Huni

Last year at this time, if you told us you were excited that Huni would be joining the LCS, we probably would have said, "Who's Huni?"

It's easy to forget that the charismatic top laner with all the accolades and fans and support has only been competing professionally for a year. In just a short amount of time, he won us over with his skill and wildly aggressive plays; and then locked himself in our hearts with his good manners, jolly attitude, and spirited sense of holo holo.

"When I was an amateur, and not even professional, and no one knew me, they said, 'Oh this guy will be really bad!" reflects Huni, thinking back to when he first started on Fnatic. "But that's why I was trying hard. I wanted to prove I was not bad, and that I could actually win and carry an EU LCS team."

Huni has energy Huni has energy

Huni originally came from Korea, where he was a Samsung Galaxy practice partner. Then, in early 2015, Fnatic showed up and swept him off to Europe. He was unknown to LCS fans, and untested on the big stage. But he went beyond our expectations. He led Fnatic to a 13W-5L record in his first Split, scoring a 3.9 cumulative KDA, and winning the Rookie of the Split award along the way.

I'm gonna win.
Huni

Always keeping his teammates' -- and everyone else's -- morale high with his silly, yet competitive personality, Huni's a star who aims to entertain almost as much as he aims to win. He's brought old favorites like Riven back to the forefront while dominating the top side of the Rift alongside his trusted jungle sidekick Reignover. And he does it all while laughing in front of the camera, sporting an impeccable fashion sense, and giggling as he terrorizes enemies.

Huni may bring a smile to everyone's face, but it's usually his own that's first to frown after a disappointing performance. He's an emotional player who shows off his anger vividly. He'll put his head in his hands, unsatisfied in himself as he harshly judges what he could have done better on the Rift. This is where Huni has room to grow, and where his new teammates will need to step up in order to help him temper those strong emotions.

Now, Huni is going to Immortals, a new team in a new region. Somewhat expectedly, the flashy top laner had a lot of offers to swap teams coming into 2016. But what ultimately swayed him towards Immortals and the NA LCS was his confidence in the organization. Immortals' manager and mid laner both speaking Korean also played a large part in making Huni comfortable with the idea of moving to NA. "Our life will be easier than other teams. The organization is really nice," Huni says.

"The best advice I can give," Fnatic AD carry Rekkles says to Immortals, "is to use Huni's full potential and then you can sit back and enjoy the ride, cause he'll carry you all."

On Immortals, Huni will join Adrian, statistically one of the best supports in NA last Split; Pobelter, the mid laner for the NA LCS Summer Split champions Counter Logic Gaming; and Wildturtle, a three-time NA LCS champion. Huni's versatile style and capability to carry or play a utility role in games will be a natural fit on one of the NA LCS' newest teams.

And while Huni's already getting along with his new teammates, some of his old ones aren't too far away either. His partner in crime Reignover also joined Immortals, and together the two are ready to continue their streak as one of the most dangerous duos in the LCS.

"I have a really good relationship with him," Huni says of Reignover. "Top and jungler...it's nice having good communication and a good relationship with him. Our synergy is pretty high class."

Plus, his old captain Yellowstar also made the journey to NA to join TSM as their support.

Huni plays with emotion Huni plays with emotion

"I really miss him," Huni says of Yellowstar, thinking back on his old leader with a smile. "I think it's going to be really nice [when we meet again]. When I face TSM, I will have to try my best."

But Huni's nostalgia for the past can't last. He's continuing his professional career into 2016, leading Immortals towards the season start on January 16. But judging from the past, one thing's for sure: chants of "Huni! Huni! Huni!" will now reverberate off the NA LCS arena's walls when Immortals takes the stage.
