So I don't know when the tournament will begin for NA v EU but I look it up later for right I want to talk about the teams who are going to be apart of the tournament for NA and EU. North America ( Team Solomid, Cloud 9 and Phoenix One ) Europe ( Unicorns of Love, Fnatic and G2 Esports )

{ Now IDK what the reward is for winning other than region pride but that could be another topic because what's the point of this ? I'm now saying every tournament there needs to be a reward other than $ but are teams going to actually try or kinda just solo Q the tournament take it as true worthy time or just go - play and get back to what actually matters and that's trying to win YOUR region to make it to Worlds instead of playing in like 10-20 games that means nothing in the long run }

Looking at the teams I wouldn't be surprised if Eu just destroys NA here just by looking at how bad P1 are right now, and people can chalk it up to their schedule being rough and while that is a good argument they didn't look like the 3rd place team in ANY of their games to start the split.

Another thing that annoys me is it's the top 3 teams from last split not this split not going forward but instead backwards just annoys me considering teams like NV-DIG-CLG are doing so good and surprising people and most likely 2 out of the 3 wont' be apart of Worlds nor any real tournaments in the future and they're not even going to be apart of the tournament.

Looking at the teams that ARE involved the EU teams play much faster than NA around 4 mins less than NA on average but with the same amount of kills around 25 kills per game for EU and NA while EU plays around 34 mins per game and NA around 38 mins per game. Another key thing are the Towers objectives the 3 EU teams apart of RR gets around 8.36 towers per game on average while the NA teams get around 5.9 per game on average and that's a much better range for NA oppose to NA's ability to defend towers which is so bad the better NA team at defending towers is C9 at around 6.9 towers lost and that's 6th best among the other NA teams so it's safe to say the three NA teams are pretty bad or average( considering it's only been 2 weeks + the competition in NA is tough ATM + the longer games)

Now lets look at the rivals among these teams

The original battle of the pacific Cloud 9 vs Fnatic These two teams have faced in 2 Worlds against each other with Fnatic winning 4 out of the 6 meetings in games.
2013 Fnatic beat C9 2-1 in QT Finals and 1-1 vs C9 in the 2015 Worlds Group stage And honestly for the most part Fnatic dominated C9 in every game, 2013 C9 won 1 game vs FNC which was either a 40 min game or C9 lost in a 40 min game and the other is when FNC dunked C9 with like a +20 in kills vs C9 which happened again vs C9 in 2015 Worlds in the second meeting. 2013 both teams were at their peak ( C9 were like 25-3 in the NA summer and FNC were coming off their 2nd championship Eu title and were already established as the better International Western team at the time. Later after their 2013 Worlds meeting C9 beat FNC in the "battle of the pacific" 2-0 2015 C9 limped into Worlds and were behind in both games vs FNC but got a good teamfight to go into their favor( Balls Darius Penta). It's 2-1 in favor of Fnatic - Your move C9 !

Next up is Unicorns of Love vs Team Solomid IEM San Jose 2015, IEM Oakland 2016 with the Unicorns winning both matchups. Any time I see TSM at an International tournament I just place them dead last or next to last depending on teams involved for example NA will most likely finish C9-TSM-P1 in that order.
UOL plays a very team focus, run and gun, fast pace while TSM plays this 5 individuals, slow and unsure of themselves when facing International or better teams in their mind.
If Sven is the same Sven as of right now and goes into RR he will get destroyed and he may very well just get destroyed by UOL as I said when UOL are apart of a International tournament they show up and that's rotating players in and out on the team while TSM just can't even with better players or more pedigree behind those players than say UOL players do at this point in their careers.

Cloud 9 vs Unicorns of Love At IEM San Jose C9 3-0 UOL something TSM couldn't(SHOCKER) and that's when both teams made it to their respective region Finals and both losing in 2015 - UOL lost to FNC and C9 lost to TSM in the Finals - after Hai left but came back and UOL had roster swaps also mainly their ADC. So it is interesting that both teams at the time were at their best during 2015 and C9 beat the less experience EU team 3-0, while now both teams you could say have been much upgraded since.
Between all of the match ups this is really the one that I'm looking forward the most honestly.

Fnatic vs Team Solomid Not really rivals but it is interesting considering FNC has been the poster child for EU for so many years and still are while TSM has been the same for NA. That's the exciting part about this match up it's more rival outside of the game within the orgs/teams than it is about the players. Baby Faker(Caps) vs Western Faker(Bjergsen) Rekkles vs D-Lift, Hauntzer vs Soaz
It has the potential to be a great game/series!

