I mean... maybe thats because my silver noob brain cant get behind it, but it looks kinda stupid to me.

No team gets an advantage, since they trade one tower for another, one team loses conztrole about Rift Herals, one about Dragon, again, not that much advantage for any side in early game, gold stays even and now your solo laner is very open for ganks, since he has no tower to retreat to, meaning you actually put one of your guys at a higher risk early game by doing so... Not to mention that you lose alot of minions and xp by leaving one lane totaly open...

Is the global gold you get really worth that much if the enemy team just gets the same amount?

I actually prefere to not kill the enemy tower if I have controle about the lane to deny as many minions as I can...

Why is this Tower trade a thing? What benefits do teams have from this?

Tower trading has a few benefits.

First of all, it lets your ADC have a safe lane. If you're a weak laner like Twitch, Vayne, or (previously), Kog'Maw, or up against a bully like Quinn, Caitlyn, or Tristana, it lets them get gold and farm without too much threat from a toplaner, especially if you're in a 2v1 lane. Related to this point, it lets you get a lot of gold fairly quickly, accelerating your carries towards the late game faster; if you've got a hypercarry, that cash can really help.

It also helps open up the map; if you have a team comp that wants to group up and brawl with the enemy team (Lissandra, Sion, Leona, Draven, Gragas), a team comp that wants to make picks before going for objectives (Twisted Fate, Thresh, Rek'Sai, Tristana, Maokai), or a team that wants to poke and siege turrets (Nidalee, Janna, Ezreal, Vel'Koz, Gnar), opening up territory to make those plays in can help you do what your teamcomp wants to do.

both teams actually get advantages, as they get the gold and transition into midgame more smoothly, without having to risk getting a snowball of of some stupid play very early on - in this meta it´s just way saver than playing out the lanes and hoping for the best + you can set behind inexperienced teams easily without even fighting this way.

idk, it feels like every game every team is treating their top laner as if he is dyrus.

No one want to risk a good early game jungler to put their ADC behind, so they go for trading towers and let him scale by farming uncontested minions both in the push, and then when they can last hit the minions of the lane where the enemy has taken down the tower because they are not capable to overextend with few vision given the changes to entire vision system (so you don't lose a lot to minion and xp since you can farm freely once the enemy take down the first tower)

And no, teams can get advantage if they can execute this strategy better, just as they can have advantage if they play a standard laning phase better than the enemy

It can be boring at times, I agree, but in the ends is a reasonable strategy...just, it is not going to be a standard thing for too long imho, the changes that are coming through the various update will make change the meta and we'll see a larger mix of strategy
