One does not simply 'become' a shoutcaster....

Or do they? No, really, I don't know. How does a shoutcaster end up where they are now? Are there classes and skills associated with it? Can you make a career out of it before hitting national level? Where can one start?

Essentially, if you wrote a 'Profesional Shoutcasting for Dummies" what points would you make?

I have an idea of starting a "Introductory Competitive Gaming" organization here at Virginia Tech. One of the things I would like to try and do is to give beginner opportunities and practice to shoutcasters, and if anyone happen to know resources and people to draw from to help that happen I would be massively appreciative!

Give the Facebook group "College of Casting" a try. There are other like-minded individuals aspiring to become better casters there and you can work with them to get better! https://www.facebook.com/groups/362633517190048

Oh, you indeed "just" become a shoutcaster. The hard part is getting people to listen to you.

For real, though. The first thing you should try is spectating games and trying it out yourself. Learning where to focus the camera when, seeing builds, all those things.

You need to be able to memorize names quickly, and know this game like the back of your hand. As for getting work in, you're going to have to scout out for nearby tournaments.
