[Fan Fiction] Life as a Summoner Part 1
Note: In light of Riot's recent additions and changes to the lore, I have decided to create this story about a Summoner living in the world of Runeterra. My goal is to show that creating a universe using the old lore Riot originally had is possible and doesn't restrict the addition of new content as much as perceived. I plan to update this weekly, although circumstances won't allow that sometimes.
Feedback is appreciated!
I leaned back in my chair, still not sure this was actually happening. The letter sat on my desk in front of me, still congratulating me. “Welcome to the League of Legends, RednaxelaKor!” it read. “Report to the Ministry of War by the end of the week to begin your new life as an official Summoner!”
In Runeterra, being a Summoner is one of the most important jobs you can get. Almost everyone, bankers, scientists, even children, study summoning on their own time, hopeful that one day, they will be called in to compete for their nation.
The method that the League of Legends uses to select new Summoners was a mystery to everyone, but it was assumed that each candidate is carefully selected from an enormous pool of information, including age and occupation, required by every nation.
The competition is fierce. The most popular sport by far in all of Runeterra is the Mock League of Legends. Whoever competes for more than ten mock matches is ranked. I myself am ranked in the Silver division, marking me as a Mock Summoner of average skill.
This is what is so mysterious about the selection method. I have even heard of a Mock Summoner of the Bronze division being selected. Many, many MS's that have competed in the World Championship of Mock League of Legends have not been selected.
Rumor had it that even the winning team this year, Zaun's team Samsung White, had none of its players selected to be a real Summoner.
Needless to say, my selection to become a real Summoner of Demacia was mind-blowing. I would now compete in the real League of Legends, the battlefield on which all political disagreements between nations are resolved.
Snapping out of my daydream, I leaped out of my chair and began making preparations. I would need to notify the school that I taught at and my landlord that I would be moving to the Ministry of War.
