Right so i think most people saw the stomp of FNC vs IG and the C9 vs AHQ game. Let's get ahead of ourselves an say that the FNC will make it out. Where in the old system (S3/S4) FNC would be paired with the 'weaker' groups teams from group A in CLG and KOO tigers. The new system which Rito implemended is that FNC will either get to play the number 1 from group D (LGD) or the number 2 from group C (EDG/SKT). This to ensure that people don't get to meet their group opponents twice.

So with the new seed system FNC got the shortest straw, since they have to play the number 1 from China/Korea or the winner of MSI.

I think NA fans can expect CLG to maybe get even semi's if they have to play C9/IG in the quarter. TBH i'm sad that the 4 strongest teams wont get to the semi finals of Worlds for 100%.

I don't think it's a problem in Fnatic's case. They can take on any team here on equal terms.

Is that really a problem? Is it so bad to have some actually exciting high stakes matches before the semis so that we all have a reason to watch these early games?

I don't think that's how the knockout stage works this year. If Fnatic wins their group they will be paired at random with the second seed from one of the 3 other groups. So its entirely possible that Fnatic will get paired up with a Group A team. There's nothing in the rules that a group A can't get paired up against a group B in the first round.

Your confusion might be because of the "Example" bracket on the "About" Espots page. That bracket is just an example. The real bracket will be determined randomly later.
