With a new Split comes new stars and new stories. Here is one of the players you should look out for in Summer 2015!
Team: Edward Gaming
Region: China
Position: Mid
2014 World Champion. Mid-Season Invitational champion. The best mid laner in China. The man who brought down Sanghyuk "Faker" Lee's LeBlanc. Throughout his career, Heo “PawN” Won-seok has been picking up the highest accolades around, and hasn't shown any signs of slowing down.
Still, he's not content. After conquering the world with two separate teams from two separate regions, he's determined to go even further.
"I'm not satisfied," he told Lolesports after his MSI victory. "I'm going to win this year's World Championship as well." If he does pull off that feat, he'll be the first player to win three major international tournaments. Put simply, he'll become, as he puts it, "the best mid player in the world."
The perfect team
EDG has been playing extremely well as of late (they did win MSI this season, after all), but they haven't shown themselves to be anywhere near as dominating as PawN's former Korean team.

"I feel like Samsung White was a perfect team," says PawN.
With their dominant 15-2 run through the 2014 World Championship in Seoul, Korea, that's a fairly difficult statement to debate. But, as he says, "now that I'm on EDG, I'm trying to make them as perfect as Samsung White."
According to PawN, in order to get to that point, EDG has a lot of work to do.
"We're going to have more and more practice every single day," he says. "We also want to improve our team communication." If they can rid themselves of any and all communication problems, the team fighting Chinese squad will be even more terrifying than they already are.
The perfect mid laner
That improvement doesn't necessarily come from just working with his team. PawN wants to improve his own play as well.

The 2015 Season has been a bit of a struggle for PawN, due to his physical issues. "I've had a pain my waist for the past few months, so I didn't practice much," he told Lolesports. That hasn't stopped him from competing at the highest level though, particularly during the LPL Spring Playoffs. You know, the
"EDG needs me" moment.
Now that he's begun down his path to recovery, PawN says that he plans on doubling down on his play time on the Rift. "I just need to practice much more than normal," he says.
Versatility
The thing about PawN is that he doesn't do just one thing well. He does it all.
He can play just about anything, from long-range mages to the most up close and personal assassins in the game. This season alone, he's played 19 total champions, and found wins on every single one of them.

Again, though, he's not happy with just playing what he knows. Sure, he's a master at mid lane, but he says that learning other roles will be vital for his success in the future. "During my daily practice, most of the time I'll play as a mid laner," he says. "In the future, in addition to playing mid, I'll also play champions in other lanes."
PawN is known as a player who is more than capable of establishing dominance in lane, but also roaming effectively to get his side lanes going. If his new practice strategy pays off, the latter will become even stronger than it is now. A key component to well-timed ganks from the mid lane is knowing when a side lane is vulnerable, so learning those roles may be just the thing to allow him to earn the title of World Champion once again.
