I was driving home from work and the idea sparked in my head when i got stuck at a red light. It would be really cool if i started a pro lol team and got into the lcs. what i mean by that is that i find 5 top challenger players and form a team out of them and basically sponser them in a way. So if any of this is confusing to you and probally me too. I would say get 5 challenger players together form a team and give them a small salary and a gaming house to get them into the LCS and try to get sponsers to sponser such team. I am not totally 100% educated on this part of the Esports so if any of this is wrong i be happy to here so.

Well it is certainly possible, but you most certainly need willing participants and the money to do so. In addition to that, your team has to be very good in order to make it that far into the LCS. I would recommend the following...

  1. Find other willing sponsors, and it might be helpful contacting medium-large companies specifically those associated with electronics/pc's as they might be more willing to sponsor due to effective advertising to their target demographic (people who play league :P).

  2. Acquire willing top-tier players who are happy with whatever you decide to pay them with/sponsor them with.

  3. Consistently post your team's games on twich to receive notoriety, as well as establish a potential income source outside of sponsors. Sponsors also might be more willing to sponsor you if your team has a twich channel.

  4. Make sure your team is devoted and not flakey at all. Make sure they are willing to devote the majority of their time to actually involving themselves in practicing and perfecting their teamwork.

  5. Make sure you understand your role. You would be functioning essentially as a manager for a sports team. You can think of it being similar to managing other types of sports.

A couple other things I thought of would be to make a Youtube channel and/or an official Website for your team. Also getting involved in hosting tournaments (whether they be casual or serious) would help to increase notoriety which might help in contracting more players as alternates and such, or help in establishing more sponsors/income sources which in turn could help you substantially in financing your endeavor. If you feel up to it, you can even sponsor a regular casual tournament league open to all players since expanding your horizon could help to establish a better income, as well as provide opportunity for networking which could help in the long run.

Keeping a cool level/head and a business mind-set might be quite necessary if you decide to do this. E-Spots is no less professional in nature than other sports, so keep this in mind.

THank you all for commenting on this, and helping me fully understand somewhat of starting a team.

Just a more personal note, I highly recommend getting players together that (a.) already know each other or at least OF each other and are friends, or (b.) make sure that, before you make any moves to getting the gaming house setup and salaries settled on, you and the players get to know one another on a deeper, more personal level. If you only select your players from Challenger because the're the best yet they have issues with each other, your team will fall apart before it even takes off. Your team needs unity, you all need to create friendships between one another before any tournament action can take place.
