports towards the top turret, currently under attack by Master Yi. As Master Yi attempts to flee from Remington as he teleports in, Remington flashes, then uses his Combat Slide to knock Master Yi up, following up with Cursed Idol. The slow and trap allows Remington to land basic attacks against Yi, dealing tons of damage. After Master Yi flashes, Remington uses Whiplash to execute the low-health Yi, dealing bonus true damage to Yi along with attack damage.

Jungling

When jungling with Remington, start at the Blue Buff first. Since Remington’s cooldown on Whiplash is very fast, use it as frequently as possible to execute the Ancient Golem and Lizard Elder for faster buff gain. Additionally, starting with Cursed Idol gives Remington bonus attack speed and damage when clearing camps, so also used Cursed Idol as much as possible. Take advantage of every part of your jungle, even when facing difficult monsters, such as the dragon or Baron Nashor. Killing them with Remington gives him extra gold,
allowing him to obtain more items quickly as possible.

When ganking, use Cursed Idol to immobilize important champions and Whiplash to damage champions from afar. When ganking top lane, Remington lands a successful Cursed Idol, trapping Jayce into place. This allows Aatrox to use Dark Descent, and knock up Jayce for Remington to land a Combat Slide, slowing Jayce. Jayce runs away using his Inter-Dimensional Gate and a Flash, but Remington uses Whiplash’s long range to hit Jayce from afar, scoring an easy kill for Remington, and an assist for Aatrox.

Counter-Jungling has become most popular lately, and Remington specializes in disrupting early jungling at the beginning of the game. Let us simulate a situation where the a team with Remington tries to steal a buff from the other team. The blue team, consisting of Remington, Jayce, Jinx, Lux, and Twisted Fate plan to invade the red team’s jungle, which consists of the enemy jungler Udyr, Vi, Zed, Taric, and Vayne. Remington, along with Jayce and Twisted Fate hides in the brush close to Red Team’s blue buff, as Udyr and Vi are attacking it with melee attacks, with Zed throwing Razor Shurikens and also providing leashing. This is where Remington’s Cursed Idol, Jayce’s Knockback, and Twisted Fate’s Gold Card come in handy.

First, Remington charges in and drops Cursed Idol on Zed. Then, Twisted Fate throws his gold card at Vi. Jayce follows up with a Knockback towards Udyr, knocking him away from the blue buff by hitting him over the forest wall. Remington and his allies, using the attack damage and speed bonuses from Cursed Idol, kill the Ancient Golem, with Remington receiving the blue buff, thus stealing the blue buff from Udyr. With precise coordination, Remington can dominate both jungles as his own, taking his place in other dangerous junglers such as Udyr and Nocturne.

Teamfights

When during teamfights, keep in mind that Remington is not only useful for setting up targets for easy kills, he can take down fleeing opponents with quick accuracy and dish out tons of damage. When Udyr stuns Jinx with his Bear Stance, Akali runs in for the kill. However, just when Akali was about to use Shadow Dance, Remington comes from behind both Udyr and Akali lands a successful Cursed Idol on Akali. Then, Remington uses his Combat Slide to knock up the two champions, slowing them and allowing Jinx to land her Flaming Chompers, stunning Udyr and Akali for a much longer period of time. With the combined effort between the two, they are able to escape unscathed and kill both Akali and Udyr, with a double kill given to Jinx.

Remington can also pick easy targets to start teamfights. Remington’s team, Udyr, Nami, Vayne, and Malzahar, are chasing the enemy team, which consists of Jayce, Vi, Caitlyn, Lux, and Ezreal. Nami uses Tidal Wave on their escaping route, and all enemy champions are caught in the wave, greatly slowing them. This allows Remington to land his Cursed Idol on Ezreal, and Combat Slide to Caitlyn. Udyr and Vayne join in the fight, with Vi and Jayce coming in to assist their teammates. Lux manages to land her Final Spark on Remington, and Ezreal his Trueshot Barrage. This is where You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet comes in handy for Remington. The health boost and movement speed allows Remington to lure the two towards Malzahar, which he lands his W ability on both champions and his ultimate on Ezreal. The ensuing chaos destroys the opposing team, and Remington’s team earning an Ace, Triple Kill by Vayne, and Double Kill by Remington.

Skill Distribution and Items

Remington relies on runes that help him survive in dangerous situations. His masteries must include enough early damage to execute champions from afar. And, his item set focus on building attack speed and damage. Movement speed is a secondary focus, as it allows Remington to catch up towards fleeing champions. Also, when jungling, be sure to include masteries that prolong buff use and increased potion duration in order to jungle more easily without dying.

For items in the jungle, start with a Hunter’s Machete, Five Health Potions, and Warding Totem. Use the other trinkets to see from afar or cancel other wards. Mid Game, go for Wrath of the Lizard Elder, Bezerker’s Greaves, and Bloodthirstier to prolong laning and jungle sustain. During lane, start with Doran’s Blade and a Health Potion, along with a Warding Totem, then immediately build towards Bloodthirstier and Bezerker’s Greaves. Infinity Edge, Statikk Shiv, Ravenous Hydra, and Trinity Force are other offensive Alternatives you can try out. Frozen Heart, Guardian Angel, and Randuin’s Omen are good defensive items for Remington.

For runes, try nine Attack Damage Marks, nine Armor per Level Seals, nine Magic Resist Glyphs, and three Life-Steal Quintessences.

For masteries, try taking 21 points into offense, and 9 points into defense. In offense, take Executioner, Double-Edged Sword, Martial Mastery, and Butcher as your main points. In defense, take points that increase Mana Regeneration, Health Regeneration, and Resistance to Normal and Ability attacks, and slow reduction. Another alternate build for a tank Remington is taking 9 points into offense and 21 points into defense.

that passive sounds a little bit weird, the fortune part seems like a game changing nerf to this champ, especially in item 3301

I only support this if Yorick is included in his lore and the fedora goes away.
