Fantasy Scouting Report Week 5
Week 4 turned Fantasy LCS on its head with upsets all around and completely unexpected results in each LCS brought new players to the forefront. Top teams have slumped while middle-ground teams are starting their own comebacks. Who has been hit the hardest and who is giving it their all?
Rising Players
The addition of Locodoco to the coaching roster of TSM appears to have paid off, as they won both of their games, including their 2nd win out of 16 LCS games vs Cloud9.
Amazing - Jungle, Team SoloMid
Amazing had fallen off harder than late game AP Sion in the past two weeks, scoring the fewest points of any jungler in Week 2, and the second fewest in Week 3, amounting to a grand total of 11 pts/game. But in Week 4, he came in second only to KottenX among Junglers, racking up 55.85 points. Hopefully you haven’t dropped him off your roster during his slump.
Jree - Support, Millenium
Millenium has been a strong fantasy team for the Mid, ADC, and Jungle roles all season. But Jree has not seemed to benefit from his team’s success, being the No. 6 support in Week 1, and well into the bottom half in following two weeks. However, in Week 4, he finally took off, taking the No. 2 spot just 0.44 points under Gleebglarbu.
Dyrus - Top Lane, Team SoloMid
For the last 2 weeks, Dyrus has been in the bottom 3 Top laners for fantasy points, amassing barely 31 points over the two weeks. In Week 4, he exploded as TSM recovered, outscoring every other Top laner, despite facing off against his long-time rival Balls.
Falling Players
Shiphtur - Mid Lane, Dignitas
But Gentleman Gustaf, I thought Shiphtur was a god!
You’ll never hear me say anything massively negative about Shiphtur. He has only died 5 times in 10 games this year. He is the 6th-highest scoring player in Fantasy LCS. If it weren’t for Shiphtur and Kerp, I’d probably lose every game in my own fantasy league, as they have amassed a total of 434.82 points (about 21 pts/game). But Shiphtur has been on a steady decline since his dominant Week 1 showing.
In Weeks 1-4, he scored 25, 21, 16, and 12 pts/game. Presumably, this trend will correct itself at some point, but as Dignitas becomes a more established team, they simply don’t need Shiphtur like they used to.
MrRallez & WeWillFailer - Bot Lane, SHC
MrRallez and WeWillFailer proved to be among the strongest sleepers of the early LCS. However, they have been on a downward trend since their explosive start. In their first 2 weeks, they averaged about 40 pts/game combined, but in the last 2 weeks, they have only averaged 16 pts/game, including losses to teams like Millenium and ROCCAT. They’ll need to return to dominating weaker teams, and at least putting up a fight against the stronger teams, or their value will plummet.
High-Risk
LMQ
XiaoWeiXiao has been perhaps the most fantasy dominant player of the LCS through Week 3. In fact, even with a paltry 15 point Week 4, he remains the No. 3 scorer, behind only Kerp and Rekkles. Ackerman remains the best fantasy top laner even after an abysmal 8.63 point Week 4. LMQ should rebound next week, but if they don’t, it’s time to take a hard look at their low performances in losses. They have been in the top two scoring teams in Weeks 1 and 3, while falling to the bottom two in Weeks 2 and 4. Their highs are high enough to warrant keeping them around, for sure. But a loss to Curse and a narrow victory over EG doesn’t instill a lot of confidence in knowing when to start them.