Thoughts

{ TSM }- To any TSM fans (Loyal as you may be) this has to be the last straw to actually say TSM is the best Western team among longevity, being in every NA Finals, Every Worlds, and failing everything that isn't just TSM vs NA.

{ C9 } - We've seen C9 do some remarkable things on the International stage mainly Worlds making it to 3(kinda 2013 they were placed in the QTs) 2014 QT 2015 Group 2016 QT but very similar to say TSM they get these win leads and fail to actually seize the moment.
2014 Worlds C9 started 2-0 in groups only to lose that 2-0 lead having to play a tie-breaker and if lost would have needed to play in another tie-breaker but they won but lost their next game again NJS to go 4-3.

2015 Worlds Started 3-0 - Three and OH! but lost 4 straight games ending at 3-4

2016 Worlds Started 2-1 in the first half but lost enough games to make SKT beat Flash Wolves and Imay for C9 to advance finishing at 3-3.

{ Arrow } - The last time we saw Arrow on an International event was at 2015 Worlds

{ Rekkles }
These are Rekkles' stats before 2017 Summer Split 4.24 Kills per game, 1.38 Deaths per game, 5.22 Assists per game

Here are Rekkles' stats this split 2017 Summer Split 5.42 Kills per game, 0.71 Deaths per game, 5.28 Assists per game

and Here are his stats within International tournaments( 2014 Worlds, IEM, 2015 Worlds etc) 4.75 Kills per game, 2.4 Deaths per game, 5.26 Assists per game

  • I hope you guys enjoyed this and go out and support your region!
    Thank You

I honestly think that TSM fans are gonna be complete aids for this. If TSM does well it's gonna be "see this is what happens when TSM has doublelift and kicked off wildturtle who was complete ass" and if they flop its going to be either "oh TSM just got back with doublelift they need practice blah blah blah" or its gonna be "bench shitskeren until hes good again"

Sorry for the rant but that is legit my only problem with this tournament

TSM fans have got to be the worst, most but hurt fan base in the league. They literally have an excuse for every single loss or they simply want to bench someone after one game. It's because they are spoiled. TSM wins every single split. Calm down. Losing a couple of games along the way is what makes it look real. They'll still be on top come the end of the split.

Here's another issue that RIFT RIVALS can mend, though.

TSM and C9 account for a large portion of the viewership in the NALCS. CLG brings in a decent amount as well. In games that do not include these 3 teams, viewership for NALCS declines by nearly 60 percent. This means that people aren't necessarily watching LCS for the product, but simply watching for a team. Between Youtube and Twitch, C9 V TSM had nearly 250,000 watchers, but that dropped to around 80,000 between both platforms when any 2 other teams play. I feel like this pressures RIOT to keep success on the 3 high end teams because no on really cares to watch the other 7 teams.

Rift Rivals takes 2 of the top prospect NA teams and 3 (I guess G2 would be the 3rd highest behind UOL and FNC. Not sure, i don't pay much attention to EU) high profile EU teams and pits them against each other at RIFT RIVALS. I'm predicting viewership for the event to possibly reach 500,000 between the 2 platforms, especially when TSM and FNC play. RIOT could really use high viewership numbers after MSI was below expectations.

Here's the overall issue and it's not really related to RIFT RIVALS. The success of RIOT and the LCS scene depends solely on the success of 5 - 6 teams between 2 regions. If those 5-6 teams do not perform well, let alone, make it to worlds, then RIOT are losing nearly 400,000 viewers who aren't watching because their team is not in the running. That's about a quarter of their worlds viewership gone because high profile and highly liked teams aren't there. If C9 and CLG were to fumble this split and through the gauntlet and miss out on worlds, that means that a large number (though TSM would still bring in a decent amount) of NA viewers would not tune in to WORLDS and the same can be said for EU if FNC and UOL somehow fumbled the ball. There is a reason World's loses steam every year after the group stage and especially after quarter finals... it's because no one cares about the teams that are left. Though SKT does bring in a decent amount of viewers as well and people would still like to see an upset even though those do not really exist in the B05 format.

Just sharing some of my thoughts on the state of the league and RIFT RIVALS. I believe RIFT RIVALS (EU v NA) will be one of the most fun and entertaining tournaments in recent memory.

So let us see here. We're sending our current 5th place team, another 5th place team, and 10th place team and they're sending their current 1st and 2nd place team in Group A and their first place team in Group B.

It's the Fox News of tournaments. Fair and Balanced.

Edit. I'm sorry I insulted news by associating it with Fox. You can remove your down vote now.
