NA LCS is a regional league for North American teams only. Worlds is an international event that has teams from all the major regions (Korea, China, North American, Europe, LMS) and a couple of teams from wild card regions (smaller regions such as latin america, brazil, oceania, vietnam, russia and others). Worlds takes place after spring and summer splits for each region so it represents usually the best teams each region has to offer which makes it rather exciting. League also only has 2-3 international events per year and worlds is the biggest. Thats the gist of it.

"Difference between LCS and Worlds" LCS is where NA/EU plays their really average games, while Worlds is where they get pawned against better teams like SKT/Korea.

LCS *EU LCS, LCK - regular season play, spring/summer tournament play. They lay matches vs every team in regular season, best teams qualify to enter tournament. Doing well in tournament gives Points. Worlds - 5 Regions NA, EU, Korea, China, Wild top 3 in points enter.

eSports itself is the very definition of competitive gaming. If it has a level of play in which dedicated players can test their mettle to prove themselves as one of the best, that's what we're talking about.

The LCS (League Championship Series) is the foundation of League of Legends eSports (or LoL eSports). This consists of 13 regions; 5 major and 8 wildcard/minor/developing (still often referred as wildcard) regions. Not every region shares the "LCS" acronym in their region though.

Almost everything you need to understand about this upcoming Worlds can be found in this article.

But for the most part, Worlds will feature the acknowledged best 3 teams from each major region and a 9 wildcard teams (8 winners from their respective regions and an additional team awarded to the region from this year's Mid Season Invitational). Best way to explain the rest of that is this recent article,

As for the Patch, 7,16 is the considered start of the "Worlds Stress Test" patch in which the common competitive Champions (and often trickled into casual play) have taken changes in order to best optimize diversity. Not as easy as it looks when you think about it. Until the official Worlds patch on 7.18, smaller scale modifications will be made to hopefully satisfy that diversity instead of risking the majestic Juggernaut phase once had.

Seems kind of ridiculous, really. When I got into pro caliber gaming, it was very clear. This game is Japan-only. This game is Asia-wide. This game is regional, working up to a larger world title. I knew going in how high I'd be climbing, the boundaries were defined.

I'm not sure why NA and EU have their own group play, and then suddenly they throw them in with the rest of the world, which really only ever consists of China and South Korea. I feel like they should either do it by country and have each country's best compete in Worlds, or just have it worldwide to begin with... Just another reason I've never bothered going pro in League.

It's pretty simple, LCS is where you fall in love with your fav team, they somehow get to worlds which pumps you up even more. Then worlds start and you realize what it means to be Korean and get to witness them rip your team apart into tiny little pieces.

Kind of like soccer during the world cup. :)
