LCS - Flexible rosters through champ select

Not sure if this has already been discussed here anywhere, but with the new meta shaking up what champions are seen in each role, do you think the LCS (and all other leagues) will ever change so that you don't have a set roster of your 5 players going into champ select, but instead the teams would go through champ select first and then insert "x" player into the game to pilot each champion. In this way, teams having a bench of players would actually be useful.

Seeing ADC players playing non-marksmen can't be ideal for the quality of the game - and you hear pro-players talking about how they don't really know what they're doing. However if they changed the way it works where you would choose your players after choosing the team comp you could have a dedicated marksmen player on the team, but if you weren't running one on the team comp, they wouldn't be forced onto a champion that they have little experience on. Instead teams might put another mid or top laner into the game who has experience on mages/bruisers. This would ultimately just improve the quality of the games. Obviously this wouldn't be the only example of where teams could take advantage of it - you could have dedicated tank / carry players for top lane or jungle, or similar differences in other positions.

I think you would still have to limit the number of people on a roster (say 8-10) or teams could just recruit one tricks for every viable champion, but i think this kind of set up could be interesting.

What do you guys think?

You'd have massive pauses in between champ select and the game starting, as players would need to bring their equipment out, set it up, import their preferences, and test that everything is working. Right now that happens in between matches, this would move that into the middle of the commentary.

Honestly, this sounds like a problem with over specialization. Teams currently need players who can comfortably play Marksmen, Fighters, and Mages to go bot lane, and what they've got are players who can play Marksmen or Fighters or Mages.

I think it is viable. It wouldn't be hard to plug in their preferred keyboard and mouse.. takes a few seconds really. If Riot implemented a way to quickly change profile presets then it would be pretty easy. Maybe let us have 5 profiles that each can have their own unique presets which saves literally every option, from video settings to hot keys and hud sizes...
