2018 NA LCS Summer Finals is going to Oracle Arena
With Spring Finals in Miami behind us and the 2018 Mid-Season Invitational underway, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be coming to NorCal to close out the Summer Split. The 2018 NA LCS Summer Finals will be at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA on September 8-9, with the 3rd place match on Saturday before we crown the Summer Split champion on Sunday.
While we’ve gone to basketball arenas before, we look forward to being in the current home of the Golden State Warriors, the parent organization of one of our own NA LCS franchised teams, the Golden Guardians. We’re proud to be adding our own piece of history to the rich legacy of Oracle Arena.
Ever since the days of the Solomid Series, “Baylife,” IEM Oakland, and IPL Faceoff, the Bay Area has been a hotbed for esports. When we went to San Francisco for the Group Stage of Worlds 2016 at the Bill Graham Auditorium, we were inspired by the passion and energy of the crowd. We’re delighted to bring Summer Finals to the home of the largest League player base of any metropolitan area in North America.
As we described earlier this year in our philosophy around selecting venues, we want to make sure that the host city can support the inbound audience, media, and teams. While some of our previous locations for events may have been travel-friendly, it’s hard to imagine a more welcoming location than the San Francisco/Oakland metro area– it’s a hub for most travel from Asia to the US for international fans, and has nearly 4,000 nonstop flights per week for fans flying in from anywhere across North America.
Finals tickets will be available after Rift Rivals on July 9. We’ll share more information about ticketing including prices, on-sale date and time, and more on Friday, June 29 on Lolesports. In the meantime, you can read up on Summer Split details, buy regular season tickets, and check out the regular season match schedule.
