Fantasy Scouting Report: Week 8
Super Week has come and gone, and the NA and EU LCS standings experienced some shakeups. Team Curse’s players have experienced a rise in their fantasy viability, while multiple Cloud9 members continue to stub their owner’s toes. LMQ’s AD carry Li “Vasilii” Wei-Jun proved a single, awful week earlier in the season was an anomaly while Millenium’s Jakub “Creaton” Grzegorzewski has only increased value to his owners over the past month.
Rising Players
Vasilii - AD Carry, LMQ
Through seven weeks of LCS Fantasy, Vasilii has failed to meet his projection only twice. Three of the five times he has not only met his projection, he has far exceeded it. It appears that as the standings in the NA LCS become closer, Vasilii is hitting his fantasy stride again. In the past two weeks he’s delivered more than projected (by an average of 13.1 pts); and with one of his favorite AD carries, Tristana, viable in the evolving patch 4.10 metagame, the points should keep coming in droves.
Creaton - AD Carry, Millenium
Millenium has experienced its fair share of ups and downs as a team, but Creaton appears immune to all of that. He’s exceeded projections in six of seven Fantasy LCS weeks, and that only raises his value as a fantasy player. Locking Creaton in as a starting AD Carry/Flex on a fantasy team will let owners take risks at other positions since all Creaton has done this season is produce consistent, solid numbers (20.5 pts/game).
Xpecial - Support, Team Curse
Team Curse appeared to turn the corner after delivering solid performances these past two weeks, and fantasy owners stand to reap the benefit of keeping Curse players on their roster. Xpecial exceeded projections these past two weeks, and delivered at a clip of roughly fifteen points per game. He didn’t just abuse teams that give up a lot of points in the bottom lane, either. Xpecial scored very well on some of the strongest duos in North America (LMQ/CLG).
Falling Players
LemonNation - Support, Cloud9
Cloud9’s summer of discontent continues in the LCS, and it has certainly trickled down on C9 fantasy owners. While the entire team could be listed under this category, LemonNation has missed his projection in two straight weeks after four weeks of average performances. The past two weeks have turned him from a surefire starter to a player that should be considered a matchup based play.
Tabzz - AD Carry, Alliance
While Alliance has looked excellent throughout the split, there have been scattered duds from Tabzz. In the past two weeks, he missed his projected points. The problem is that Tabzz has also been a fantasy points monster in other weeks. He can drop 25+ pts/game (twice), or 5 pts/game (once). That potential keeps Tabzz as a for-sure starter, but may force some roster swaps for more consistent performers to guard against a bad week from the Alliance AD Carry.
niQ, Genja, Edward - Gambit Gaming
None of these members of Gambit Gaming have been paragons of consistent fantasy points this season. As a result, the entirety of Gambit had initially been relegated into purely matchup based starts. However, with all of the issues currently surrounding roster swaps such as lack of synergy and players acclimating to each other, this uncertainty moves them out of even matchup based play. Start any Gambit member at your own risk for the next week or two.
